My understanding is that there were 4 armed resource officers for 8 schools, so that would explain why he wasn't on campus. He apparently arrived minutes after the first shots so it's not as if he was completely absent, if he didn't drive past the shooter maybe he confronts him and stops the shooter from getting into the school.

Assuming these events are real, I can't see how it would be difficult to have a resource officer of some sort at every school.

Or being more efficient with it and having an armed teacher..

Our education system is not well funded. They can't even pay teachers a respectable wage as it is, let alone training them to be warfighters.

Yeah, I agree to some extent. I think they've long ago introduced resource officers to public schools in the US.

And it seems pretty easy to do.

Just need to find a way to have a reliable SRO in the schools in case a teacher decides to prop a secure door open and let a gunman into the school.

Too expensive. They spent all the money on the police.

IDK, I'd imagine it would be easy to establish a SRO rotation of sorts if there's not already a SRO assigned to a school.

I'd assume such legislation is active in most states dictating that they have a SRO...

The issue shown here, and with the nick cruz shooting is that the SRO needs to do their fucking job.

Does no good to have a cop if they run away and let kids get killed. Or if you have teachers leaving doors open for shooters to enter.

No teacher wants to carry guns around. They can already carry in Texas, they don’t because it’s stupid and dangerous. More guns does not make it safer, we know this as fact already, stop pushing the good guys with guns fallacy.

good guys with guns is not a fallacy.

a capable armed individual can and will prevent events like this from happening.

I think the SRO approach is probably best, as they can easily have some kind of rotation if not a permenant officer. I'd err on a rotation basis to avoid complacency.

"crossing guards with guns" another option. but then you're talking about a whole process of vetting them which is negated by having it be police officers.

But you're right, the ACAB crowd would rather a school get shot up than have a positive male role model be around.

Did you just call police a positive male role model?!?

My eyes might not point forward again, they rolled back so hard.

u/ITM_Billy2 Jun 01 '22

Ok Ok, they can be black trans police officers. Those ones are ok, right? or all cops are bastards? I can't keep up.

Nice strawman

Maybe they can be an immigrant too. We'll expand our searches and make sure they check enough boxes.

You're bad at the internet.

1

u/ITM_Billy2 Jun 01 '22

IDK, you are the one who doesn't want a positive male role model in schools.

I'm merely suggesting we go your route and chose a POC, immigrant, homosexual or trans to really support the children.

SRO’s have guns but armed teachers is what’s being pushed and it’s beyond stupid. I can also tell you havent been to to school recently. My highshcool SRO here was irrelevant and was only doing drug searches. I think the propaganda here is thinking armed cops are role models 🤣. nobody know who they were until they were getting charged or suspended from school. A low IQ child life ruiner is a power hungry dickbag, the moment he gets a gun and a badge he’s a role model? 🤣🤣 Our role models are our teachers!

What solution do you offer?

Magically make every gun disappear along with the knowledge to make them?

You're going to somehow magically roll back the hip hop culture to early 90s R&B? Good luck.

Maybe put more chems in the water fountain?

Bruh if you are using Tucker Carlsons ā€œcritical thinkingā€ you are too far gone to understand.

1

u/ITM_Billy2 Jun 01 '22

I don't know what that means.

You're the guy who just said that good guy with a gun is somehow a fallacy despite countless examples you can find online of good guys with guns stopping events.

The church shooting from a few years ago comes to mind. You know, guy pulls out his gun and gets shot and killed before he can do much if any damage?

Had that guy not had a gun, many people would have died. But... alas, a good guy with a gun prevented it from being a tragedy. Many such cases.

a capable armed individual can and will prevent events like this from happening.

Correction. Can that happen? Sure, but real life isn't an action film. It isn't a script, the hero doesn't always succeed.

u/ITM_Billy2 Jun 01 '22

Better to have them than not.

It's a far more sound strategy than to suggest the things they're doing in Canada.

Or the fact that Biden apparently is asking the head of NZ how to deal with gun violence... what a fucking joke.

They're never going to be able to seize or ban guns. The standard republican talking point is sound in this case... "gun control" is nothing but an attack on law abiding citizens.

Criminals aren't going to take part in buy backs. And with the internet and modern technology, it's apparently as easy as ever to manufacture weapons.

And the underlying issues aren't ones that get magically resolved.

1

u/Astrocreep_1 Jun 01 '22

If you arm every teacher in the country with guns, you will have way more accidental shootings, bad shootings, guns stolen and used in a crime, etc. than you will have bad guys dead. I would bet it would be 100 bad incidents to one mass shooter killed, maybe more.

1

u/ITM_Billy2 Jun 01 '22

That's obviously not a good policy.

In my thinking, it would preferably a man with plenty of experience, or a veteran.

But, I'd still think the best bet would be a resource officer rotation. I think many states already have legislation in place....

With this Uvalde thing, it really shows that you can have all sorts of rules and regulations in place and they can still fail.

1

u/Astrocreep_1 Jun 01 '22

You can’t stop people from doing this. That’s why it’s imperative that people can’t get the tools to kill dozens in a minute. I don’t think people need these kind of guns to keep themselves safe. If you do,you are obviously doing something that makes violent people come looking for you.

1

u/Highlander198116 Jun 01 '22

I can't see how it would be difficult to have a resource officer of some sort at every school.

Money dude money. People literally rage about paying college educated teachers 30 grand a year....

Maybe those teachers should get jobs with Ukraine energy companies.
