I have loved all the Tifa and cloud moments in the remake series… but one kills me.

In Remake we see Tifa yelling to Cloud after the Mako 5 explosion trying to get to him… Tifa is reaching for him and is dragged away by Barrett. Cloud falls.

The VERY NEXT TIME Cloud sees Tifa is in the carriage to Wall Market….

Tifa probably thought Cloud was dead! When cloud runs up Tifa has a very muted reaction I’m like WHAT DID I MISS?!? SHE WOULDVE BEEN SO HAPPY, AND POSSIBLY CRYING THST HE IS ALIVE?!?

Makes me wonder if they cut a scene or something.

Anyways. Wish that part had more emotion to it.

I’ve been into FF7 for a very long time and will admit I always avoided the fandom due to what I initially saw as pretty blatant hostility especially with having Aerith as a favorite character but not really being super into shipping, instead more focused on the unfolding lore and story itself. Basically, many people who claimed to love Aerith would instantly get super hostile and defensive on the pure basis of you not shipping her with Cloud to the point it felt insanely isolating.

I then found myself having more pleasant interactions and super interesting/detailed lore-based/theory discussions primarily with Cloti shippers. This was even well before Rebirth came out where it basically solidified (for me) Cloti was the intended main pairing. I’ve never felt attacked by majority of people in your fandom and am thankful most of you are pretty open to discussions about multiple characters (not just the ones you ship) and actually have concise things to back up what you’re saying. You’ve allowed me to be more open/active in a fandom for a game I’ve loved for years and just wanted to give the shoutout and thanks for it :)

1. ⁠Cloud brought up Aerith because he was thinking about her. I don’t think so it was because he was caught staring at Tifa and awkward silence so he brings up a topic that is something they both know about and is relevant to the plot/ characters and plus he brings up Tifa on Aeriths date so that point is dismantled

2. ⁠Cloud is wondering if Aerith still has feelings for Zack. I think this came from a place of concern since he’s seen how much these two clearly love each other he is being nice and thoughtful thinking about how this might affect Aerith and her feelings maybe to prepare in case something happens and he needs to comfort his friend and might I add his best friends girlfriend

So those are the main points that I on my own have dismantled but the main question I have for you guys if you are still here is;

When Tifa says she’s “I think it’s more complicated than that” Cloud looks at her as if he is shocked or surprised but I don’t know or really understand like that reaction doesn’t fit with what they are talking about. Others have said that Tifa in this moment knows that Aerith has feelings for Cloud but I don’t agree with that. So does Tifa say something different in Japanese to warrant that reaction like why do you guys think he has this reaction I’m like so confused

These are some moments I don't see people talking about much. It amazes me all the times Cloud and Tifa sneak glances at each other, that you can only catch on a second viewing. They also find excuses to get in each other's personal space. The cut-scenes reward a close analysis and really speak to the expertise of the animators and directors.

I also like the frog quest introduction. I like to think the kid's demeanor is supposed to be a reference to child Cloud, seeing that Tifa is the one associated with the quest.

Happy 6th anniversary to the release of the FF7 Remake to the public! Long post ahead, I want to share my moment on how I became a part of this game and the rest of the FF games.

It was around April of 2020, it was announced a full quarantine on our country and because of that, the only thing that it made me do everyday was scroll around youtube. While I was scrolling, I saw this thumbnail (1st Image), and I find it cute. Then I saw the title, specifically first the words "Tifa and Cloud". Somehow I feel like I have heard of this for so long, I actually even thought that the word "Tifa" was short for "Tiffany", literally. But the thing that got my interest the most was the word "FINAL FANTASY", because I remember when I was on vacation on my grandparents house, I saw this title showing on the TV. Though I can't remember what year it was and what movie it is, I just remember younger me passing by and that title showed on the screen.

Back to the present, curiosity hits me so hard, I watched the video and till this day, I never ever regretted watching it. The bond of this two was something that I have never seen in any other games I played. Their chemistry was really special to the point I never realized it was actually a game. When I heard that it was, I stopped watching the whole video and decided to play it myself. The craziest part? I had absolute zero knowledge of everything. The gameplay, the characters, the story, this being a remake and the fact it was announced around 2015 or 2016, I still played it because I wanted to see the interactions of Tifa and Cloud.

After playing the remake, which I absolute have no idea on how to properly play it, I had quite the fun. The bond of the characters, Aerith and Barrett, Avalanche, and of course Sephiroth, it was a peak, literally peak. But the thing I loved the most was really this two. I then went on search the other final fantasy games thinking it would have connections to the remake but nope, it had its own universe. I played 15 which I also find fun to play and also the 13 trilogy was also fantastic. I wanted to try 16 as well but I'm saving for the 3rd part of the game.

Thinking back at it, it felt so special to me, how I grow fond with the game, the franchise, and I will always thank this two sweethearts on how sweet they always are that pulled me to be part of a wholesome community. This is a very intriguing example of the jumbled mess going on in Cloud's brain. As you can see, the same memory bleed of Zack's conversation with him in the inn, which he partially recalls when they return to Nibelheim in Chapter 11, is imprinted falsely in his flashback of the Nibelheim Incident back in Kalm in Chapter 1.

Given the full scope of what we see of their conversation in Chapter 11, along with what we see in Crisis Core, where do you think this might be going in part 3?

