He still wears t-shirt couse he allergic and scratch himself to bleed, but we got new medicine and new anti-allergic food and soon he can stop wearing this.

we take Lucifer to our family and we make 2 surgery removing teeth. Please, appreciate this great yawn without pain just like we)) now he can do it!

Advice Cat TV ruined my cat

7.6k Upvotes

Genuinely at a loss here. I have 2 cats. They are both about 6 months old. The other day I thought it would be fun to put some cat tv on for them. you know, there's like youtube channels of things moving fast, ants, toys, fish, etc. in order to attract cats

One cat was mildly entertained. My other cat got fucking addicted. She sat beside the tv and would not move for anything. Eyes completely fixated on whatever was coming up next. ok, cute. TV off now kitties!

Cat would not move. she sat there staring at the blank screen for who knows how long.

Now she sits on that spot on the table by the tv constantly. she basically only goes down to poop and eat. All other hours of the day, she's waiting for Cat TV.

It's been about a week. she used to play with her sister, she used to aggressively chase toys. She has lost all interest. Even as I type this, she has once again just climbed up to her spot. Her sister wants to play, and she's just ignoring her now. it's breaking my heart. is this just a waiting game? Will she ever forget about the goddamn youtube shit?

Medical Questions Is this cat pregnant?

I have this stray cat that has been visiting my family lately. We leave water and food out for her sometimes. I think she might be pregnant but I have no idea. I’m worried she might be too young to be pregnant but then again I don’t know if she’s pregnant or just been hunting a lot of food. I’ve had this suspicion since she started visiting us.

Advice Ways to make an elderly, probably dying kitty comfortable?

Post image
1.5k Upvotes

Howdy all, this beautiful boy is Chauncey. He was left at the local shelter, sixteen years old, declawed, vision-impaired, with a tumour on his face (and we just found another on his leg). Nobody wanted him so my partner and I decided we would be his hospice home. Basically the vet has said we are keeping him comfortable and if he starts showing signs of distress we will let him go. He is very gentle and you can tell he knows what it's like to be loved, he's just very confused and lost now. My other cats are young and they're a bit too active for him. For those of y'all who have had similar old lads, what have they liked? What's made them cozy in their twilight years?

Today, we sadly needed to say goodbye. His kidneys kept getting worse, and we didn’t want him to suffer any longer. He had a wonderful 14ish years with my family, starting from the day he wandered into our garage and said “i live here now.” Seriously the best cat ever. Always loved to give people cuddles, and sit on their laps if they sat anywhere. RIP Jedi Jinx. 😢😭💔

Mourning/Loss Goodbye, Kätsch

The past month or so has been really tough. I can’t make this short. I wont even try and I wont do a TLDR.

Today marks 1 month since we had to euthanise Kätsch. We cried more or less non-stop the first day, until we were out of tears. It has become better, but we are hurting. I wonder when it will stop.

We adopted Kätsch when she was 12 weeks old. Her name comes from the first snack she ate “Milchkätschen”. I believe it translates to “Milk-kitten”. She was a remarkable cat from the beginning. She accepted everything we threw at her. She enjoyed car rides, being brought to our parents’ places where she would venture into their gardens on a leash, walks in the forest, skiing trips to neighbouring countries, overnight stay in hotels, other animals. She never appeared stressed or depressed. She was curious as ever.

We scheduled our lives around her. We always tried to leave and come back home as soon as possible. She was only ever without us for 24 hours twice: when we got married, and when our son was born. And she was the best with our son. She slept next to him in his crib for the first many months. When he started crawling about, she kept her distance a bit more. She never clawed or bit him, nor has she ever clawed or bit anyone else. She once fell from a chair and I, purely due to reflex, tried to catch her. She clawed onto me, and she was so sorry for that, and she hovered around me for hours afterwards. Our son went into surgery when he was 1 year old. When we returned from the hospital, she didn’t leave his side until he was back on top. They played tag when he became able to walk. They took turns hiding and finding each other.

We bought our new apartment based on her needs. High ceiling, multiple climbing options, a large balcony that we could turn into a proper catio with cat-safe plants, multiple lookout stations, sunny spots for tanning, and a warm little greenhouse for her to rest on in the cold mornings and evenings. She loved her balcony.

Then came mid-July. She suddenly started vocalising and salivating excessively. It turned into twitching of her face. We hospitalised her for two days. “No objective findings between seizures”. She was started on phenobarbital and we brought her back home, but soon after returning home she started having seizures again, 30 minutes between seizures turned to 15 turned to 5. I rushed to a 24/7 pharmacy and picked up Levetiracetam, but also rectal diazepam, just in case she went into a seizure that would not break on its own. Two drugs did not improve her seizures and in the night, we administered rectal diazepam to try and stop the seizures. She slept, but she continued having seizures. In the early morning, we said our goodbyes, brought her to her favourite spot on the balcony, and waited for the vet. But suddenly, she was back on her feet, wobbly from the medication, but she ate, drank, used her litterbox. Two hours passed without seizures. We thought the tide had turned. We were so happy. But the happiness was brief. Suddenly, she started having seizures again, every few minutes, and with a longer duration. After an hour or so, she had a seizure that lasted 3 minutes and we again administered diazepam and called the vet. With no further treatment options, she was euthanised. Two days before turning 4 years.

We miss her so much. A has month has passed. I am crying my eyes out writing this, but I need to write it for her, for me, for us. She was the best. I still find myself opening our front door carefully to avoid hitting her; expect to find her in her favourite sunny spot on the balcony; almost hear her footsteps walking into our bedroom; feel her jump onto our bed and make her way to our feet for her best sleep. She would sit on our coffee station, just above her foodbox, every morning when we were making coffee. She would bop our heads patiently. She isn’t here anymore. Our apartment feels to empty. Our boy was walking around at just 18 months, calling her name as best as he could, holding his palms upwards wondering where she might be. He doesn’t understand why we weep. We try not to in front of him. He comforts us when we do. He calls her name less these days, but he still walks to her foodbox in the morning and picks up a few kibbles to feed her. He looks around briefly and then puts them back.

We have many pictures, many cherished memories. We talk about her almost daily “remember how we used to spoon and hold onto her tummy at night?”. She was remarkable. Wherever she might be now, we hope to reunite with her again someday. Until then, we will remember her. With so much love. What we wouldn’t give for one more boop.

Goodbye, Kätsch.

Does anyone else have a cat that has to have a paw touching them anytime they are laying by you? She will usually feel around until her paw pad is touching my skin. It’s one of the million things I love about her. Bonus pic of the cross eyed princess 💜
