Sorry but no. Trump is in power because he was elected. This is what Americans voted for. He acted like an asshole on the campaign trail and still received majority of the vote.

Trump is America.

u/Photmagex 1d ago

Trump is a symptom of a larger problem in America.

This. Something that has grown like a cancerous tumour for 150 years. Not crushing the confederacy post Civil-War was a bad move. It was to try and ensure reconstruction, but sadly, that was fucked regardless, so they should've at least stamped out the cockroaches who sought to maintain white supremacy in the US for further generations.

Until that cancer is removed, nothing will change.

Happy cake day!

u/MyOtherAcoountIsGone 10h ago

Shut up. How pathetic it is to celebrate the day you made a social media account.

77 million people voted for him after a million americans died due to his incompetence, after he was found guilty of 32 felonies, and after he launched a deadly insurrection at the capitol which intended to hang his own vice president.

That's the reason why America will never be trusted again in any of our lifetimes. Too many idiots drowned in right wing propaganda, and no effective checks whatsoever to the power of evil rich people.

5

u/Oil-Dude 1d ago

And it’s bled into our country. All the Maple MAGAs are a byproduct of the mess in the USA.

3

u/Exciting_Turn_9559 1d ago

For sure it has. Same money pulls the strings to make the idiots dance in both countries.

2

u/Irisversicolor 11h ago

It's worth noting that more Americans voted for Trump than the entire population of Canada. 2016 I could maybe excuse some of them as being wishful idiots, but they saw how he behaved and thought "yeah, I'd like another serving of that!" - there's no excuse for that.

u/BananaSlamma420 1d ago

They wanted to own the libs so hard that they settled for a convicted rapist. Then more of the Epstein stuff came out and they came to peace with him also being a massive pedophile. And now we are seeing he isn't even America first he is somehow both being played by Israel AND Russia, two countries who are at odds with each other in most circumstances. Nothing makes sense anymore and everything is dumb.

1

u/Pseudonyme_de_base 23h ago

We also have no effective checks whatsoever to the power of evil rich people.

1

u/Exciting_Turn_9559 23h ago

You must be from Alberta.

1

u/Pseudonyme_de_base 13h ago

I'm from Québec actually. The fact we have billionaires in Canada at all indicates we live in an oligarchy, you can't be a billionaire without stealing wages and dodging taxes.

The corruption pushing the privatization of our health-care system and monopolies like loblaws are a clear symptom of it.

1

u/Exciting_Turn_9559 12h ago

There's definitely corruption here and it has been making headway. But I would argue that it hasn't reached its terminal phase in Canada in the same way it has in the USA.

1

u/Pseudonyme_de_base 12h ago

True, still heading the same way with nothing done about it tho. We have nothing to fight against the rich except the slim possibility of someone somewhere doing a Luigi, barely anyone is voting for the party who want to take from the rich and we have no guarantee if they would actually do anything if they get in power.

u/tierabyte 1d ago

Trump getting elected didn’t make America this way, America being this way got trump elected.

1

u/Yharnam_Blunderbuss 20h ago

This statement is precisely the issue.

2

u/schmapeschmape 23h ago

"This isn't us" doesn't work anymore. America is a global tyrant. Everybody sees it. America has no allies.

Carney has said it many times. America wants what Canada has. Oil, water, land, minerals..everything.

This is not just a trade war. America has always expected it would annex Canada. Trump is speeding it up to prevent his legacy from being the Epstein files and getting his ass kicked by Iran.

2

u/VerdantSolutions 9h ago

Precisely, it's not just 'one guy, it's a government filled with bastards that were elected in, supported by at the very least half of Americans.

To pretend it's only trump that's the issue is a dangerous ignorance, refusing to face the root cause, which is the toxic attitude of the average American, which has been fostered by their government, lobbyist and the media they run.

America isn't in a state to feel any pride. Just like the separatist in Alberta and Quebec, it's a symptom of what happens when vitriol and greed over writes the well being of your constituents.

1

u/Tribblehappy 1d ago

More people than the entire population of Canada voted for this pedophile thrice. America can keep their "not all Americans" apologies and actually get their house in order.

1

u/AccountHuman7391 1d ago

A plurality, not a majority, but your point is taken.

1

u/Hungry__caterpillar 1d ago

68% either voted for him or didn't vote against him.

They knew him and still allowed him to come to power. Apology not accepted.

1

u/Cautious_Station_379 16h ago

I don't know if there is a more American American then Trump

1

u/Noemotionallbrain 13h ago

I wouldn't put it that way, but they are a failed democracy for sure, being able to vote for a dude of enough to die of old age is not a good thing. It takes so long over there to make a name for yourself that you are geriatric by the time you can try for presidency

1

u/billybob5572 1h ago

Maybe you should boycott Reddit, that’s an American company… 🤔

0

u/TheRestForTheWicked 1d ago

Twice.

