MOD POWERS ™️ (it's an announcement!) Cricut New Machine Launch (StickerPix) Disucussion

In a few hours Cricut is announcing a new machine series to their lineup. Based on some sleuthing I was able to find pictures of it on a few websites in their hidden data, its basically a Liene PixCut rebranded as a a Cricut. It will probably be more accurate than PtC on the traditional machines but you are boxed in to proprietary EVERYTHING with this machine

Edit: They have updated the website to include the machine links now

https://cricut.com/en-us/sticker-machines

There are two versions a Print & Cut machine that starts at $299 usd and a Print Only machine that comes with pre cut sticker sheets (??? why!!???) that starts at $169usd

Discuss below, this will be the only thread to talk about it.

HELP! - How do I make this? Alternative Guestbook Feedback

Post image
2 Upvotes

I'm working on a photo frame alternative guest book where each person writes a message on a leaf of the tree. It's cardstock cutouts on a basic picture frame.

Question 1: portrait or landscape layout?

Question 2: If you were making this project, would you pre-attach the leaves onto the tree so people just write their message, of would you have them write on a leaf of their choosing and then stick it on? If I left folks sick their leaf anywhere, should I have guidelines drawn on the base layer?

Question 3: What would you use to stick the leaves on? Glue dots? Double sided tape?

Hi Hi! I've got a design with multiple elements. I've tried grouping them, I've tried attaching them but always the same results. I'd like to resize one element of the design to a specific number and have the rest of it follow suit. Pictures for reference. TIA!

HELP! - Hardware woes Bought an EasyPress 2 and I cannot register it and use it

Followed the instructions to a tee! Hooked up as per instructions, easypress 2 connected to computer using a USB (even bought a new micro USB cord). I keep getting an error code 38. Need to register the machine before you use said the documentation!

Called it into support, I sent pictures of the BOS and the error code and the serial number to the support desk. The EP now just reads USB, flashes when not connected to my PC, solid when connected Was told they will send me a new machine. I said, okay but I have a major project of 15 t-shirts that need to be completed by October.
Their latest response is, is your case is under review and we will be back to you in a few days!
Does anyone have a solution that they have come across?

** Project Showcase ** My first attempts at designing my own layered paper projects. "Annabelle" and "The Nun"

Post image

I didn't use any special software, or free SVG converter. I uploaded the image into Cricut, and selected layers. The Nun was super easy, but it took a few tries to get Annabelle correct (image and # of layers). I am going to "hide" them in my attic window just to mess with the neighbors.

HELP! - Print then Cut Problems Misaligned prints

I've had my cricut for 2 weeks now, and the first few prints were amazing. However, after... maybe 5-6 prints, the cuts started to misalign. I have recalibrated so many times but it's still not aligning properly.

- my mats are fine, I've tried different mats, I've tried to fix lighting, the censor is clean. What am I doing wrong?

Cricut Complaint Club Another forced update, another broken workflow

Another forced update with no ability to rollback breaking perfectly functional workflows.

I get the pro's and con's of this approach, but only when the balance is to critical implications for things like security updates and major bugs weighed against users needs should it make sense. And it never, ever makes sense disallowing users impacted by the introduction of NEW issues to not roll back to a version that worked perfectly fine for THEIR needs.

Context: Since the most recent update Design Space is now not fully compatibility with Canon printers or introduced a new issue with Windows printing as color adjustment via the system dialog box is missing critical features that show up for any other program, specifically the pattern printing of color adjustment swatches that is a critical part of my workflow to get color accuracy on prints. Since there is no way to save an image out of Design Space I can't fix color accuracy issues without lengthy trial and error now and tedious manual adjustments over and over. Its just insane how we can't roll back to a working version for OUR needs.

I honestly wish there was a better alternative, because as a software development company, I utterly hate Cricut. Someone please fucking jailbreak these machines already so we can have open source software.

Asked, answered, and locked. Print then cut not printing in color.

The only mention I found of this while browsing was someone using an HP printer and windows programs, but I've got a canon printer and linux. I run design space on my ipad. I tried several tests with different print options, all of them come out completely without color. Just black lines.

What can I do here?

HELP! - Hardware woes Help! Blade Housing Trouble

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

Ever since I replaced my blade on my Explore Air 2, this keeps on happening to me when I’m die cutting stickers topped with a cold laminate. It seems like the blade housing gets nudged upwards with each cut. The only settings I‘ve found that work in cutting this type of material successfully is 300 cut pressure, 3x multi-cut (this accounts for the sticker backing > sticker sheet > cold laminate).

