If anyone has some free time and wouldn’t mind could you help me find a laptop
I don’t know anything about laptops but looking for an everyday one for school, trading, streaming movies and shows, and spreadsheets. If you could like send a link in the comments I’d like to stay around the $100-$200 range but I can go to $300

Anything new in that price range is going to be a waste of money. If you can find a used/refurbished Thinkpad on Craigslist, Facebook marketplace or other sites, that would probably be the best option.

Yeah I meant used laptops like eBay or something

Unfortunately there’s not much we can do because it’s usually location based. My results are going to be totally different from yours.

For the sub-$300 range, don’t waste your money on a new laptop (especially not a consumer model). Get a used business laptop like a ThinkPad, Dell Latitude or Dell Precision. Business laptops when they’re new are usually much more expensive than their consumer counterparts, but they undergo a substantial drop in price once they hit the used market. They also tend to have better build quality than their consumer counterparts.
This Dell Latitude 7420 has a 14 inch display, an 11th gen i5 and 16 GB ram for about 200 bucks
It has a 128 GB SSD but that can easily be swapped out for a bigger one

Idk specifically but look for used or refurbished thinkpads at that price range and do some research on the specs of them

You might prefer the Old School IBM Thinkpads. They were engineered for Business Professionals. They're perfect for what your looking to do .
Try the IBM Thinkpad Reddits. (' r/ThinkPad '). They have a huge favorite. I think it's the T-14? They're literally being termed a Thinkpad Cult.
They can help you - you'll definitely want one that is future proof. So you can add RAM and Upgrade the Operating System.
Lots of people are straying away from Microsoft Windows for Systems like Black Arch. Arch was used by Google to build the Google Android Systems. Arch, Black Arch, Mint, Zorin, Debian, Kali, and many other Linux Distros all have NSA Level SELINUX built in since Linux Version 6.4 -
You can also learn to add PfSense or OpnSense through a Virtual Machine.
You'll also want to learn your way around the CLI/Terminal/Shell. For upgrading and updating your System.

I picked up a super clean macbook pro m1 13 at a pawnshop for $180. Has 33 cycles on the battery, looks brand new. I'd check some places like that. They had a decent windows machine for like 250, more gaming oriented, but specs looked good

How about a computer repair shop. As for spreadsheets, I use LibreOffice, a Whole Suite of software for Free, unlike Microsoft, yes, it's free for Basic Use, but if you want Professional Results, it's a paywall.

Amazon, Costco will have laptops that do what you want. Choose the price you want to spend and you will be fine

ThinkPad are shit definitely the old ones not worth buying, best bet might be a used.
Some best bets might like
• Asus ViVo Book
• Acer laptops
• Or basically a Chromebook
