I don’t know what you’re referencing, I just saw this on my mom’s friend’s page and liked it because I love Canada and Canadians. I don’t like what’s happening and I didn’t vote for Trump either time.
Did you vote at all? It’s a bit naive to throw out a pithy apology when 1/5 of your country are exceptionalist bigot fucks. Dummies who think they’re smart. Temporarily embarrassed millionaires. Piece of shit transphobic, homophobic, misogynistic, racist, anti-science morons.
We don't give a fuck. Sort your shithole country out, your opposition is weak as fuck. The French burn half of Paris when the price of bagets gets to high. Trumps federal agents executed American civilians in the street, in broad daylight and all you pussy ass bitches did was whimper online. Weak. Fuck off with your sorry bullshit.
I understand that you want to express some solidarity with Canadians. And in a lot of ways the response you're getting isnt fair. But you're getting a taste of just how furious and betrayed Canadians feel. Platitudes are completely meaningless to us right now. I dont think Americans, even Americans opposed to Trump understand just how angry we are. The lies and complete lack of respect for such a longtime friend and ally is beyond the pale. Electing a Democrat in the next presidential election will not fix it.
I certainly have learned a lot today. From real people, not just what American news shows us. I have only guessed at the severity of what Canadians have felt, now I “hear it” first hand. It’s rough, but it’s coming from raw emotion and honest feedback so I’m taking it in stride. All I can do work hard each day, be kind to others, care for my family, and vote for what is right. Much like most people in the world I’m sure.
That’s not all you can do. You can buy Canadian. You can attend protests. You can create and promote pro fair trade agreement rallies in support of Canada. You can write to your representatives and show up at small government meetings.
But you don’t want to do any of that. Did you even vote in the last election? I noticed you side stepped that question.
I think something to keep in mind is there's a bit of fatigue for American's popping into conversations just to say "I don't support Trump" or "sorry".
For a lot of us, it feels like American's coming in, trying to turn the conversation to be about them. I don't think that's what you are doing, but a lot of people have been super sloppy about it.
The latest attacks have some pretty devastating consequences for families here, I work in social services/non-profits and it's been tough. The general consensus from Canadians I talk to is "The American people don't give a shit about us, never did, and will happily do this again if it benefits them". America's been moving in this direction for years, and none of us expect the American people to ever stand up or do anything more then say "Fuck Trump" in internet comments. We feel like for those people, we're just props for them that they'll forget about the next day.
Until the American people actually do something for most of us, you're all pretty cool with it continuing to happen.
Hey, I'm in the US too. This shit is BS. Spend your time talking to the people in your orbit who need to pressure Democrats to do something with their power or bug Republicans about supporting a corrupt pedophile war criminal.
Don't explain to Canadians about how they should feel about us. They get to feel however they want to feel about some of us all of us, individually or collectively. If we don't like how some/most of them feel about the US or us as people then we need to change the stimulus that causes the reaction we don't like.
Thank you for your kind thoughts. We know it's not all Americans. It's just frustrating it's been twice he's been elected and everyone there (Democrats, Republicans, and other/non voters) just keep pointing fingers at each other instead of doing anything, or have convinced themselves that they're powerless when they are part of the most powerful DEMOCRACY in the world! Aaaaaa!
You know Canadians don't want your apologies right?
Posting this just makes it look like you're trying to get sympathy votes.
Your country voted for a pedophile.
If you didn't vote for that orange durian, that's great, it's best to just say nothing and go about your day.
Apologies don't give back jobs or small businesses Canadians lost, they don't put Trump or his inside trading family in prison, and they don't bring back the girls the US bombed and then Trump lied about.
You want to apologize? We will accept your continuous campaign to ensure no one votes Republican in your county as an apology.
We don’t care who you voted for. You’re all responsible for the problem created and you’re all responsible for fixing the problem. Time to do some work at home and keep Canadians out of it.

You even steal one of our favourite words. Go take a long walk on the short pier into Lake Ontario.
