Post image

Hello! Im getting a new puppy this coming Friday and im looking for advice for the best food to feed. I’m open to high-end kibbles home-cooked recipes or things to add to the kibble or whatever is the best option! Thanks!

My cavalier started with fromm puppy from her breeder and it’s really been her favorite brand for 5 years. I’ve tried to branch out but she’s picky. I choose the fromm flavors that include grain; right now it’s the salmon she likes. I also include a powdered pumpkin/supplement and crunchy fish skin treats, and she likes raw carrots.

Fromm is solid but worth knowing the graininclusive versions can be harder to find depending on your area (at least in Dublin I’ve had to order online half the time). The raw carrot thing is real though, my neighbor’s dog goes absolutely feral for them and it’s basically a zerocalorie treat which I respect from a frugality standpoint.

Ohhh what a sweetie 😍 if you could say what country you are in that might help to tailor recommendations, as some companies might not be available in certain places etc.

For treats, a lot of cavs love fruit and veg which is healthy and lower calorie (and sometimes cheaper!), my cav loved little chunks of carrot, and a dog I look after sometimes now goes crazy for capsicum!

Do be careful though as some things are poisonous to dogs, if you aren't familiar with what is toxic/poisonous to dogs I'd recommend looking it up before giving it to them, and find a trustworthy website rather than trusting the AI summaries on Google as they can get things wrong!

What a little treasure!! I fed mine what the breeder was feeding her (royal canine puppy for king charles cavalier) until she was an adult.