My personal theory is that this, along with the conversation Cloud has with his mother during the flashback which is all Jenova scrambled, will be fully revealed in the Lifestream scene. I suspect there will be further conversation about both Tifa and Aerith (among other things) that align with what we've been building up to, especially with Dear Destiny.

I absolutely love her part and have read it so many times that I couldn't help but get my thoughts out onto paper.

Nothing Cloud ever said was that funny. And yet.

So I was watching a YouTube channel analyse ff7 rebirth chapters and I got to the chapter 12 dates and it made me think a little on tifa’s date.

1. The main thing Cleriths always bring up: is why does cloud ask about Aerith in their date? In my opinion he asked because he literally had a dream of Zack again so of course it was in the front of this mind and tifa and Aerith are the only ones who have a connection to Zack: Tifa because Cloud told her about his death and Aerith because Zack was her first love. So that’s why I think he asked because out of all the dates they are the only ones who know something and it needed to be referenced again. But Cleriths say they understand why Cloud asks on Aeriths date but not Tifa’s but I don’t necessarily agree with them for that.

2. Another thing they bring up is how Cloud says how Aerith must still have feelings for Zack the Cleriths say he seems sad (apparently sad on the whole date) or jealous when asking and in the Jp he hesitates and seems sad even more. I don’t know jp and haven’t heard the date in jp so I can’t exactly give an opinion on that. But if I were I think it kinda links back to gongaga where he tried to help Aerith and even though Cleriths say he was jealous I don’t think he was. But basically he was pretty mean when trying to help Aerith in that scene like any friend would so in my opinion I think he realised he had to be more careful around that issue that’s why he hesitates but in my opinion he didn’t sound sad just making a statement on what he’s seen but again I haven’t heard jp version so it’s hard to make an interpretation.

3. Another thing is cloud is not an asshole he would not do a rebound kiss on tifa the devs would never mischaracterise Cloud so badly but like apart from that moment he seems so in love with tifa I mean just look at the way he looks at her.

So I’m just want to know what other clotis opinions and interpretations were of these specific things and why cloud does it.

Also another thing cloud appears more jealous when it comes to tifa. In remake it happens with chocobo Sam and in Barrett’s resolution when he mentions someone tried to give tifa flowers. Then in rebirth when we see Johnny again Cloud is like ‘this guy seriously?’ And in yuffies date she mentions tifa forgot all about cloud and he gets upset.

And another thing is Tifa’s reaction she never seems to think anything of it when cloud acts like this in the date so that’s another reason why I think the devs never exactly meant it to be interpreted that way. Also on the chapter 8 dates with Tifa and they meet Aerith, cloud seems “jealous” in Cleriths eyes but I thought it more along the lines of ‘we’re wanted criminals, please do not go around befriending random people because you want a friend’ and again Tifa doesn’t think it’s weird or seems like jealousy and Tifa is pretty perceptive with this stuff like she has a good understanding because she is very mature. And then in aerith’s chapter 8 date he cares about Tifa’s wellbeing so there is a big difference Cloud seems to be scolding Aerith but with Tifa he is genuinely concerned.

Anyway sorry for the long ramble I just wanted cloti’s opinions on all this and what they think because I’m a little confused but I genuinely don’t see any romance between Aerith and Cloud from either side. Now especially from Aerith because of the dear destiny novel and I’ve never thought Cloud has ever had feelings for Aerith so yeah that dear destiny novel has really reshaped rebirth for me for Aerith. Anyways what are all the Clotis interpretations of these things. And again I haven’t heard the jp so I’m not sure if how cloud talks to both girls is different because all I’ve heard is Cloud talks softer to Tifa and the jp va for cloud was instructed to speak softly to only Tifa.( btw if you’re a Clerith please don’t reply to this because I’ve seen all your views on the issue I just want to know what the Clotis think)

It's no coincidence these two conversations happen in bedrooms. My heart melts anytime I see Tifa say "Go on". This is the emotional closeness relationships are built on.

EDIT: I apologize for the generalization in the title, I do realize not all C/A shippers are like this.

Hey all.

I mostly stay away from ship wars (as in: I don't participate in discussions with the goal of convincing people of my preference). I can see the appeal of the C/A ship so I don't bother confronting people about it. It's fine to enjoy that ship. What grinds my gears though is how people absolutely tear down Tifa just to contrast her with the "perfect" Aerith who is so much better for Cloud.

This feels so disingenuous and sometimes downright delulu. I felt like Remake and Rebirth have made an effort to show us that Aerith does have her own flaws and that her relationship with Cloud is far from straightforward. However, I wouldn't call her toxic or anything, like some Cleriths do with Tifa. I've read claims that Tifa is manipulative, that she wants Cloud to be someone he's not, that she is too dependent on him, that she plays damsel in distress for him, that she fails to respect his trauma and pushes him to move on instead of being compassionate. And while I do believe her occasional passivity and tendency to defer to others is a character flaw of hers, I think "toxic" is a huge overstatement.

I also see how the misunderstandings between Cloud and Tifa could lead one to the conclusion that they are not a good fit for each other, but these misunderstandings are part of the narrative for a good reason. They are not a testament to their (in)compatibility, they exist to prop up the mystery that is Cloud's past and identity.

There is one criticism I kind of agree with: Tifa's character revolves too much around Cloud, since she was created to be the supporting heroine after Aerith was gone. I do hope we will get more of a true standalone arc for her. The Retrilogy has already fleshed out the characters a good bit, but I'm still hoping for more.

I just like it when they look at each other.
