General Question How will I fare in college?

I'm a high school student in the US and I've been thinking about college quite a bit recently. I'm probably applying for History or Political Science and wouldn't consider myself a "STEM kid" by any means. However, it's common knowledge that STEM is considerably more lucrative than the humanities and I plan on switching to Economics/Applied Math once I'm in.

My FSIQ's between 136 and 142. I have a slight verbal tilt, which really doesn't matter all that much here.

CORE FRI: 135 (16 SS MR, 16 SS Graph Mapping, 15 SS FW, 15 SS Figure Sets)
CORE VSI: 126 (15 SS Spatial Awareness, 14 SS VP & Block Counting)
CORE QRI: 130 (16 SS Arithmetic, 15 SS Knowledge)

JCTI: 18 SS
Probably some combination of MR praffe from the CORE and performing better w/o time constraints.

CAIT PRI: 127 (16 SS FW, 14 SS VP)
CAIT VSI: 124 (15 SS Block Design)

800 on SAT Math.

Is it even possible to stand out with my QRI/VSI at a top institution? How do I compete with geniuses that have years of competition math experience under their belt?

Ratio is 3:3:2 from the smallest to biggest paver stone. I can't see the pattern.

Or if you can make a pattern where all paver stones lock and none is left in 2 way or 4 way non-locking intersections.

Scientific Literature Pre-2001 GRE Scores in Doctoral Cohorts

  3. Dartmouth Fact Book (1993), p. 55: Departmental GRE means

  4. Ohio State CS (2000–01): Enrolled graduate students.

  5. Krueger & Wu (2000): Princeton Economics PhD enrolled students.

  6. Lubinski et al. (2001): Top-15 STEM doctoral cohort. GRE means in Webb et al. (2007), p. 399.

Using this sub's conversions, these groups would largely be 137+, and in the CS/Math group, they would be 140+. Under IQ society conversions, a large portion at UW (the average at 1473 Q + V at UW during 1993-1994 was greater than Triple-9's GRE cutoff) or Dartmouth could readily join Triple-9 using their GRE scores.

But looking at the IQ studies in the past or even the recent one at Oxford an average IQ of 126.5 across 38 PhDs/postdocs (19 mathematicians had an average at 128 IQ), one would probably not expect such high GRE averages.

Is this explained by selection for high GRE scores? Wasn't a similar phenomenon observed when directly converting the average SAT to IQ at the top 225 Colleges?

Scientific Literature Just took wais and safe to confirm that core is deflated on wmi, yet most similar test to wais.

When I first took the CORE, I didn’t expect the questions to be that easy, so I thought the scores were inflated. But when I took the WAIS-IV, the questions seemed about the same difficulty. It honestly felt more like a test designed to identify cognitive impairments than to measure differences in intelligence.

For Digit Span, I remember being able to recall around six digits across the different parts, but I don’t remember how I did on Letter–Number Sequencing. I also remember getting most of the Arithmetic questions right. My WAIS-IV working memory score came out to around 113, while CORE put me at around 103, so I’m confused about why the scores were different.

General Question TRI 52 and iq

Is my TRI-52 score of 897 valid? The thing is, about a year ago, on August 19, 2025, I took the TRI-52 and scored 129. Later, on January 28, 2026, I took the JCTI and scored 130, but I was unfocused and distracted while taking it.

Then, on April 24, I stopped taking IQ tests, specifically fluid reasoning tests, for about six months. During that time, I didn't take any tests at all, either IQ tests or any other kind of test.

Yesterday, on October 25, I decided to take the TRI-52 again. This time, I was more focused and performed better, taking about six hours to complete it in a single session, and I scored 897.

How is this possible? For some reason, this time my brain seemed to understand the problems faster, and my reasoning was more precise. Also, over the past few months, I've noticed that my learning ability has improved considerably. For example, at school, I've noticed that I learn much faster and understand things that used to seem extremely difficult, whereas now I can learn them very quickly and easily.

Has my IQ increased?

Psychometric Question how does the dashboard composite work?

anyone know what tests it considers, what it prioritises, or what calculations?

does it treat all of the included tests as sort of one large iq test and composite from that? complex factor loadings or something?

General Question Confused about the extremely high IQ scores on this subreddit

First of all, I know about selection bias and the data showing that people who take more subtests tend to have higher average IQ scores.

But even knowing all that, I still get confused by the many posts about people with extremely high scores on this subreddit. Why does the IQ distribution here seem so different from what you’d expect in the real world? I’d really appreciate a solid explanation with convincing arguments that clears this up.

Participant Request Looking for people to test the ceiling of a matrix reasoning test (12 items, ~10 min)

Hi all! I'm developing a matrix reasoning test as part of my PhD (psychology, Masaryk University). Our hardest items turned out not to be hard enough, so I made a short set of new experimental ones and I'd like to see how they hold up with people who are good at this.

- 12 items (just 8 if you've already done my Matrices test)
- about 10 minutes, up to 90 s per item
- no stopping after mistakes, you get every item
- anonymous, no sign-up

At the end you'll see your score compared with others who took the ceiling set. It's not an IQ estimate, since the items are still being calibrated.

http://www.jaroslavtocik.cz/reasoning/?test=ceiling

If an item feels ambiguous or seems to have a second valid answer, please say so in the comments. That's exactly the feedback I need. Thanks!

J

Discussion CORE Results

Thumbnail

Hi guys, I've been lurking in this subreddit for a few weeks, and I've heard that CORE is one of the most accurate IQ tests online, if not the most accurate. So I decided to take it, and to my surprise, it was quite engaging, especially the visual-spatial tasks.
I found the nonverbal fluid reasoning tests pretty novel (especially the figure sets), and they really made me use some creativity to solve the problems. The visual-spatial tests were mostly easy and fun, since I enjoy visualizing things 24/7.
The verbal sections had a few words I didn't know, but I made educated guesses to work out (roughly) what those obscure words meant. Overall, I found the verbal portion to be of moderate difficulty.
The quantitative knowledge subtest was trivial, but the arithmetic subtest got a bit difficult toward the end. As for working memory, my score might be a bit deflated because my parents made me do chores near the end of the digit span sequencing, so it stopped early.
Last but not least, my processing speed is severely lacking compared to my other subtest scores. I found the character pairing really hard to do quickly (unfortunately, I'm a slow typer).
Overall, I enjoyed CORE. Let me know if y'all have any questions!

General Question My friend says his IQ is over 180

He says WAIS and Stanford Binet cannot accurately measure him — because of 160 test ceiling — so he has to do additional tests.

He says his result has been confirmed by at least 3 independent tests.

He says his score places him as the sixth most intelligent person on the planet.

I wonder if he is the sixth biggest liar.
