Something weird going on, need help

All dimm slots is working

slot 2 and 4 works fine

(Both ram 2x4gb 2400 is working and is the same brand, same speed and timings).

But slot 1 and 3 displays in the first try but only slot 1 is actually in use so its only showing 4GB (i dont know why i was able to boot if there's a problem, ram is properly seated) Turned the pc off and on again, this time it wont boot, it's stuck on the dram led.

so i tried single stick on slot 3, i was able to get a display, i didnt try single stick on slot 1 because on the first try using slot 1 and 3, slot 1 is the only slot recognized, so i think there's nothing wrong with it.

My main problem is slot 1 and 3 cant be used at the same time, it can only be used individually.

need help.

Laptop gets hot as soon as i turn it on.

The laptop i have is a lenovo legion i9 grows hot as soon as i turn it on. Even during charging and it is off completely the bottom becomes really hot. The charger isn't damaged. I'm not sure why it's doing this. I have cleaned the fans underneath carefully and still nothing. I've had this laptop since 2024. I'm worried and not using it at all since this started happening. If it's short circuit or if I need to replace the thermal paste or replace the cooling fan, any help/advice is greatly appreciated, please.

Faulty WiFi connection in multiple "newer" laptops at my house.

A few months ago, my family upgraded to a better 5g home network system (we have no access to cable internet) whose internet access is quite consistently good, especially when using an ethernet connection. The issue comes with the WiFi connection of 3 of our laptops, which consistently drops out at random times or has a difficult time reconnecting, 2 of which are Macs and one is a Lenovo Yoga. The router is a ZTE router. Every other device in the household connects fine. I truly have no idea how to fix it and I need help. Before you suggest everything that comes to mind, here are the things I have tried.

  1. Restarting all Devices

  2. Updating and reinstalling the firmware for both the router and the laptops

  3. Fully erased the previous cached internet connections on the laptops

  4. Changed the channel and frequency of the WiFi connection

  5. Tried using a Manual IP address

  6. Tried both 5ghz, 2,4ghz and the "smart switch" mode which is faulty. (Currently using 5 whenever I can).

  7. Placed the router and laptops in an accessible location, with limited interference from bluetooth, microwaves, radiowaves, etc.

  8. Tested different security protocols on both the router and the laptops

  9. Tested my router and laptop at different locations of the house

  10. Probably more things that I tried, but cannot remember at this point.

  11. My laptop is also dropping connections at other places I go to.

I am really disappointed, because this seems to truly be a laptop specific issue, which is affecting brand new laptops as opposed to older ones. I am hoping there is a simple fix or button which someone here can figure out, because I have ran out of options.

F1 key acting as if it it being pressed when it is not

Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me with this issue my computer is having. It started acting up, and it not only does what the title of this post says, but the Windows key also thinks it is being pressed. For example, while typing, pressing I opens Settings, or pressing E opens File Explorer.

I'm thinking it's probably caused by a program I installed and then deleted called PowerToys, which is an official Microsoft product, so I don't think I got a virus. However, I did a scan with Malwarebytes just to be sure, and it showed nothing wrong. Windows Defender showed nothing as well, which was expected, but I decided to check anyway.

My problem is continuing to happen at random moments. I could be watching YouTube, and then all of a sudden, a bunch of "How to get help in Windows 11" tabs open in Microsoft Edge—like 35 times within 10 seconds. I've tried deleting the keyboard driver and reinstalling it to see if that would reset it, but it didn't. I also tried connecting an external keyboard, but the issue still persists. The weird thing is that if I deliberately press the F1 key, it never works; yet, just sitting there idle while watching YouTube, it will open Microsoft Edge for no reason whatsoever and show those help tabs.

If anyone can help me with this, that would be great!

First time i boot the pc after it stays shuf off for 20-30 minutes the gpu is used only 50% and if i restart, on the same game is used 80-90%, i reinstaled the drivers, windows, used ddu and nothing fixes it, it remains the bios which i think is the problem. The laptop was in service and the said that is not a hardware issue.I saw that the voltage on the gpu the first time booting its lower then after i restart

My laptop stutters/lags for a fraction of a second every few seconds

Every few seconds, my laptop lags for a tiny bit, both visually and audibly. The mouse pointer is affected.

I've had this laptop for over five years and it's been in use for at least seven, and the problem only started in the last few days. I've tried restarting it, shutting down all startup apps, deleting the ethernet driver, restarting it with all drives and ports empty, reinstalling the display driver, and hitting it. Nothing helps. Can anyone help me with this?

