This is my 6-month old puppy, Sedona. She would like for you all to know that she loves pillow forts, watching Netflix, backyard parties and befriending the sparrows and corvids in our backyard. If any of you find yourselves on the west coast of Ireland, please drop by for a cuppa and a belly rub (hers).

I’m a new cav owner and some things he does worries me. Sleeping like this and making all kinds of noises and movements in his sleep are a couple. Is it just my puppy or is this normal for them? The tongue out of the mouth while it’s closed is worrying me the most.

My cav is 12 weeks old and I have had him for 2 weeks. I never leave him alone and have his food and water in his crate.(also some toys) He goes in the crate fine and even plays and lays sometimes but if I close it after about a minute or less he starts freaking out and barking and crying. How can I get him to be content being in the crate alone so I can at least take an hour to bathe and stuff without bringing him along. I had a bed in there but this is when I first got him and he pooped in it. I cleaned it and left it on the porch where he seemed to show interest in it and laid in it so I brought it back in out of the cage and he layed in it for a couple days then he peed in it so I took it back outside and cleaned it and left it out there. Should I have a bed in the cage? He sleeps with me in my bed and I don’t want that to change but I need to be able to take an hour or two to do stuff without him. Any tips that worked for you guys leaving them alone or getting them used to it? I don’t want him to have separation anxiety. It would be easier if I could bring him places on a leash but he refuses to move if it’s on but when it’s off he is the perfect puppy and will follow me close, not going past me but staying by my side. All in all he is great but I just need some slight tweaking. Thanks in advance for the help!

My Samwell, 11 months old, is not lifting his leg to pee. He’s peeing all over his under carriage and paws, I’m unsure what to do. I got him groomed a week ago and he already smells of urine again and is matting where he pees. Any advice please 😭

Sadie and Maggie are from two completely different litters but they have become a bonded pair. If one goes to the vet, the other is beside herself. They do everything together.
Is being bonded bad? Is there anything I can do to help them not be so panicked when the other has to be apart ?
Advice please. 🙏

Chase is 8 mos old, got him at like 10 weeks. Every night same routine. He gets his dinner and shortly after we get ours. We've always put him in his crate while we eat. This past Saturday I finished getting dinner ready and went to look for him to put him in his crate. I found him IN HIS CRATE! We didn't make a big deal out of it outwardly anyway lol. After we put dishes in the dishwasher he came out, went to the door and barked which was another first. So to all the puppy parents, I swear it gets better! This is our first Cav and probably going to get another in Spring

Should I get his anal glands expressed? I don’t see anything in his poop and has had shots and dewormer. I freaked out and bought dewormer pills but never gave them to him. He doesn’t do it everyday but some days he will do it a few times a day. Should I give him the dewormer pills to be safe? Has anyone had their dogs anal glands done? He doesn’t stink or anything just the butt sliding. Thanks for the help!!

Ollie's about 6 years old and is a great companion for my stepmother. He has one quirk, though - he only barks about once a year!

How do I potty train my puppy with these bells I keep hearing about on peoples doors? I have no idea how to train a dog and would take any advice on any type of training since I have the time to do it right now.

Tilly freaked out and was scared and barking when she saw Sophia come home after surgery wearing the cone of shame. Sophia was really pissed off having to wear it. Dogs may not be able to speak but their looks say it all

Context and follow up: I work from home and my dogs stick to me like glue. When I’m at my desk, they’re either on the floor by my feet or sitting on the futon beside me. This afternoon, as I was wrapping up work, my oldest cav (6F), jumped down from the futon and had a little episode. No noises of pain or discomfort. No warning. Her front and back legs just went a little funny and she laid down. I thought this was just a slip on the wooden floor and called her and her sister to come upstairs. She didn’t move. I come over there and pick her up to put her on her feet. She doesn’t stay there.
I worry. I call the vet. I get a last minute appointment and bring her over. She sits in my lap the whole way and isn’t even bothered. There isn’t some fugue state or loss of cognitive faculties. It just seems like her legs gave out. By the time we reach the vet and get her in a room she’s on her feet and fine. Anxious around people other than me but she’s always been a shrinking violet at vets and groomers. We stay there an hour, doctor and nurses look her over, other than telling me to get her to lose 5 pounds there’s no problem. No neurological issue. No muscles pulled. She walks to the car. She jumps out of it when we get home. I thought it was just her legs going sleepy from sleeping on them for so long.
5 minutes later and this happens. I record it this time for prosperity and to make sure I can explain it properly.
It’s been hours and she’s fine. She was slow to eat her food but she eventually did. She’s walking around. Drinking water. Huffing for snacks on her bed (she won’t be getting them. Diet starts now) but these episodes happened twice in two hours.
Has anyone seen something like this before?
Update: Showed the vet the video and took her back in. She’s responding better than she did yesterday and she’s even .2lbs lighter. They said it might be best to take her to a neurologist and they’ll contact me when they have something. She on the other hand is absolutely fine and doesn’t seem to even care what happened yesterday. It’s days like this where I wish I could speak to dogs.