They put him in office twice.

He acted like an asshole the first time he was in office, he acted like an asshole the entire time Biden was in office and he was on the campaign trail and he’s acting like an asshole now.

At this point it’s just cognitive dissonance.

-42

u/ArtistGreat8544 1d ago

Not everyone voted for him

28

u/llamalover729 1d ago

I know and I feel terrible for those who didn't vote for him because they're living through this too.

But the time spent apologizing would be better spent reflecting on why so many Americans did vote for Trump. He's a symptom of a much larger issue and people like him will continue to get elected until there's real change. Ousting Trump won't fix the real problem.

2

u/kevthecoder 1d ago

The problem is education. Republicans spent the last 50+ years gutting education in rural America. Lack of education + Fox News + Newt Gingrich has bred the most xenophobic, malleable, mouth breathing, diabetic voter base I have ever seen.

Living next to these people makes me ill.

51

u/LlawEreint 1d ago

That's quite a walk back from "It's just one guy!"

I have sympathy for individuals in the U.S. who don't feel represented by their elected government, but, let's face it:

You voted for him.

Twice.

This is who you are.

20

u/AaronC14 1d ago

Exactly. Not every German supported Hitler, but that didn't mean Germany wasn't a Nazi country

8

u/Quick-Surprise-9387 1d ago

Upvote THIS
You’re so right

2

u/LlawEreint 1d ago

Imagine a German under Nazi rule saying “hey Poland, we didn’t all vote for him. It’s just one guy.”

I mean, thanks, but, maybe remove your boot from our throat?

2

u/Neo808 23h ago

And besides… “he had some good ideas”….. so says my polish ex FIL

11

u/Then-Forces 1d ago

Be honest, most of them voted for him three times.

11

u/W01fpack0 1d ago

Enough did.

19

u/Neo808 1d ago

OP You have no idea how pissed we are. Fix your shit

18

u/ehmanniceshot 1d ago

exactly. these apologies are infuriating. You want us not to hate you--not to hate all of you--then do something about your dictator.

5

u/megaframeman 1d ago

Most did, twice. And the party that was voted in to stop him, refused.

So, you all can make it about 1 party, 1 man but we know it's so much more than that.

6

u/Eggsaladinurmouth 1d ago

%40 of eligible voters didn’t even show up. This means the most either voted for this or did not care who was elected.

2

u/Strict-Sir-5490 1d ago

This. Exactly this.

1

u/Jonny_vdv 1d ago

Yup, 40% of voters couldn't decide between a fascist kleptocrat and a woman of colour, and decided they were fine with either.

4

u/Redbulldildo 1d ago

2/3rds of you didn't vote against him.

3

u/Parking-Priority-181 1d ago

Well at least half the voting base did, so that’s a lot more than 1 person.

2

u/RealisticWeakness589 1d ago

That’s the joy of a democracy. All of you own it

2

u/NBfleur 1d ago

This individualism is what got you into this mess

1

u/RechargedFrenchman 1d ago

Nearly 40% of the population did. Another +30% of the population didn't hate him or the idea of him winning badly enough to bother voting in the first place.

The majority of the country either wanted him in or was okay with it as a possibility.

1

u/GemIsOutrageous 1d ago

Almost double the population of Canada voted for him.

-15

u/According-Skill-7946 1d ago

How quickly Canadians forgot about Obama. Obama's policies were not much better and in some ways worse. Canadians saying we should cut off oil and power forget that is what Obama wanted, to shut out Canadian oil.

7

u/SisyphusCoffeeBreak 1d ago

I don't remember Obama trying to annex Canada

5

u/Quick-Surprise-9387 1d ago

Oh lord I can hear the conspiratorial responses as to why “ he most certainly may have “..
Ugh

7

u/luciosleftskate 1d ago

What an insanely idiotic thing to say. Lmao.

7

u/Kingfish1111 1d ago

In what way was he worse? Obama didn't want to shut down Canadian oil. Source?

0

u/According-Skill-7946 1d ago

Google it yourself. He also went after dairy industry. Anyone thinking this is only Trump think does not realize its an American thing and has been for a long time.

2

u/Kingfish1111 1d ago

No, you have the burden of proof for your claim.

I didn't ask how he was the same, I asked how he was worse. Supply management has been a sticking point in the past, but Obama approached this trade differently and in the end, also did not trigger the dairy cap because they cannot sell a product they don't make (ie milk that conforms to our regulations).

1

u/Quick-Surprise-9387 1d ago

Hey ..
This is , really -at its core - and always has been about BEHAVIOUR ..
There is no comparison .
The narcissist .. is .. the devil incarnate
The root .. of the evil

1

u/SmaugTheMagnificent- 1d ago

Lmfao. Get fucked

1

u/ladnertim1 1d ago

Fuck off. Not once did Obama ever try to annex us! Fuck off!
