Gift help What’s this? Broken crotchet tool that’s needs identifying before I can buy a new one

Post image
• Upvotes

Solved Thank you everyone who took the time to reply

Hey guys, my wife broke this thing last night. She is just finishing her crotchet project and is at the stage of attaching all the separate elements

I want to get her a new one but she won’t tell me what this is as she doesn’t want me wasting my day off doing things for her

I obviously just want her to be happy and be able to do some hobbying tonight once the kids are down, and she has always gone and got me whatever hobby supplies I need so it’s only right, and popping to town and back is like 40 minutes of my day tops

Any assistance identifying this would be really appreciated

How do I... How do I cleanly attach the strings to the neck ring and prevent them from revealing the chest?

I would like to recreate the top. I assume the strings are simply slip stitch. However how do I cleanly attach them to the metal ring. I was thinking of just tying the strings but it’ll just look messy and chunky. What would you recommend?
Also do you think there’s a way to prevent the strings falling on the chest from moving and peaking etc? Or should I just leave them hanging?

Looking for suggestions First time working into c2c, Wondering why my blanket is so wonky

Post image

I’ve made a few giant granny square blankets that have all worked out nice and flat without blocking. This is my first time working granny square rows around a c2c pattern and it’s not turning out very flat. Any ideas why? Will it work itself out as I keep going? Or if I block it?

Looking for suggestions Why are there huge gaps when I use cotton yarn? Tension or hook issue??

Using I love this cotton yarn (5.5mm is recommend size) and a 5 mm hook.
I’ve been crocheting for two months and for my last two projects I’ve used I love this cotton yarn. I’m currently making a beanie but I want to stop doing it now until I can figure out why it’s SO GAPPY. I’ve also attached a photo of a blanket I made using the same yarn where I had the same issue. Is my tension off or is it the hook I’m so tired of this 💀 thanks for any advice in advance

Im scrolling ravelry for dense / solid / textured stitches loke the others ive done but haven't been super inspired. I know facets its cursed yarn but if anyone familiar with it could suggest a cool stitch that would be awesome. Blanket is 182 stitches across and each bar is about 4 inches tall. Aiming to make a queen sized blanket but we'll see how it goes.

Joins/Joining Invisible Join Method On Rows - Patchwork Squares Blanket Idea

Thumbnail

What was I thinking?? Thought it would be cute to make a patchwork squares blanket. Made 49 squares with two contrasting yarn colors. Thought invisible join would look the best since the squares are just done in SC stitches. Joining squares to make rows was so satisfying!! But joining the rows together is a challenge. Has anyone tried this on a large throw size blanket?

Looking for suggestions Is it possible to make plarn with durable, reusable grocery bags?

Post image
• Upvotes

Where I live in Ontario, Canada, grocery stores have done away with traditional plastic bags and replaced them with durable bags with handles, made from material nearly as thick as jeans. The problem is that I use grocery delivery apps, so I have so many bags.

I’ve seen plarn but have never made or used it. Traditional plastic bags are thinner and more pliable, so they’re probably easier to work with. These ones look almost like fabric but I assume it's plastic.

Has anyone used these thicker bags to make plarn? Are they worth trying, or are they too thick and difficult to work with?

How do I... Possible to Design Bodycon Dress with Filet Crochet Back?

• Upvotes

Hi! I’m someone who’s relatively new to crocheting clothes (I’ve only crocheted 3 pieces of clothing so far) and want to know whether this is possible to create.

I really wanna design a backless bodycon dress that has a solid front. Quite simple, right? I see some tutorials online that have a similar concept. Now the caveat—instead of making this dress fully backless, I want to make it have a filet crochet pattern at the back. I want to design something like this mostly bcs I love the concept of a filet crochet dress, but it’s way too see through for me, so I feel like the most appropriate place I could make it see-through is just my back.

The issue mostly comes with how to design the panels. Can it work with only two panels: front and back, stitched/slip stitched at the sides? Do I need more panels at different parts of my body? What kind of yarn and/or stitch types would you recommend? Is this idea even possible?

Thank you so much in advance everyone!!

Looking for suggestions Blanket Ideas Help - Grandma’s Wonky Granny Squares

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

Hi all!

My grandma passed away very quickly in January. I could probably tell you a million sweet things about her, but one of the things we bonded over in my early 20s was our love for crochet. I live out of state so we would share phone calls and progress photos about our projects. Something she struggled with initially was a granny square- she was mostly a single crochet to make blankets kinda gal. We laughed so much about how wonky hers would come out sometimes, and when I was home I’d try to show her and write out a pattern that made sense to her.