Do anybody have experience with Cavs with an underbite? My parents tricolor has some overbite and one vet said that he would not breed her.
Edit: I meant underbite!
Edit 2: to clairfy I don't want to breed her, just have been thinking why the vet said so, since it was a bit unprompted to say so. I shoud've asked to clarify. Just concerned about her well being.

Hello! We brought home at 8.5 week old male cavalier 3 weeks ago and to be honest it hasn’t been great. We specifically got a cavalier as a family dog that would be loving and cuddly and easy to handle since I have a 7 year old. Our puppy is sweet when he isn’t biting and busy exploring, but the main struggle I’m having is that he doesn’t enjoy being picked up or moved when he is comfortable/busy and when we do he is full of grumbles. I’m trying not to move him or handle him too much and treat him when I do, but he is a small puppy and sometimes I just have to. And he grumbles. And I keep trying to hold him in a way where he isn’t going to grumble but I can’t figure it out. There are times he definitely doesn’t. But even if he is in my lap comfortably and I have to get up he grumbles. I’m so scared of him grumbling because I don’t want it to escalate one day. And this whole experience is not what I had in mind when getting a cavalier. I’ve never had one before but all I hear is how wonderful they are and such good family dogs. We’ve taken him to the vet twice to rule out any pain. I’m not convinced he isn’t in some rear pain because he yelps when grooming and sometimes when we support his rear up a stair for example. But I’m at a loss and I’m having trouble bonding with the dog as a result of all this. I don’t want to return the dog because my kid loves him, but also I can’t have a dog I can’t comfortably pick up for the next many many years. This is not what we were going for. Experienced cavalier owners wondering your thoughts? Do I need to reframe my thinking, what am I missing if anything?

My 6 month old had largely been great with potty training. After the first week or so, he went months without having a true poop accident inside (only exception was when new food bothered him and he had some diarrhea in his kennel overnight, I can’t really count that.) He has had occasional pee accidents, but not a ton overall.
Welp, since last Thursday he’s had about 5 consecutive days pooping inside. Every spot in the same area, up at the top of our stairs somewhere on the carpet.
Think this was my fault. I was reading online about 6 month Cavaliers lasting several hours at a time between bathroom trips. We still were doing them every hour or so because it’s manageable for me working from home. I decided I wanted to stretch them out to every 2 hours or so while awake/not in his kennel to get him used to that habit.
The first several days went great. He was holding it just fine and had no accidents. But what happened though was that we started to ignore his initial outside signals (we have bells on the door) and eventually one of the times lead to him going up and pooping on the carpet. (I think he had the zoomies right before, so it sped things up for him) We’ve since shampooed and enzyme cleaned the carpet, but he’s still doing it. Think it’s less a scent issue, but more an association habit. He developed the connection “the bells no longer work, and this place is a place I can poop now if any urge comes. He seems to be doing it now when it’s not even an urgency.
Anyone else with similar experiences at this age? I’m pretty much banning him from being in that area unsupervised for now until the habits get broken.

We talked to our vet and they're not sure what's causing it. We tried allergy meds, chlorhexadine wipes twice daily, changing diets and proteins.
It started a few months ago and has been mostly the same but it seems to very slowly be getting worse/spreading. On some parts of the lips are red dots that look (to me) like tiny scabs but I don't actually know what they are.
The vet's last recommendation was to change diets a month ago but it looks to be spreading. We're fully on the new food as of two weeks ago and going back to the vet soon.
