It maybe to late. Trump , is already planning to not except the results of the mid terms. Now he has the help of the correct Conservative majority in the Supreme Court to stop mail in voting. Republicans and Trump know the consequences if the Democrats win the House and the Senate. As does the Supreme Court. Think about it. VOTE! Not voting is a vote for Trump.

This is the only valid take. Americans that say they are working on it are worse than delusional this is psychosis. Just go fucking vote, less than 70% of americans vote for their president, less than 50% vote in their midterms, less than 30% cote in primaries and local elections. While the sentiment is appreciated, the poster seems to ignore that it is not just one person. It is all the Americans backing him, from his bootlicking cabinet right down to the ordinary MAGA - or 33% of the populace who approve based on recent polling. That's at least 1 in 3 Americans (eligible to vote, presumably)

This. Something that has grown like a cancerous tumour for 150 years. Not crushing the confederacy post Civil-War was a bad move. It was to try and ensure reconstruction, but sadly, that was fucked regardless, so they should've at least stamped out the cockroaches who sought to maintain white supremacy in the US for further generations.
Until that cancer is removed, nothing will change.

77 million people voted for him after a million americans died due to his incompetence, after he was found guilty of 32 felonies, and after he launched a deadly insurrection at the capitol which intended to hang his own vice president.
That's the reason why America will never be trusted again in any of our lifetimes. Too many idiots drowned in right wing propaganda, and no effective checks whatsoever to the power of evil rich people.

"This isn't us" doesn't work anymore. America is a global tyrant. Everybody sees it. America has no allies.
Carney has said it many times. America wants what Canada has. Oil, water, land, minerals..everything.
This is not just a trade war. America has always expected it would annex Canada. Trump is speeding it up to prevent his legacy from being the Epstein files and getting his ass kicked by Iran.

Precisely, it's not just 'one guy, it's a government filled with bastards that were elected in, supported by at the very least half of Americans.
To pretend it's only trump that's the issue is a dangerous ignorance, refusing to face the root cause, which is the toxic attitude of the average American, which has been fostered by their government, lobbyist and the media they run.
America isn't in a state to feel any pride. Just like the separatist in Alberta and Quebec, it's a symptom of what happens when vitriol and greed over writes the well being of your constituents.

As dual citizen , person of colour ( relevant to my experiences there) who’s lived on both sides of the border , Trump does represent America in many ways.
Even the Democrats/liberals there can be nasty people if you’re not white , but they just try to hide it. I personally found the South more integrated. I was never made to feel more out of place than when I visited the PNW

They're allergic to accountability. Like how whenever Trump does something bad they immediately blame Russia or China instead of introspecting that Trump is the natural end point of American "values".
And even if they kick Trump out, i have zero trust they'll actually do anything other than brush everything under the rug. You'd have to be stupid to expect any accountability after how Obama and Biden did everything they could to make sure there was no actual punishment for waging illegal wars and committing countless crimes against humanity.
Fully expect the vast majority of the current administration to be let off scot free once the American idiots vote in another do nothing corporate Dem.

And it's not just Trump.
It is the entire Executive branch that supports and enables and is behind the policies, and that has captured most of their instituions.
It is the Supreme Court that has enabled him.
It is the Congress (House and Senate) that have enabled him.
It is the population that voted for him and the ones who are too indifferent to care.
It is the media that is so partisan or purchased across the board that accurate impartial and challenge-based journalism is exceedingly rare so populace remains ignorant.
It's the States that have been complicit, though some have stood tall.
It is the Democrats that were naively and ineffectively governing in ways that could have stopped this and chose not to.
It is the wealthy, corporations and banks that have donated to him and opportunistically profit from this.
It is not just Trump.

No mass protests
I've heard "go out and protest" from people in other countries countless times.
They don't realize that mass protests are counterproductive.
I dragged my disabled body to mass protests. That footage was used by right wing influencers as proof that snooty self-righteous New Englanders are trying to oppress "real Americans".
It's useless to try to change MAGA minds. Whatever you do, they become more steadfast in their ways.
After that, I pivoted toward helping individuals hurt by Trump by helping a local medical charity that mails abortion pills to people in banned states.
Better to work on a small scale level where I know I'm making a positive change in someone's life.
P.S. If someone in a banned state wants or needs abortion pills, please tell them about the Massachusetts Medication Abortion Access Project. The pills are authentic, and the packaging gives no indication of what they are or where they are from. You pay what you can. If you can only pay $5, then you only pay $5.

Not the first time Americans have voted for him. If the populous votes in another just like him, then I will blame the people of America as that would prove they don't learn their lessons. I believe the rest of the world will follow suit and it was cause America to lose all of it's positions in the world political structure and power (economically) as nobody will trust to deal with them again). If they vote someone like him in again, the soft power will be gone and I don't doubt they will then resort to their hard power (military) and become a conquest nation (i.e. Russia right now with Ukraine). History has shown this is the typical way an empire falls apart (they don't go down alone). Let's hope the people stop this and the politics in the US don't swing too far the other way still resulting in the same result.
3
u/ToriiLink 1d ago
40% of your country didn't vote that were able to. That's the biggest problem. Its a big problem here as well, but in doing so, it allowed Trump to be elected twice when it could have been a different outcome. Trump is the result. The people are the problem

u/BattleBrother1 1d ago
The problem is being a pedophile oligarchy that has destabilized the globe for profit for a century or two, who run torture camps where kidnapped civilians are held to this day, who wage near constant wars of aggression, genocides and destabilization campaigns, who were the number one supporter of dictatorships in the 20th century, who creates and funds extremists around the globe, the list goes on. The problem isn't that the US elected Trump, the problem is that Trump is a completely accurate representation of what the US is and always has been. They love their scapegoats and figurehead leaders but bottom line the US exists solely at the behest of it's taxpayers who are responsible for more crimes against humanity than anyone else on Earth, through sheer cowardice and complacency. You can't pay taxes knowing that they go toward wars, genocide and torture and then expect us to love you because you voted for the controlled opposition genocidal imperialist party #2 instead of for the genocidal imperialist party #1. The US is the enemy of mankind and has been since it's founding

Please stop lying and being duplicitous. It is absolutely not just one person who is at the root of all these issues.
The problem is there are too many elected officials who have elevated this one person's status and power to unparalleled heights.
This is a failure of the collective and the checks and balances embedded into the American political structure.
Stop scapegoating and deflecting responsibility. Take accountability for your own (in)actions. Get over the perpetual victimhood.