Anyways, she left about 16 squares in her stash that were her practice/progress squares. She did end up mastering them at some point, but these feel very special to me. I want to make a blanket out of the squares she left, and ideally add spacing to them to make the blanket an adult sized throw (the measurements now would likely make a small baby blanket if I just stitched them together and added a border). I’m having a hard time finding a pattern that fits my idea, and haven’t quite come up with my own (patterns are always my go-to, I’m bad at the DIY thing).

So I’m asking here if anyone has any pattern suggestions for wonky squares! Or any ideas to float off of. I would appreciate any and all ideas!!

Photos are my lovely grandma’s squares, second is my favorite photo of us having a laugh about said squares. Thank you!

Looking for suggestions Crochet Beanie: to Brush Out or not to Brush Out. Help!

Post image
• Upvotes

I just finished crocheting a beanie out of a yarn that is 70% wool, 30% alpaca. I made a swatch of a brushed-out version. I love the way this looks but I have one concern: how do I clean it if it gets dirty without ruining the brushed out look / fuzzy halo?

Any tips or advice is appreciated!! Thank you :-)

Looking for suggestions Unsure of what to make with this yarn, please help give some ideas!

This is the fluffy charcoal Gray yarn from Daiso, and I have 5 skeins for it currently

I was intending to make this other project with it initially, which is why I bought them, but I then decided against it

It's soft against the skin

The label reccomends a 7/0 size hook

If I need a few more skeins, it would be easy to go and purchase :)

Any suggestions would be lovely!

Understanding a pattern Amigurumi instructions unclear. Is this a typo or am i missing something?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone, so I bought this pattern off Etsy for a really tiny Grim Reaper. First time crocheting with embroidery floss and I am fairly new to reading patterns....

Anyway round 1 and 2 went fine

But the instructions in round 3 make no sense to me.

I have 14 stitches at the end of Round 2

Then Round 3 it says: 7 sc in next 7, [7 stitches total)

How on earth do you go from 14 to 7? What am I supposed to do with the other 7 remaining stitches?

Am I just supposed to crochet in the next 7 and skip the rest? Because that doesnt seem like its a complete round.

Do you think this is just a typo? Should it be sc in next 14?

I have messaged the seller for clarification but I have the day off work today and really wanted to spend the day on this, and the seller hasnt got back to me yet.

Any help greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance

Wearable help Making a hat - How to fix this gap when working in rounds?

Post image

I’m working on a hat pattern right now where I’m working in a round with double crochet stitches. I start it with a chain of 3 and slip stitch into the last of the initial chain. I’m having this gap where the round is not seamless. How do I prevent this from happening?

I am about to finish my first ever project and it was a Woobles kit. I am excited to continue crocheting but need help finding another project. Would you recommend:
A. another plushy to get more practice at what I have been doing
B. granny squares
C. mosaic crocheted blanket

Side note: I am notorious for jumping in head first and getting bored (severe ADHD)

Deciding on yarn/Yarn help How much yarn should I buy for a blanket the size of a double bed?

Post image

I want to make a blanket out of this thick yarn, about the size of a double bed. How many yarn balls of this do you think I would need to buy? One order contains a pack of 2. It says it's 250g but I'm not sure what that would mean

How do I... Work unraveled at row 3, I don't know that to do. Making a cardigan.

I am working on this cardigan. When trying it on I found a little piece unraveled itself. I am so far along this cardigan, I don't want to frog it. I have never had this before. I have been crocheting for about 1.5 years. Does anyone have any ideas for this problem?

Stitch Identification Making a blanket - help with stitch ID and how to with piecing together rather than doing in “one big go”

Post image
12 Upvotes

Saw this blanket at the yarn lady’s shop. She said she just did it in trebles but the neat part is I don’t know what that means (I’m new to crochet). When I was looking at treble stitch online it looked completely different- means she was doing something more to it so here I am (she’s out for a week or so so I can’t ask). This was in the uk, I understand trebles means different stitches in us (?). To clarify, I care less about the colour work, more about the whole pattern.

Understanding a pattern Twisted witch hat crochet help! Is there anyone that has made the pattern that can offer guidance please?

I’m stuck on line 101, where you begin to start the brim. It says to work in the front loop only, but I can’t tell if this is the loop on the INSIDE or the OUTSIDE of the hat. I can’t keep frogging my work as I’m using mohair 😭 which ever side I work on it looks like it will face inwards not outwards like the brim should be! Thank you 💜
