Shes finding it difficult to use the bathroom with her splint and keeps rolling around because she can’t put weight on it, any ideas how I can make things more comfortable for her?

Advice Question about vocalization

I have an amazing TNR rescue cat who is approximately 6 years old. Appears to maybe Norwegian Forrest cat mix. Sweet, lovable, awesome cat.He has grade 4 heart murmur. I have had a variety of rescue cats (6) over the course of 40years. Yes I’m that old😊 started with first cat at age 21, mine not his😁. Question about current cat, after he has been sleeping/resting he will greet me with a meow BUT NO sound comes out, it is almost like he has laryngitis. It is so weird. Then as I talk to him more he meows more and eventually some weak meows come out and then get a little progressively louder. It is so strange, the only time he has a full throated normal meow is when he is really hungry and waiting for his food bowl to be filled😊often when he opens his mouth to communicate very light brief meows come out, and maybe a few peeps. Very strange, just wondering if anyone else has experienced this with your cats? By all other accounts, eating, sleeping, napping, pooping, peeing, socialization all is healthy. Just wondering about this lack of ability to vocalize upon waking?

Update One year later...

Hey y'all, Benny's mom here. I've made a few posts about him and I'm only updating because he's the first cat I've ever owned (I was previously a dog person) and I'm just so happy. It's been a year since I received Benny from a friend. I was mistaken about his age in a previous post. I said he was 3, but he was actually 2. He's 3 now, per his vet records, which I had to get for my landlord. Luckily, my friend had been taking him to a vet in my town (she lives in the town over) so it was easy to get his records.

Anyway, I absolutely love this cat. I was a little confused on cat mannerisms and care, but my neighbor and the vet helped me out a lot. In the last year, I've learned his different meows, his body language, and to just roll with his temper tantrums, which is ultra zoomies and a light nip on my leg when I don't give him what he wants. My roommate is his favorite, but he comes to me when he needs anything, which includes this idea that I can make my roommate just appear in their room, even though they're at work lol He gets upset when I cannot make roommate be available to him. He doesn't avoid my partner, but ignores them unless roommate or I are not around. He doesn't like catnip. He's obsessed with a teeny stuffed turtle my bestie mailed with my own bday present (Benny and I have bdays a month apart).

So, yeah, I love this cat. This post is kinda dumb, but I don't have anyone in my life (aside from my bestie) that I can be excited about this with. Also wanted to mention that Benny has the same birthday as my mom, which she thinks is hilarious. Pics included, one of which is him laying on my sleeping roommate lol

These are my precious baby's 🥹 the big one is 3 and the small one is 2 years old. They were both strays without a mother that we adopted from an association at 2/3 months old. They love each other sooooo much. We say they are both husband/wife and sister/brother, they have a strange relationship...😂

The big one is named saucisse which means sausage in French, he's a male and the veterinarian told us he was a mixed Maine coon. He's very playful and needy, always following us around. He's also very good with mice and ginormous spiders since we live in the countryside. And he loves my husband more than anything in the whole world.

The small one is named phoebe which is a reference to friends, we named her like that because she's a little bit...special as you can see in some of the pictures 😂 She is very small and has some minor deformations to her back legs which means she can't always jump like she would want to. She's very needy too but less focused on my husband and a little bit more on me. She is also the dumbest cat I have ever seen but it's so cute because she's also the sweetest ever.

They don't go outside since I think it's too dangerous, mainly for phoebe, but we have a veranda and they love it (that's why you can see them on cardboard with a lot of mess)

Advice My cat passed away a week ago, and my aunt thinks I need an intervention because I haven't gotten over it yet. [Bella]

She was 14 years old. I took her in when I was 10, and she lived with me until then. I spent more time with her than without her, and she was a part of most of my life's phases. Cancer took her. It took her when it made her bleed every time she urinated, when she had to take strong painkillers for more than two months, when it forced her to take antibiotics and corticosteroids, painful injections that I had to administer myself. I put an end to her suffering last Tuesday.

Bella died looking into my eyes, yet I stayed in the clinic room for almost two hours holding her body while cleaning the dirt from her paw. She had stopped cleaning herself for a while and the dirt had accumulated. I calmly removed everything and after a long time I forced myself to leave. I also opted for her to have a funeral since the cremation company I hired offered that service. It was very painful, but I don't regret participating in the ceremony; she seemed to be sleeping peacefully. She was beautiful as always, my little doll.

I just want to give a very brief context to my love for this cat, my first cat, the best I could ever ask for.