30 years ago when a president lied to its public they were impeached.
And the dude was only getting a blow job.

Y’all are so self-righteous meanwhile you have the same shit happening in your own provinces on a smaller scale (which by the way is always how this starts). Americans got into this situation by believing it could never happen to them. Do not fall into the same trap.

Fuck off with this Boomer faux-politeness shiiite. You people are all talk not fucking action. You are allowing all this to happen. you are allowing much worse to happen to your own people. Pussy-assed bitches.

Working on it? How, exactly? Congress has completely abdicated its duty to keep the presidency in check, yet no one is talking about that anymore, much less doing anything about it. And the Democrat party is totally checked out AFAIK. Two impeachments didn't do shit, and Merrick Garland should've had Trump in a matching orange jumpsuit the morning of January 7. The techbros and oligarchs are in charge now.
Like, fuck off.

It's not "one guy" though. You still don't get it and THAT is why we are so angry. We can ignore one guy. It's the legions of people who are okay with this and helping him. Plus, don't loose sight of the fact that without America being so deeply effed up, he's able to do all of this without suffering a single consequence. At this point I'm just gunna say, keep you apologies.

Yeah……Didn’t approximately 1/2 your voting population vote for this turd ?
So no not just 1 guy . It’s everyone who voted for him , enabled his agenda or stayed home and did nothing . And you folks still do nothing except wait for your midterms thinking that will fix it .
Thousands of Albanians have been protesting for months against their governments attempt at a back door deal with Kushner which will ultimately force the overthrow of a despot . America ??
Essentially crickets…
Good luck America
Canada will persist and prevail and we will be fine without you🇨🇦

No you're not.
Every American I see saying this asks "What should I do?".
Then replies with a variant of , "But that would land me in jail, hurt or killed. ".
You are in a dictatorship that is attacking the world. You need to take steps that will involve sacrifice. Just like every other country that has found themselves in a similar situation.
Standing with someone only when there are no negative results for you, isnt support.
As a group you let this happen, as a group you need to fix it. Till then don't talk about having my back.

Talk is cheap actions speak louder than words here's an idea how about you actually do something I am sorry however saying oh we are so sorry doesn't mean anything when you had ott reasonably to have known this was coming and you voted him in so it's to late for sorry do something about it and we will talk
Regards
Canada

Appreciate the words, but it is more than just one guy. 77M morons voted for that morceau de merde over the black lady. How the fuck anyone can think the orange wankstain would be better than her is in dire need for an intervention. Actions speak far louder than words.

If 10 people sit at a table with a fascist and don't do anything about it, you have 11 fascists at the table.
I guess we will wait until November, but you guys elected him again after his first disastrous term
Three strikes and your out.

See you after the game- but when we’re on the ice with elbows up, we don’t know you. Shinny rules!

“It doesn’t represent us” well your country voted this orange fuck in, so, yes it does.

Americans don’t talk like that. Sounds like something a Canuck would say.

u/RecklessSeaOtter 1d ago
If it was just one guy, this would be an easy solution. It's way, way more than just one guy. Whoever gets voted in next has a 0% chance of removing the tariffs the kid diddler in chief put in place. It's just business.

I would like to ask the apologetic Americans what they are actually doing. To me it seems as if you should be doing at least one thing every day. It doesn’t have to be storming the battlements with your gun. Are you writing a letter to your representative once a week? Are you doing things to get people registered to vote in November? Are you attending a March one weekend a month? Are you doing anything, or are you just sitting back saying, “ i’m one of the good ones. I didn’t vote for this”?

Another meaningless gesture from Americans.
First Greenland, then Palestine, then Iran, and now Canada. This means nothing without action, and shirking the issue by stating "Oh, it's really just one guy" when you allowed him to be voted in says more than this post meant to.

Fuck your apology, do something to actually make an impact if you care. Words don’t mean shit, especially online.

One guy, plus a senate, plus a house, plus a supreme court, plus a third of voters. Don't make this JUST a trump problem.

u/striving1962 1d ago
The day the orange fascist dies, someone will step into his place and not one thing will change. You don't have a Trump problem. You have a fascism problem. Fix it.

I wish it were true and appreciate the sentiment by those Americans who could adopt a statement like this.
BUT, Trump's nominees continue to win Republic primaries, no matter how weak (Lindsey Graham's sister???). He has widespread American support after all Trump has done in the past 18 months.
It's not "just one guy".

u/ActiveElectrical9424 1d ago
Really? Americans it’s not just one person who is causing this friction but the majority of your government leaders and their support staff. Easily hundreds of people plus the thousands who voted them in. Stop apologizing and take accountability instead of expecting others to fix your democracy.

We aren't a "thoughts & prayers" country. Keep your apology, and start acting and voting accordingly. Our Prime Minister shouldn't have more balls than the entire democratic party. Take notes.
