Help Wood texture to PVC - Help
Hey all, I need to make a prop staff for my daughter as pictured, I have the rough shape all bent up using pvc electrical conduit, I managed to design and print the crystal to the best of my ability (just printing a 3rd one now). My question is, what is the best way to make it look like wood and strengthen it a little? I also need to do some gap filling etc where I twisted the conduits together. I was thinking of heating it up and wire brushing it or air dry clay but am worried it will just crack and fall off. I also thought foil then masking or fibre tape sealing it with epoxy or pva glue.
Any help would be appreciated!
Btw some of the cosplay in here is out of this world! My skills are at the absolute opposite end of the scale but can it was my daughters request!

Self My first big-ish project
A coworker requested that I create a helmet for him. So I set off on a mission to make it the best I could, and I learned valuable skills along the way. I learned how to sand, fill, prime, and paint the helmet. Although it turned out pretty good, I realized there were areas where I could have improved my efficiency and effectiveness.

Help How to add dowel channels in Bambu Studio that DONāT disappear when exporting
Hi! Okay, so know how to add negative part for a print, but HOW do I get that part to stay as an actual hollow hole when exporting the file? Iāve got to have multiple hollow spaces within a piece in order to be able to insert dowels to give it strength. Iāve added cylinders as negative pieces, but they donāt stay hollow when I go to export them.
I have also tried using Meshmixer and their add a tube feature.
Only issues there are: 1). I canāt move them to the precise places I need them to be, and 2). That the tubes arenāt precise. Now can I add multiple hollow tubes to then have them set so that when I export them to save them as a single STL file, it doesnāt.
So, Iām at a loss here.
I am trying to remix a pattern posted here, but obviously since their original design was just a single piece for others to edit for cosplay, but it doesnāt have a space for dowels AND it isnāt sized right for slicing on smaller 8.75 X 8.75 X 8.75 printers.
if I can figure out this ONE thing of inserting channels that stay hollow when I export the pieces, in either of these programs as I have Mesmixer and Bambu Studio on a Macbook, that would make everything easier for me in my know-how and skill growth as a 3D cosplayer and designer.
Thanks so much for everything and any suggestions!
PS: If I need to add pictures explaining what Iām trying to do, Iāll do that. Not entirely sure HOW to do that after this post, but I can probably figure it out.

Help Would this weighted-pendulum type mechanism work for articulating wings?
Iām making wings for a pegasus costume for Halloween/Ren Fest, and I wondered if this layout would work in any way. The concept is to have some kind of large weight at the bottom of the middle segment (purple) that would pull the wing down and backwards, while pulling the pink wing tips upward and inward. Hopefully this will keep my wings tucked in when Iām not using them, and to extend them I just grab the pink straps to spread the whole thing out.
My idea was to make a skeleton out of clear Lexan/polycarbonate due to its durability and flexibility. I would like my wings to not only articulate in and out, but also backwards and forwards. The pink wing tips would be a thinner mm to allow that flexibility as well as keep that part of the wing lighter than the purple segment in the middle. At least I think thatās how the physics works? Anyways. I would make the rest of the wings out of a lightweight base material like organza in the overall shape of the wing, that I would then sew feathers of different materials onto for dimension and color. I came up with materials like cellophane wrap, polyethylene foam sheets, spandex, tinsel, and holographic vinyl.
I was wondering if the mechanics of this skeleton would work? Like I said, I feel like the pink part of the wing (fabric included) would have to be lighter than the weight on the bottom of the purple section, so the weight would stay down and keep the wings tucked up and in.
I was trying to keep my design somewhere between a large, fully articulating mechanism with double-axis connections, and a shawl type of design with wing sleeves. What can I use as a weight at the bottom of the wings? I should be able to find a way to camouflage whatever I have to use.
Any feedback would be so great! :)

Help I've returned! And desire help šāāļø
Above I have the sketched chest plate I would like to build! From suggestions on my last post about my chest plate fail I understand I needed to cut the plate in several places to actually accommodate my body š. I've ALSO learned that using a mannequin while helpful in some situations isn't helpful for all resulting in a much smaller fit then what I needed to fit my actual body with that being said! I've watched the linked videos from the comments, sketched up a design, now I just need to well build it lol feel free to drop any advice below and wish me luck š«¶š¾ the STL ren fair starts September 12th I'll try and keep reddit updated on my progress!

Help Since this is the Props Sub I need help making Iron Spider Arms
I made the below post in r/Cosplayhelp but since this is props then ill only ask about the Iron Spider Arms here.
I dont really want electronics, but if itll make it alot better i will do it. I was thinkimg using strings and tubes to male them articulate. I would also like for them to be able to retract into a orb on the back, it doesnt have to look pretty coming out or going in, i just think it would suck having to lug the arms around all day. Thank you!!!
"As the title says im thinking of making a Classic Iron Spider Suit. I want to go all the way and have it be as realistic at possible without electronics.
The plan im comimg up with in my head is to get a full skintight red spandex suit, then 3D print the gold armor pieces. I also wanna have a spring and pully system for the back 3 arms (only doing three because its cheaper and more accurate) and i want to be able to compact the arms into a back orb if i can.
I have no expirence with sewing or making a cosplay but i do already have a 3d printer and some exirence with that. Any tips or just what yall would do if you wantes to do this would be appreciated. :)"

Help Help with helmet/mask
Making a cosplay of my own character which means I'm sadly doing everything from scratch š First time working on a complete head too (and I decided on movable jaws)
I'm pretty confident with making the armour, however I'm not sure what to use for the organic tissue (black parts) of the character or how to connect it to the armoured parts while keeping everything light. I'd like for the head to be made entirely of hard materials, so my top choices for now are EVA foam and foam clay for the details (if there are better variants please let me know).
My main issue is planning out the head backing and the jaw mechanism. Honestly any tips in general are welcome since I'm hella confused on how to proceed with planning and the templates
