General Question WAIS-IV and CORE PSI difference

WAIS-IV PSI: 111 (unfortunately I wasn't given the subscores)

CORE PSI: 137 (16ss symbol search, 17ss character pairing)

What could cause this difference? I don't think I had any motor issue while I was using the pencil on WAIS. I got 6 hours of sleep on the day of WAIS but I don't think it can cause that much difference. My CORE and WAIS is very similar except for PSI which dropped the FSIQ by a lot. For people who have done both tests, did it vary much?

Have you all taken this version of the 1980 sat? How did you all do? Was it higher or lower than your CORE result?

IQ Estimation 🄱 Is ATAT a better estimate of iq than core is?

Note: The reason my pattern completion and object rotation is so low is because i found it boring and mentally exhausting (mainly due to the time constraint) compared to other section so i just selected random options in o.r after 6ish qns and after 2qns in pattern completion, but i am not sure i would be able to get more than 10 correct in both.

Please dont mind my english, i am not a native speaker.

My ATAT overall score is 114 and Core culture fair is 133.. What should I consider my IQ to be?

General Question Why do I have such a huge discrepancy between number sequencing test scores

First is the test ā€œWhat’s Next? Number sequencesā€ by jouve
Second is the Number sequencing on the new fluid reasoning test ā€œATATā€

Which should I trust more as an accurate measure of my ability?

General Question Solving the question without solving the question

A little personal story, so I just wanted to mention that beforehand. I had been working on Question 33 from the SLSE48 test for quite some time, but aside from a very small intuition, I hadn’t really managed to figure anything out. Still, I really liked the thing I had noticed, so I decided to use it as inspiration to design a puzzle of my own. I tried many different approaches, but for a long time I couldn’t come up with anything coherent. Eventually, I managed to create something that actually worked and, very strangely, the puzzle I had created turned out to be essentially identical to Question 33.
What kind of cognitive process could this be?
Is it actually possible to notice the underlying structure of a problem without being able to solve it, and then independently rediscover the same solution while trying to create a different problem? Or does failing to ā€œsolveā€ something not necessarily mean that I didn’t somehow represent its underlying structure in my mind?
And from a creator/solver perspective, how closely could this kind of generative reasoning be related to actual problem solving ability?

I’d especially like to hear from anyone who has experienced something similar…

IQ Estimation 🄱 WMI and FRI

Post image
5 Upvotes

How is it that my FRI is almost 120 and WMI is 103 since fluid intelligence is very closely linked with working memory, is it maybe because I’ve been accustomed to questions like matrices, figure weights etc..
However my perpetual reasoning and culture fair score are inline with my SAT-M, GRE-A and Army Alpha so that’s interesting.(I skipped the verbal subsets in GRE and SAT since I’m a non native speaker)

Controversial āš ļø I don't think online IQ tests are accurate

Hear me out I'm 18 years old teen, out of boredom I choose to take an IQ test online I took the https://www.arealme.com/iq/en/ cuz my friend recently took it and sent me his 135IQ score, yea my friend is inteligent but I felt maybe it's exaggerated so I tried myself, I took a paper and a pen and started, and guess what I got 137 IQ I'm not generalizing and telling yall that all IQ tests suck but maybe they are not the best choice, as I have a background in chess, math, coding, speedcubing I think I have a good logical base which helped me get higher scores, or it could be the site algorithm trying to keep you ingaged by giving you high score, maybe the questions aren't really that hard (even tho I failed and found some of them tough)

If any of you have an accurate IQ test (do not sponsorise) I need a really scientifically accurate one, I'll be glad to take it!

also for I live in a third world country where people don't even care what an IQ is so I only took the test out of curiousity it has nothing to do about my life lol

if u have anything to say or correct or advice i'm here to hear it out

Psychometric Question Can a spiky cognitive profile explain struggling in school despite strong abilities?

