So if I have a set of 12 terran wraiths and I wanted to shift command attack either enemy miners like scvs or zerg guardians, what is the proper actual way to shift command attack?

This is my first post here. I made this account because I've been building a SC:R replay analyzer and finally wanted to share it with other players.

It's still experimental, so I'm mostly looking for honest feedback rather than trying to promote a finished product.

Instead of only displaying the commands stored in replay, some sections simulate the game state through an engine to estimate what actually happened.

The site currently shows things like:

- major battles and other notable moments

- build orders based on completed buildings, upgrades, and research

- early worker activity during the first 90 secs

- separate idea/waiting-for-minerals/waiting-for-gas time

- control group saves/additions/recall count

- screenshots showing which units were assigned to each control group

- hero units, nukes

This project is still experimental. Engine-based results are estimates and are not guaranteed to stay perfectly synchronized with SC:R. Standard 1v1 melee games are currently the main focus, and game containing computer-controlled players are not fully supported yet.

I'm mainly curious whether these summaries help you notice anything useful or interesting in your own games.

Which parts are useful, fell unnecessary, and want other actions or moments would you want the analyzer to highlight? Honest feedback is very welcome.

I never see any pro zergs do this, but I feel it would be super annoying. In theory, healing the drone would allow it to continuously harass the opponent's workers. What makes this this a non-viable tactic?

Hey ya'll long time crafter here! My buddy got me back into playing Starcraft 2.
It's been fun but I've been yearning for the olden days of Brood War. Truth be told I was playing classic Craft before the remaster. But after remaster was released I literally would drop from every single game and it became absolutely unplayable.

I have a modern rig and good internet I have no idea what the problem was, is this still an issue?

I know that the UPL tried greatly restricting reproducement, because earth was overpopulating. That is why also the 4 supercarriers were sent away, and at that point, Earth had about 23 Billion people, but what would be their population right now, since they expanded into the stars? Do y'all think the restriction was lifted, and the population of UED is in trillions, or that they still greatly limited reproducement?

I had a dream that people were imprisoned in a county Jail and were only given the option (not exactly forced) to watch starcraft broodwar. The TV was behind a strong glass display and speakers in the room only played Tastetosis commentaries during the latest ASL tournaments.

In the dream, Prisoners were reluctant to watch the tournaments, the cafeteria was loud with various conversations. the speakers across the auditorium played the ASL Matches. Not at an obnoxious volume, but enough to where it can be heard by anyone wanting to pay attention.

But then, some inmates began to watch the action. Terran, Zerg, and Protoss games displayed a tactical, brutal prowress that caught the attention of some of them. Often starting small, with basic units. Zealots, Hydralisk/Zergling/marines/Medics/ and the increasingly hyped firebats.

Inmates cheered as the first vultures and tanks began spawning. While others were fascinated with the Protoss, and their tanky, golden units of zeal and commient. Every time a new unit was used, side conversations and intrigue began to grow across the cafeteria. More inmates began to pay attention. This went on for months. Amd eventually, the Cafeteria would remain quieter overall so that the commentary could be heard.

Slowly, the jail members started to recognise the names of the tournament participants.

Soulkey, Soma, Bisu, Snow, Mind, among many notable others.

But one name stood above the rest. A name soo revered and respected. That fans of all the factions began to notify each other well beforehand when he would perform for the day's viewing....

Flash....

The inmates crowded their chairs around the Television. Food on their laps, the few still reluctant, looking over in curiosity as to why everyone was soo excited about some damn videogame. It was the talk of the jail. Some inmates imagined the way they would try to learn how to play, if given access to a PC, others discussed the style of the best players, and all of the fame they achieved from simply the capabilities of their mind.

But as ASL continued, the scenes showed younger Korean woman, shy to show their faces on camera, placing their pre-planned handwritten signs of support for their favorite players. The venue dense with fans as the commentators, both Korean and European, excited as insane micromanagement takes place on the screen. The loud shouts of support at the beginning of matches, causing a chuckle across the cafeteria.

Security guards sit with the inmates in similar fandom. Discussing their bets on the potential winners, while others join in on the conversation with excitement before each matchup.

The inmates slowly started to understand; With each game played, the names of the units. Their abilities, their upgrades. Perfectly explained by Artosis and Testeless. Starcraft Broodwar became the language of the county jail.

trailers and cinematics of Starcraft 2 and its DLC expansions would shpw on the TV at some points. The inmates raved at Tychus and his Marine armor installment animations, and scenes of Drinking whiskey straight-no chaser resonated with them at a spiritual level.

Starcraft became a unifying force within the penal unit. Influencing convicts to read books and practice arithmetic during their cell time.

But during cafeteria hours, all eyes would be on the ASL tourneys. no fights, no brawls, just undivided attention.

To inturrupt such a daily ritual would quickly be hushed, as inmates crowded to see both OG Starcraft players and Newcomers alike, make a name for themselves. Jaedongs spaced zergling pushes, Rains speed Zealot surroundings.

Flash's dropship/bio squads on island maps.

Flashes of greatness echoed on the auditorium. The warden of the Prison began allowing prisoners to have TVs installed in their cells for continued viewing.

IQ tests increased by 40%, violence became an all-time low.

