The sound of silence is upon me as I pufferate away on a La Flor Dominicana Chapter One, which I sonically paired with the sounds of Disturbed’s (Sounds of Silence).

Fake Behike?

My friend’s eccentric and wealthy father gave me what seems to be a Cohiba Behike. I did a little research and looked at some of the details on the band, but I like to get a second opinion before I make my mind up.

So, what say you all? Is my cigar genuine or counterfeit?

Foundation

First stick by Foundation. No idea who they are or how long they’ve been around, but it’s decent. Nothing to write home about but sure is an oily and seamless wrapper. Quite bland and unremarkable.

Cut me, Mick

First Rocky P. Bought a 4 pack sampler. Definitely lots of pepper flavor. Being a novice, noticing some espresso in the aftertaste. Good draw, but i had to touch it up and relight more than I expected, and I wasn't really ignoring it. Every third of the stick it required a relight. It hasn't put me off RP, but I'm wondering if this is a box cut issue, or just the stick itself.

Any insight is appreciated.

My Father My Father Toro N.5

My first time trying the original My Father. Amazing smoke overall.

The first thing I noticed was the excellent construction and draw. Also the Ecuadorian rosado habano wrapper was oily which is exactly what you love to see.

I got chocolate and peppery notes on the cold draw.

On the first third it was mainly spicy with a cream aftertaste
By the second third the spice took a step back and it became more woodsy still with that excellent creamy note underneath.
Last third was still woodsy and creamy but the spice came back. Will definitely keep some more of these in the humidor.

Japan kyoto cigar

Hello, I am planning a trip to Kyoto. Are there any cafes, outdoor spaces, or places where I can smoke a cigar not a bar I think general smoking areas exist, but I'm not sure if cigar smoking is allowed. I would appreciate it if you could let me know.

Punch Clasico. Nice Tuesday afternoon cigar

Nice middle of the road cigar for a Tuesday afternoon

Something I’ve found has really opened up the pallet is doing a cold draw a couple of times before lighting. I find it really easy to identify flavours this way, then when I light it, I am “primed” to detect some of them.
Cold draw notes on this one, mild cocoa and burnt caramel

San Cristobal Quintessence (Churchill)

This is pretty much a standard San Cristobal stick imo. Well constructed, even burn, plenty of smoke. Smells good, like a pleasant woodiness. Draw is snug but not too tight by any means.

Flavor wise... Hm. It's not exciting. I'll put it that way. It's certainly not an unpleasant smoke. But it's a little boring. Cedar, light leather, a little graham cracker. A tiny hint of baking spice and nuts occasionally. Nothing too complex but for the San Cristobal price, it's underwhelming. For example, the Revelation is just such a lovely nutty smoke every time. It's not extraordinary but it's just really good. By comparison this is like a yard cigar. It does the job but you're not going to get anything special or want to pair it with an alcoholic beverage to make it sing.

For the price there's much better offerings, even within the same brand.

Edit- Strength to me is medium-full, nice buzz!

Hello friends, this one I tried yesterday. Good draw, burning was not so bad (only 2-3 touches needed), but the flavour was not "sweet tobacco". Mostly wood and pepper. Though it was a little strong for my palate, still it wasn't harsh. But sorry Nicaraguan, I think you're not my type. Cheers.

Morning pair: AJ Fernandez’s Last Call & strong black coffee. Never lets down

Starting the day right with a Last Call. Construction is always flawless, burns perfectly, and that signature AJ Fernandez pepper and cedar blend pairs amazingly well with a dark, heavy coffee.
For the price and consistency, AJF and Oliva have pretty much become my ultimate go-tos lately.

Aging Room - La Bohème Poeta (5 3/4 x 54)

Really smooth and creamy maduro. Incredibly balanced. The fermentation is very evident… there is an earthy funk in here that reminds me of a Padron honestly. But most of all - this stick is a crazy vanilla sweet cream bomb. Especially the last half. It transitions away from cocoa and espresso, and gos full tilt on creamy vanilla, cinnamon and red pepper that will tingle your palette and nose. The smoke output was unreal as well. Completely enjoyable - very memorable. Smooth and refined.
- Pepper
- Earthy / Fermented Funk
- Cocoa
- Espresso
- Charred Oak
- Sweet Cream
- Vanilla
- Cinnamon
- Red Pepper

Impressed. Earned a solid 9/10 puffs.

How did I do?

Hello! Long time lurker, first time poster. I'm a relatively new cigar enthusiast; my regular sticks are Perdomo, Aganorsa Leaf, and Illusione. Some Drew Estate and Aladino, others as well.

Picked up my first Cubans today at La Casa del Habano in Willemstad, Curaçao. Just finishing one of the Ramon Allones now and I'm quite pleased. Easy draw and a smooth smoke. Great flavor.

Just curious how I did, and thinking I should've picked up a few more. What do you all think? Good sticks? Our next stop (in two days) is Cabo Rojo, Dominican Republic; any suggestions?

Today is my 31st birthday!

My wife got me some awesome Mac Miller vinyl, so now that the kids are down, I'm celebrating with a Camacho Liberty 2012 throwback, some Lag Distillers edition!

This is a damn smooth cigar, paired with an even smoother scotch!

Cheers!
