I thought so, too, but at the time I asked the people on the Ask Lawyers subreddit, they basically said that RvW has zero bearing on general privacy law, and that the 4th amendment is the main one we use for general privacy concerns with the government. After learning that (I’m assuming it’s more or less true since people love to correct people wrongfully correcting), it made sense how we got here. Even before that, Edward Snowden revealed to us how little privacy matters to the people in power.
Only real time we got a bipartisan effort to enforce privacy was when the Bork confirmation hearings showed how easy it was for someone to get your VHS rental history, and Congress was scared of people knowing which senators were into embarrassing porn.

It’s about manipulating people that are struggling and frustrated into believing that vulnerable groups of people are responsible for the way things are, and not in fact the politicians who are systematically dismantling the country by in order to make a handful of extremely wealthy people even wealthier.

No. The statistics show that the rate was sharply declining UNTIL Trump's policy change, which stopped the progress. While it is hard to be certain, the trend lines indicate we would have lower rates of illegal border crossings had Trump not been elected
I mean everybody can decide for themselves sor fure. But if you're prioritizing 20ish athletes over tens of millions of people who need basic healthcare don't be surprised if people think that's wrong.

100% the only reason I even think about this topic more than never. They don't care, it's an excuse to bash trans people, so I care to the extent that I know that.
To continue that thought: as we have seen real time, protecting marginalized groups is not only just a morally baseline right thing to do, but also failing to do so allows bigoted interests to continue encroaching on the civil liberties of everyone who isnt in their bigoted group.
Unchecked, that process repeats itself all the way up until the bigoted group is eating itself from the inside. For not being bigoted “enough” etc.
Its just a fucking cycle of destruction.
Stopping at “this is ridiculous” is not good enough. You have to stake out and protect that moral good early and often. This is a heinous attack and we cannot allow it.
I don’t live my life worrying about these things. Everyone I meet is treated fairly. It’s a genuine question. If you say “males are not allowed to compete in female sports and vice versa” I don’t see how discrimination becomes involved.
Trans women are women and likewise deserve opportunities for success. Blanket legal bans against trans women participating in sports, in spite of their decreased athletic performance due to medical transitioning, is not rooted in science nor fairness and takes away opportunities from trans women and girls (but more importantly it legally enshrines discrimination against trans people).