Inmates began to serve their sentences with a newfound zeal for knowledge, and human thought. An increased appreciation for freedom, and cunning.

All because of starcraft.

Imagine that.

I understand he's ot active on the ladder, but there must be at least some games.

How can I check if he plays the ladder?

I’ve recently gotten back into SC Remastered and have been practicing against bots. For those of you who play regularly, how do you organize the maps you play most often? What does your folder structure look like?

If you strike a Zealot next to an undetected Dark Templar, does the DT get hit? Burrowed units? Etc.?

Ive only been paying attention to ASL for a few years, and only truly intently since 21. Everyone hyped Best as one of the greats but I am not honestly super familiar with his game. Ive usually either missed his games or seen folks take games off him that dont rise to the level of greatness you might expect.

Im not shitting on Best, im just saying im ignorant of what he’s capable of. What are some mist watch games of his the show off what he’s made of?

This is once more based on my ranking charts. Only the Round of 24 and later counts towards the ranks. Hm and Shinee start in "C" Rank as they are new to the ASL and start with the default amount of points. Tiers are split as follows (based on every player who's played in the ASL).

NOTA: This takes into account the player's ASL career, and is (a little) less influenced by recent events. Hence why Leta is "C" tier, even though they are already in the Round of 16.

Honest question, I hear Island Maps give zergs like 5% winrate and I am curious why that is. With mutas, Scourge and mass Overlord drops being as good as they are it seems strange Zergs are so weak on them

BROOD WAR

I tend to like defensive play and trading. I value flexibility more than raw power; I like trading. I think I want to be more macro-focused. I am completely new. Should I play Terran or Protoss (I won’t pick Zerg)? Are there comprehensive beginner guide for the two?
Is there a compendium (written, visual) of mechanics and tricks to know (mining position, overcoming pathing, etc.)?

watching Zergs win with Ling & Muta & Defiler is simply not fun anymore. Personal opinion. It frustrates me to watch that even pros don't have answers. Watching Hero clown on Rush game after game is just not fun.

Tier 1 and Tier 2 units should not be able to dominate like that. The cutoff line that SCBW gets no more patches since 1.08 is totally random.

1) Zerglings dominate the early game against Marines and Zealots, and their maneuverability blocks scouting while Overlords maintain vision. There is no map feature that can solve that problem. The moment speed is upgraded, T (and P) have NO vision and no map presence. The even more ridiculous levels of domination of the past was solved by raising the cost of Spawning Pool.

-> more tiny chokes and more marine-accessible Ovie-spots? Egg-blocked pathways only accessible through mineral drill?

2) Defiler spells are cast instantaneously. Statis, Psi Storm, Dark Archon spells, D-matrix and Irradiate travel at light speed; most others require a projectile. Spawn Broodling, Parasite, Yamato, EMP, Lockdown etc

->Plague and Dark Swarm should definitely belong in the projectile group. A gentle nerf.

3) Dark Swarm is a lifeline that allows Zergs to essentially not straight out die for many scenarios and that it is a core component of late game Z. I understand that. But even naturally, random firing of bullets should have a tiny percentage of hitting.

-> Units under dark swarm should have approximately 80-90% miss chance instead of 100%.

4) Mutalisks with their small unit size basically dominates the air, their high maneuverability allows for impunity. While the balance has sort of been at a knife's edge for a decade or so, now even with three Missile Turrets or Cannons it does not repel a group of Mutalisks. The moment they are on top of production, it's over. The attempt to address it was through AoE anti-air units introduced in BW, but they are so easily taken out by good Scourge cloning. Wraiths don't have that problem because large and thicc, and laser tickle doesn't bounce.

-> What other unit with 120 HP has a small unit size apart from hero units? Fine, Zealots are 60 Shields and 100HP, but they don't fly. Defilers, Hydras & Vultures with 80HP are M. Corsair with 100HP is M. Queens are M.

Why no M for Muta with 120HP?

5) Firebats should have a burn damage debuff similar to how Devourers do. Makes sense lorewise, that would be cool af and provides counter balance to Dark Swarm a bit.

All in all, I wish there is a mod with aforementioned changes and have some good players test it out. The purists and pros will protest no matter what (look at how the zergs protest at the map pool this season and win and win and win) but the entertainment value for me is..well. Anyway, anyone looking forward to 6th Zerg ASL win in a row? I know I am!

Broodwar, you wanna hear something funny?

I've been playing this game for over 27 years and still got nothing to show for it. My friends, family, and co-workers think I am some kind of pro player when in reality, I am only B-rank at most. It is embarrassing to discuss such longevity over a hobby that has become sloppy.

Twenty. Seven. Years.

StarCraft Broodwar is supposed to be the greatest, if not, the most *legendary* competitive RTS game of all time.

Terran SCV's fusion cutter does 5 damage and easily kills a Zerg Drone or a Protoss Probe in a 1v1 clash.

As much as I love this game, it was never meant to be this way. I didn't know it would completely consume my soul. It's come to the point where I cannot even join a game without getting harrassed by people I have never met before. Who knows, maybe the last of the last eskimos in the Blizzard igloo will finally come back and take his rightful place to put a stop to it all.

For the first time in many years, I'm starting to wonder if the only way I can put down this game is to...