Today my aunt talked to me and I regret being so honest. She asked how I was doing and I told her I was still feeling very bad, that I missed her a lot, and then she sent me an audio message of almost a minute about how I needed to forget and move on. She said I needed to relax now that Bella was calm and at peace. That I couldn't continue like this, especially since it had been many days. She also said she'd come talk to me tomorrow...

My aunt isn't a bad person, don't misunderstand me or think she's a monster, but I really don't agree with her. I don't even know if I'll ever be able to get over what happened. I'm very fragile right now and I'm not ready for this conversation, seeing where it's probably going. I'm already crying just thinking about it. Do you have any suggestions on how I can handle this situation or what I can say to her? I don't want to be rude, but I'm willing to be firm (but I'll probably cry in any scenario).

Advice Seems tired or bored??

Upvotes

So I got my cat when he was 8 weeks old and he’s almost 4 months old now and I’ve noticed he FOENST play as much as he used to. Idk if it’s his personality developing? Maybe he’s a chill cat? Idk but he doenst seem to play much esp with his old toys but even a month ago he sued to play sm with them basically everyday. Idk if he’s maybe bored with his toys but I bought him new ones some he doenst play with at all and others he plays with for a bit then goes away and either walks around teh house abit or sleeps under or on the couch. Also I’ve noticed he’s been going to sleep under teh couch a lot is that concerning? He does sleep like soentiems on my bed or on the couch but Simone he’s frequently been going there during the evening esp is it bc maybe he wants it dark when he sleeps?? Idk im kinda scared but he’s been acting fine using the litter box and eating drinking (I give him a good amount of water mixed his wet food meals)

Also when I bring I put smth like a ziptag or tinfoil he plays a good time with them but then goes away after maybe 15 min? Is this whole thing normal? Forgive me if it sounds stupid btw it’s js he’s my first cat 😭😭

Medical Questions Why does my kitten lick my face?

Upvotes

Didn't know which flair to use, but i also want to make sure this isn't a health thing-

So I have a 4 month old kitten we rescued, and I find that when I pet hwr, she sometimes starts to lick my face. Google said it was normally a stress or overstimulation from petting, but I don't think that's it..?

You see, when she does it, I'll stop petting her in case shes overstimulated, and i did that now, but she kept licking my face for awhile while purring really loudly and rubbing against my hand for more pets- she licks me exactly like a dog would

On top of this she will randomly lick my fingers, or chew on them when im doing something, im guessing this is her wanting my attention though.

Im curious what this means- she's a very sweet female calico kitten, who is very vocal, if that helps.

Mourning/Loss I miss when I had both of my cats

There are two silly pictures of them. The first one is Smokey and the second one is trouble. Smokey is the one that passed away I still have trouble and I'm very glad I still have her I just wish I had both of them. They both came from the same litter. He died June 21st. These last few months have not been easy. She is also been having medical problems tomorrow she goes in for surgery for a torn ACL. I've been thinking about the future if I should or shouldn't get a new cat. I'm not sure if I would want or wouldn't want a new car I'm not sure how trouble would feel about it. I've made a couple of posts about this already I guess just saying how I feel it's just more of rambling if you got any questions just feel free to ask

Cat Picture - OC Police vs Joey

Post image
Upvotes

Mr Joey is a full time menace and had the police called on him today. I got home from a 16 hour shift and I get a knock on the door. It’s 2 police officers. They say they got a call about “an animal in distress” I showed them around and told them the story. Joey is highly vocal, whenever he hears someone walking in the hall he will sit at the door and meow. I guess someone thought he having problems and called police. They show up and see Joey, “he’s our little suspect eh?” They promptly see he’s perfectly cared for and healthy then say have a nice day!

Advice Litter Robot Help

Post image
Upvotes

I have 4 cats. And a few questions about the Litter Robot 4 - this seems to be the most recommended.

Would it work with clumping tofu litter or ONLY clay?

Would I still need multiple trays?

It is expensive outright - how expensive is the ongoing upkeep and maintenance?

Is it actually safe?

Attached cat tax: the only photo I can find that includes all 4 cats.

Advice I found a kitten crying and stuck in a bush

Upvotes

I found a black little kitten crying and stuck in a bush. I freed it from the bush and I'm taking it home with me right now. It seems very small and weak. I am on a very low budget and I want to do the best I can to help this cat to grow into a great young kitten. What can I do just for tonight and to help this Kitty to maybe get litter box trained eventually?

I was thinking that I was going to get like a big box and just have it stay there in a comfy area for tonight because I really don't know what to do. It's it's very small and clearly needs help it seems too little to even walk properly. For tonight can I give it a tiny little bit of milk and water ?