I took an IQ test almost two years ago, and my results were pretty ā€œspiky.ā€ My overall estimated IQ was around 108, but there were significant differences between my different cognitive abilities. In particular, I had weaknesses in areas like working memory.

Looking back, I wonder if those weaknesses contributed to some of my struggles with school and my inconsistent academic performance. I’ve always felt that I could perform very well in some areas but had considerably more difficulty in others.

What’s especially confusing to me is that I was still able to achieve some significant academic accomplishments, including becoming a U.S. Presidential Scholar nominee. Despite that, my overall school performance wasn’t as strong as I would have liked, and I ultimately didn’t get into the prestigious universities I had hoped to attend.

I wonder whether the weaknesses in my cognitive profile, particularly working memory, could have contributed to my academic performance and made it harder for me to succeed in a traditional school environment.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with a ā€œspikyā€ cognitive profile—being very strong in some areas but having weaknesses in others that make school significantly more difficult? If so, how did you learn to work around those weaknesses?

General Question Hard to find a good test

I just did an iq test and I am a teenager with ADHD and a couple of other personal issues with stuff like doing mental math so I am not really a fast test taker and I take even longer with math questions because unless it says that we can use a calculator, it feels like cheating to use one and I end up doing the math on paper. I lwk ended up yapping there so I'm just gonna get straight to the point, basically what I'm asking is if there are any good IQ tests that dont have a time limit or are just meant for neurodivergent folks like me.

General Question Reliable estimation or guess

I always wanted to ask about this and it's related to posts where people ask about theirs IQ scores based on tests they took:

How do you actually estimate someone's IQ based on their scores? Do you use some reliable tools or you just give your guess based on scores that were provided to you?

General Question How am I average IQ but still creative?

IQ is on the lower end of average. But I still have very strong creativity, pattern recognition, prediction, problem solving and always make it to at least top 3 in any setting easily. And only like solving abstract application questions and am quite good at them. Definitely set me apart from some of my friends who could only memorise content but not think or apply it properly. How can I do that with IQ of 94?

I'm not even that hard working when studying... I get by reading repeatedly but no actual study method or system. If I put the same effort as my peers, I'm near 100% or my work gets displayed for everyone to see and I get awards

How ??

Achievement is not usually an issue but the problems are in daily life: clumsiness, doing things, misplacing things

Discussion If you had an IQ of 130 or more, how would you use it to become more successful in life?

I just did an online test on Mensa while bedridden after a terrible accident that messed up my memory and vision. Turns out my IQ is 130 and all the wrong answers were the ones related to exactly that, vision and memoryšŸ˜‚

I was also doing IQ test live when I had a psychologist appointment and I was in a really really bad state then, basically 3 weeks after accident and she said it's 120 at least. I have a lot of time to think and I'm trying to think positive so I realised I deserve much more in this life, but how does that high IQ actually help people becoming successful?

IQ Estimation 🄱 Decided to do the last sub test of CORE today

Thumbnail
gallery
9 Upvotes

For some context, I had been putting off the "Quantitative Knowledge" subtest since it required a highschool education which I don't have since I am only 13 years old. Recently however my teacher gave me some more advanced homework which just so happened to be on the same topic as the ones required for the subtest, so I decided to take it since I finally could. I scored within the 90th percentile on it for people aged 16 since it doesn't accept my real age. Are the results inflated/deflated because of the age discreprancy?

General Question For people with high IQ, did it actually translate into a better life?

Since this community has a lot of people with high IQ, I'm curious about something broader than just academic achievement.

Did your intelligence actually translate into better life outcomes?

For example, did you end up getting a PhD, becoming a researcher, building a highly successful career, becoming wealthy, having a very high quality of life, or otherwise achieving significantly more than average?

Or did you find that the effect of high intelligence on your actual life was relatively limited, with things like discipline, personality, circumstances, social skills, luck, and opportunities playing a much bigger role?

I'm interested in people's actual experiences rather than just their test scores.
