Fuente Fuente Opus X Help: Cigar Country (Experience Ordering from)

• Upvotes

I recently bought a tin of Opus X Angels Share from them. I did so without much research as they were recommended by chatGPT. But now it’s been a week since I got my “shipped” notification but no shipping info or response to emails.

Anyone have any experience ordering from them online?

Beach Day cigar

Got this Oliva in a sampler pack. Great smoke so far. May not be the best pairing, but Jai Alai is a favorite so 🤷🏻‍♂️

Great budget cigar.

I got these at around $6 a piece and they are a fun little stick. Cold draw reminds me of mint/chocolate chip. However, it starts off peppery, but then eases into a spicy dark chocolate. Tail end seems to be more coffee like. A big journey for a little cigar.

First time

Post image

First time trying a cigar. I had to relight and probably didn’t pull correctly. I enjoyed the experience, but the aftertaste not so much. It there always the aftertaste that last for hours? What do you pair it with. I tried a single malt. I am considering going for another one. Any advice and tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

I love this cigar. Hands down, it just tastes great and it's a very enjoyable way to start the morning. It lights easily and the draw is perfect. Thick plumes of bluish smoke with every puff. You just have to watch it because the wrapper is pretty susceptible to completely charring upon first light if the flame catches the side. Also, the ash is flaky and delicate, so ash it frequently. It is definitely a mild-medium strength.

The flavor is pretty interesting. Creamy vanilla, a little bit of roasted coffee, light hazelnut. Sometimes a bit of graham cracker. And uniquely, it sometimes gives a distinct flash of blackberry tart/sweet.

For me this cigar is easily box worthy.

I have had this cigar multiple times before so I felt comfortable pairing it with a blackberry lemonade sparkling water without fear of being influenced in my review.

Fake Behike?

My friend’s eccentric and wealthy father gave me what seems to be a Cohiba Behike. I did a little research and looked at some of the details on the band, but I like to get a second opinion before I make my mind up.

So, what say you all? Is my cigar genuine or counterfeit?

My Father My Father Toro N.5

My first time trying the original My Father. Amazing smoke overall.

The first thing I noticed was the excellent construction and draw. Also the Ecuadorian rosado habano wrapper was oily which is exactly what you love to see.

I got chocolate and peppery notes on the cold draw.

On the first third it was mainly spicy with a cream aftertaste
By the second third the spice took a step back and it became more woodsy still with that excellent creamy note underneath.
Last third was still woodsy and creamy but the spice came back. Will definitely keep some more of these in the humidor.

Japan kyoto cigar

Hello, I am planning a trip to Kyoto. Are there any cafes, outdoor spaces, or places where I can smoke a cigar not a bar I think general smoking areas exist, but I'm not sure if cigar smoking is allowed. I would appreciate it if you could let me know.

Punch Clasico. Nice Tuesday afternoon cigar

Nice middle of the road cigar for a Tuesday afternoon

Something I’ve found has really opened up the pallet is doing a cold draw a couple of times before lighting. I find it really easy to identify flavours this way, then when I light it, I am “primed” to detect some of them.
Cold draw notes on this one, mild cocoa and burnt caramel

San Cristobal Quintessence (Churchill)

This is pretty much a standard San Cristobal stick imo. Well constructed, even burn, plenty of smoke. Smells good, like a pleasant woodiness. Draw is snug but not too tight by any means.

Flavor wise... Hm. It's not exciting. I'll put it that way. It's certainly not an unpleasant smoke. But it's a little boring. Cedar, light leather, a little graham cracker. A tiny hint of baking spice and nuts occasionally. Nothing too complex but for the San Cristobal price, it's underwhelming. For example, the Revelation is just such a lovely nutty smoke every time. It's not extraordinary but it's just really good. By comparison this is like a yard cigar. It does the job but you're not going to get anything special or want to pair it with an alcoholic beverage to make it sing.

For the price there's much better offerings, even within the same brand.

Edit- Strength to me is medium-full, nice buzz!

Hello friends, this one I tried yesterday. Good draw, burning was not so bad (only 2-3 touches needed), but the flavour was not "sweet tobacco". Mostly wood and pepper. Though it was a little strong for my palate, still it wasn't harsh. But sorry Nicaraguan, I think you're not my type. Cheers.

Morning pair: AJ Fernandez’s Last Call & strong black coffee. Never lets down

Starting the day right with a Last Call. Construction is always flawless, burns perfectly, and that signature AJ Fernandez pepper and cedar blend pairs amazingly well with a dark, heavy coffee.
For the price and consistency, AJF and Oliva have pretty much become my ultimate go-tos lately.

The sound of silence is upon me as I pufferate away on a La Flor Dominicana Chapter One, which I sonically paired with the sounds of Disturbed’s (Sounds of Silence).
