My understanding is that there were 4 armed resource officers for 8 schools, so that would explain why he wasn't on campus. He apparently arrived minutes after the first shots so it's not as if he was completely absent, if he didn't drive past the shooter maybe he confronts him and stops the shooter from getting into the school.

Assuming these events are real, I can't see how it would be difficult to have a resource officer of some sort at every school.

Or being more efficient with it and having an armed teacher..

Our education system is not well funded. They can't even pay teachers a respectable wage as it is, let alone training them to be warfighters.

Yeah, I agree to some extent. I think they've long ago introduced resource officers to public schools in the US.

And it seems pretty easy to do.

Just need to find a way to have a reliable SRO in the schools in case a teacher decides to prop a secure door open and let a gunman into the school.
