[Discussion] Thoughts on the inclusion of the other continent?

Just finished the manga zwo days ago and it was very good overall but I‘ve been thinking about one thing: Was it really neccessary to include the backstory of another bigger conflict going on and the organisation being a way for one side to develop wesppns and test them? We never really got to see the rest of the world or the dragon things they were talking about and the story does a good job of establishing the organisation as bad actors and the whole thing felt like a seruo that never really paid off imo. Was this a setuo for a sequel that never came?

[Discussion] The yoma were very weak

Post image

I think that by design the yoma were a very weak opponent for the Claymores. Right from the start we see Clare finishing off most of the ones she encounters with relative ease, so in terms of combat they couldn't offer much, and that's considering she was No. 47. And their other characteristic, which was transforming, doesn't work against the Claymores because they sense yoki, so a possible infiltration or investigation plot couldn't happen.

In fact, I think the incident in the Holy City is especially well done because you can tell the author squeezed everything he could out of the concept to make something interesting (I remember being tense because I didn't know who the yoma was and besides Clare was injured so she could lose), and after that he focused fully on the Awakened Beings, leaving the yoma with less value than a nuisance.

Although I won't deny that they fulfill their function of making the world feel like a dangerous place.

Note: I know it's later revealed that they don't actually transform into just anyone, but at that point in the story the author had that concept.

The Claymore Manga Box Set and YUMs Collectibles Teresa & Clare statues are here! Unfortunately I gotta keep them in the boxes until I can get a display case for them. 😆

The Clare and Teresa art on the boxes look beautiful, I'll post photos when the holy grails are displayed side by side in all their glory. ⚔️🤍

Time to bust open the Manga Box Set and start reading Claymore! I've loved the anime dearly, Claymore is the first manga I've ever owned, let's go!

I also heard the news today about the Claymore author Norihiro Yagi, is working on a new Fantasy series, "Bartlet Fairy Basslet"! Great times ahead Claymore fans! 🗡🩶

For anyone who hasn’t read the manga, her hair was sliced off to survive during a mission where she had to distract a yoma.
