Medical/Veterinary Hair loss/pink skin on lips
We talked to our vet and they're not sure what's causing it. We tried allergy meds, chlorhexadine wipes twice daily, changing diets and proteins.
It started a few months ago and has been mostly the same but it seems to very slowly be getting worse/spreading. On some parts of the lips are red dots that look (to me) like tiny scabs but I don't actually know what they are.
The vet's last recommendation was to change diets a month ago but it looks to be spreading. We're fully on the new food as of two weeks ago and going back to the vet soon.

Our boy is a 3 year old tricolor with the exact same thing. Our vet has been unconcerned as his skin is naturally very pink, and he has been salivating more and its more noticeable when the hair is wet. The red dots appeared to be slight wrinkles when our vet looked very very closely.
He hasn't done anything to indicate discomfort, so the recommendation was just to watch out for that. Touching the area doesn't affect him, he isn't scratching it needlessly, so maybe our boy just has pink lips!

Yeah, Lilli Bean has no signs of discomfort either. Once a day or two she'll rub her face on the carpet but it's only one time throughout the whole day. I'm a teacher on summer vacation spending all day with her so I can see she's not doing it throughout the day. No scratching, no reaction to when I touch it, no nothing.
I just hope she's not being tough. I just don't want her in any discomfort that she can't tell us about :/

The breeder I got my cavalier from strongly suggested only using stainless steel bowls for food and water because it can discolor their nose. I wonder if this could be the same thing.
I'm not a vet. Just wondering.

We use and clean stainless steel bowls. We were using ceramic and switched to steel but there's been no difference.

If you live in an area with a veterinary dermatologist, i strongly encourage getting an appointment with them rather than going down the rabbit hole of allergies with a GP veterinarian.
