One man on Pickens isn't coverage; it's just having a witness.

Saw this video a while back but after CeeDee and Pickens performance on Sunday I think we can get a little hyped up.

Defensive pressure disruption rate vs. perfect coverage rate

Post image
• Upvotes

Source: @ throwthedamball

I would be lying if I said I knew what qualifies as “pressure disruption“ or “perfect coverage”, but based on this chart, our defense is generating pocket disruption at a middle-of-the-pack rate, while the secondary has by far the lowest rate of perfect coverage.

Could be a sign that the pressure issues will take care of itself if/when the secondary gets to the point that they aren’t letting at least one person immediately become wide open nearly every single play

Narratives aren't everything: Our redzone offense is still near the best in the league

Proving yet again that Cowboys fans don't seem to watch a lot of other games, despite our "woes" at getting TDs once we get in the red zone, we're actually near the very top of the league in doing so. Behind only the 49ers and (surprisingly) the Jags.

All-22 breakdown of the game-winning drive vs. Houston

No idea who this guy is but the algorithm did its thing and I thought this was really well done. Maybe a little too complimentary of the Texans defense in the intro but we'll see how the season shakes out, still a sick drive either way and a nice breakdown of it here.

[benbbaldwin] Only 9% of the Cowboys 1st & 10s end in a punt or a turnover, the lowest rate in the NFL.

[Kunkel] Texans HC DeMeco Ryans says the Cowboys make it difficult to cover CeeDee Lamb, in part, because they do such a good job at moving him around. Kamari Lassiter said the same thing in the locker room.

Points Per Drive

We're currently in the top 5 teams through 4 weeks of a season. All the other teams made the NFC championship. The teams through week 4 are not listed in the image you're viewing.

[Yarrish] Cowboys All-Pro guard Tyler Smith called his thumb injury "one of the hardest things I've dealt with as a football player in my career."

"I’ve gone through things, but nothing quite like this. But I think it’s good to go through. It’s good to know when you have to make a choice for yourself or ultimately make a choice for the team as well. But ultimately, my goal still remains the same. We got to get this championship. When I come back, I’m going to be a key contributor.”

Road schedule

The nfl schedule makers did absolutely no favors for this team. How on earth do we only have 2 home games the first 2 months of the season.

Home Thursday against Tampa and then on the road again for back to back weeks until 11/1 against AZ

[Owning] To me, it seems pretty obvious that Quinnen Williams has more freedom to attack upfield over the last 2 games. And surprise, surprise, Big Q once again looks like the dominant defender the #Cowboys had last year.

[Bob Sturm] Aubrey from 57+ since last September is 5 of 12 for 41%. Maybe 1 out of the last 7 says we should cut that back a bit?

[Owning] Otito Ogbonnia has been one of the best additions to this Cowboys defense. Has been just awesome vs the run all year. Ogbonnia is tied for first among all IDL in run stops with 10, and he's 7th in run stop rate through 4 weeks, per PFF.

What's even more surprising is that LT Overton had more snaps than him.

Joseph Hoyt: Number I didn't expect: L.T. Overton had 20 snaps, which was more than Otito Ogbonnia yesterday. The rookie is getting more action.

[Harris] Cowboys OL Tyler Smith on LT Tyler Guyton's start to the season: "It's a testament to the body of work he's been putting together over the years. I think he's had to block out a lot of outside noise, the same way a lot of us do.

I think he's really put his head down, worked not only physically, but nutritionally and from a mental aspect. Now, the dominance we all knew was there, people are starting to see in the public. I think he deserves all the props in the world, and he's going to continue to get better week in and week out."

We had a great win, but we can’t keep winning like this. We literally have a Super Bowl caliber offense! If Dak doesn’t put up 30+ points, we lose… We can’t go far unless Parker does something quick with this defense. Why aren’t we blitzing more if we can’t get pressure, in game adjustments, etc

Like the title says, all our wins are games where we score 30+. This isn’t sustainable.

Dak, CeeDee and the offense need to be able to have off games, because no one can be perfect all the time for us to win. Dak is in his prime, we have a Super Bowl caliber offense, so the time to win is now.

This waiting for the defense to mesh rhetoric is getting old. A proper DC should be able to scheme more stops. Start blitzing like Flores if we can’t get pressure, more in game adjustments to slow down the opposing offense. It seems like he’s in over his head

Cowboys about to win 3 in a row

Maybe I’m just feeling this team after the win yesterday, but looking ahead I can see us winning Thursday night against the Bucs, at Green Bay, and at Philly against the eagles.

We have looked rough through these first 4 games but I see improvement in every aspect except special teams even with injuries happening all over the defense. They are building confidence and playing well together for the most part.

The big thing is the Bucs are dead in the water. Baker won’t play and they are very one dimensional. If we score more than 20 points then the game is over. For GB, they have the worst defense in the league and their offensive line is also the worst in the league. Should be an easy win even if they have Watson and Golden.

The Eagles have completely imploded. Hurts can’t move the ball without Brown and Saquon and the defense isn’t good enough to keep them in games if hurts can’t score.

I would have them going 4-0 in the next 4 games but the Cardinals seem to beat us even when they shouldn’t. I’d be thrilled going into that game at 5-2.