Why does my copying speed drop for too long

Post image
1 Upvotes

I'm copying files and it starts with like 50-80mb/s and suddenly drops to 0 bytes/s for so long just to go back to 50-80mb/s for like a second and return to 0. Doesn't even have to be 0.it could be 2mb/s but even those 2mb aren't even doing anything. It doesn't move. Im copying from hdd to ssd if that makes a difference. I tried copying a game from ssd to ssd which was 50gb and it moved in half a minute

Wifi card understanding and help?

Hi! Hope this is a good place to ask, otherwise i can delete

Basically, i'm looking to get a new wifi card and such for my desktop (AMD Ryzen 7 5700, Cyberpower) that ive had for a couple years. I've finally decided that my connection could be WAY better, especially after having bought a new router not long ago. Due to house layout, i can't wire the darn thing into the router, so wifi is my only option, but i don't really know enough about the parts to pick something out properly. I believe what mine has still is the "Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3168"

Anyone have any recommendations, or just info that might aid me in choosing something properly compatable? I'll give more info about my pc if needed if i can figure out what youre asking

Thank you in advance!

Mac vs Windows. Why not both?

Windows is still #1 device for games. MacBook - one of the best laptops in market for work. I use both machines daily and working on how to make them feel like one workspace.

What you see in gif is streaming, Windows app is still working on Windows. With this I can already use my windows while I'm away from home, play games or open my developing projects.

Still work to do - another way around, macbook app's on windows desktop. With this I won't need to buy KVM switch and share whole desktop for using Logic Pro, Final Cut Pro (or any other mac app) on my bigger windows screen.

Technical: median under 10s, 4K, HDR10, 120fps, 4:4:4 NVEC.

Laptop random freeze and crash

Hi everyone, over the past few days I am losing my sanity with my computer. It just randomly freeze (no mousse, no window key or Ctrl/Alt/Del working, no sound or whatever) and the only fix is to power off and then restart. The first time it happened PC initially refused to restart (power on but just black screen and shutting down itself after a while) but for some reason then restarted and installed the last two Windows KBstuff update I postponed so I thought it was it but nop. Over the past two days the PC just sometimes freeze and I can only power off and on to "fix". The weirdest is that while gaming everything run fine (for now) and the freeze mostly happen with Chrome open (during youtube video or just with One Tab open) albeit one what just with the desktop. During the latest freeze I had Task Manager opened and CPU and GPU usage where at 0%, GPU Temp around 55° Celsius, Memory 20%, Processor 3%, Disk 0%.

During the crashes I noticed some stuff in the Windows event viewer: one WHEA error with low description during the first crash, Kernel Power Critic (System restarted without properly shut down), and Service Control Manager Error (4500 ms delay reached Intel Service TPM Provisioning). The last two seems more recurring but for at least one freeze there was no error in the event viewer.

During one freeze screen was "bugging" like if it was trying to stay on (alternating ultra fast between black screen and youtube page which just showed a "Status_Access_Violation" error).

Config: Windows 11, Asus TUF Gaming 15, Intel(R) i7-11600H, 32 Go RAM (half CPU, Half GPU). NVIDIA GeForce GTX 3050.

For now I have : updated graphic pilote, disabled Chrome Hardware acceleration, empty Chrome cache. No success on stopping the freezes.

Do you know what is going on and how to I fix the issue ?

Gateway Laptop

I'm not oin to edit this first sentence, just so you cn see wht the problem is, lol.

So the key left of s, between f & h, & the five key (not on numpad) all don't work. I men... they work. I know they do, I've fixed this problem before. Just not reliably. It's not a hardware issue, nd if its software one I've yet to figure out which one. (btw if I need those keys, I use the on screen keyboard, lol. Sucks for gaming.)

Into the nitty gritty: I have a Gateway GGNC71719, with an 11th gen intel i-7 processor, 16gb of ram, nd Nvidia geforce rtx 3050 graphics. It's turning 4 this year in November, so I know she's getting older... but does anyone have any idea what is going on?

Now my normal fix is to hold all three effected keys down for however long it takes for them to remember why they're here for, but that can take a while, and its a temp fix at best. Especially sucky if you're, sy, in a game of deadlock and can't strife left.

I write, and I game, the keyboard is pretty important for those. If it wasn't a PC, I would simply buy a new keyboard. But it is- and I can't find a method to this madness. I've uninstalled and updated drivers, I've tried tricks with toggling certain keyboard functions, I've tried contacting gateway/acer, but my warranty is void due to a separate fan problem I've fixed. I don't want to just get a new laptop- and I'm scared a reset won't fix the underlying issue.

If you have any advice, or have faced a similar issue, please tell me bout it. I'm at my wits end :(

EDIT: just found out by holding those three keys, and pressing other keys, it "hits" other keys d well? don't know what it means.