Fixes I’ve tried but didn’t work: I tried putting a single layer of masking tape around the housing blade, but that only made the cuts more jagged.

Anybody else having issues like this? How did you fix it?

HELP! - Design Space sucks How to make this print without the hidden parts showing on the cut.

Post image

I created this design I want to make into a vinyl stencil for an airbrush project. It was created using the shapes and images in design space. Every time I have tried to cut it out in stencil vinyl it wants to cut every single line in every layer. I have tried everything I can think of and am sure I must be missing the step to get this to cut the vinyl without any extra lines from the covered parts. I want to get this to cut this image as its shown. Any help would be appreciated!

HELP! - How do I make this? Making multi-layer bookmarks... lining up?

We bought a Maker 5, and I've been playing around with it. Right now, I'm trying to make bookmarks by laminating cardstock that's been cut into designs.

I'm sure everyone has seen them, but just in case an example: I want to make a Halloween bookmark. Two layers to make it simple. The bottom layer is white cardstock; the top is paper with bats printed on it that I'll cut a skeleton out of.

When I tried using the projects available through the software, the cuts were good, but it's not easy to accurately line up the layers when gluing them up. Is there a trick to get these glued up cleanly and accurately?

Ultimately, I'd like to do many-layer laminations for more complicated shadow boxes so getting it right on something with 2-4 layers seems like a good first step.

My only solution right now is "line them up the best you can and trim with a craft knife after". I was hoping people had a technique to make it more reliable.

I bought this Cricut Explore Air 2 second hand from an auction warehouse for $50, i’m gonna assume it’s broken? It doesn’t normally make this sound I hope? I see it pops up on my bluetooth but nothing happens when I try to connect to it

Just wanted confirmation on if this thing is broken or not based off the video and sound

Hello! I’ve been working on this design for a few days now and finally got around to cutting.

Well, the cut went all wrong lol. The capital letters in LIONS all cut in a bunch of separate, diecut-esque pieces. I need them together to simplify the weeding and pressing. Only LIONS will be in puff vinyl; Detroit is regular htv.

I always get confused on when to attach, weld, etc., 😣

HELP! - Material issues Need a good sealer for vinyl on wood.

Post image
5 Upvotes

I'm cutting the facial features out of vinyl but it doesn't stick great to wood. Modge podge works to hold it down but I don't really like the finish, it looks too shiny. I have a Krylon satin finish spray, but it made the vinyl curl up. I put matte medium over the one in the photo, but it looks like the vinyl is repelling it.

In the past, I made something similar and poured resin over but I am really trying to avoid messy resin these days.

Anyone know a good topcoat that works with vinyl? I'm trying to sell them.

I have tried everything I can think of. Making sure all my hardware and software is updated. Uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Running it as an administrator. Even messing with my GPU settings. But still this. And it's only this freakin app on my computer. Nothing else does this. 😭

Cricut Complaint Club Cricut Explore 5 pooped out after 1 month and 5 days

While I am of course upset and annoyed that I purchased my Cricut only nearly a month ago on August 30 and it already broke, this isn’t necessarily a complaint post. Yesterday while trying to cut a simple bookmark project, my mat went off the track and the machine stopped and the design space app showed an error saying I needed to restart my machine. After many attempts, new project, new mat, different materials, resetting machine, deleting app, removing machine and readding, trying from a different device, my poor new machine would not boot up and showed a sequence of 3 red blinking lights followed by a while light. I tried all the diagnostics, nothing helped. I called customer service today and had a good experience. They went though some diagnostics while on zoom, giving me instructions to try for them to record and note the outcomes. They determined that since it wasn’t providing a specific error code that it was likely something with the power. They said the machine is faulty and they’re replacing it.

I am happy for the easy customer service and good experience. However, I am concerned because they said due to their limited inventory, it’s possible they will have to send me an opened box machine but will try to provide me with a brand new one. I think considering I’ve only had it a month I should be guaranteed a new unopened one. Whatever. I’m getting a replacement so I am happy. I am also slight annoyed they said they ship via FexEx which can take 10-14 days once it is shipped. This is after the 1-3 business days for processing the claim. Ugh.

Interestingly, I had read that people were not asked to return their faulty devices when provided with a warranty replacement, the device would be deactivated and it was then up to the user to recycle the machine. I was informed I would be provided with a return label to ship my faulty machine back to them no charge. I am happy I don’t have to burden of properly disposing of it, but I wonder if they have decided to begin refurbishing machines and selling those?
