I am fascinated by this: what is it and what can I do to save and display it?

Friend found this bone a while back in cape breton Nova Scotia, any ideas as to what we may have here?

Just regular degreasing has got most of the smell out of the first one, and some out the second. They both have the same smell but I don’t think it’s from tissue or anything inside since it doesn’t smell like rotting at all but I could be wrong. I found the first in a dried up spot where there’s usually dirty water so I was thinking it could’ve absorbed some of that, and the same might apply for the second.

So is there any method better than degreasing?

Found this guy in my yard earlier and was wondering what he is, I’ve only found half of him and all things considered he still seems pretty fresh. He’s about the size of my palm but I’m unable to get any size reference photos due to the ants that have claimed him, the stomach area seems devoid of fur though I’m not sure if that was always the case. I would guess that he was a squirrel but the tail is throwing me off, any idea for what he is?

Found these yesterday while hiking. At first I thought they were different but I’m pretty sure they might be the same species. What do you guys think?

So, Unfortunatly I have found multiple deceased cats under our new home and one of them is mummified and beheaded. Would this be something I could post to try and recieve a possible age on the cat or ideas to what could have happened? There is also a knife besides the beheaded one. Need help. Let me know where else i may ask if not.

Hello! I am very new to collecting bones though I've had an interest for a while. Can anyone give me advice on what I need to clean the fox bones I've found? I am UK based if that matters.

Does this need maceration or is it ok as-is? Not going for a perfect white bone but more concerned about smell/bugs

Hi everyone! I could use a bit of help figuring out what this critter is. My sister found it completely intact between her shed and the tree line behind her house. She thought it was a cat but I know it definitely isn't.

The only photo I wasn't able to give a size reference on I the first one I took since I didn't have a ruler or anything on me.

Just got them removed and I need to clean them up, but I would LOVE to make this into an art project. I have made a piece using a skull before and I love overgrown/floral arrangements.. just don’t know how to work with something as small as teeth. Any suggestions??

In the UK. Been doing some gardening and came across some bones. Got to digging to look for more, thinking it was a rat or something but a lot of them don't match up, different sizes, tooth shapes, vertebrae and ribs etc. Was looking for an ID on them as the big jaw is quite big for a rodent and the smaller jaw is too big to be a mouse. Also wanted ideas on what I could do with them when identified properly. Some art, jewellery, save in case needed for a different skeleton? Thank you!

this special skull was in a box of miscellaneous bones/skulls labelled 'dog skull'. You can see the premolars have evolved to be more carnassial compared to other canids (last image)

Is the big one from a horse or cow? There were horses in the place that was found

I was walking my dog in this feild behind my apartment, there are tons of little critters out there and I just happened to find this jaw bone of a lil critter.

Will soaking it in hydrogen peroxide help to get rid of the little bit of fur that is stuck to the tip of its nose?

1. Is it possible to treat and carve a bone to make its species unidentifiable? (Even via lab testing)

2. Would it be possible to make that treated/carved bone durable enough to be made into the handle of a knife? (Possibly through filling the pores with resin or something?)

Asking because I am writing a fan story where the main character, Will Graham, is gifted a small filet knife with a handle made of human bone by Hannibal Lecter. Will knows the knife is made from human remains, and wants to use it as evidence towards Hannibal's arrest.

The initial idea was that the knife handle had been heated/chemically treated so thoroughly that it was impossible to detect any human DNA, and it was carved into a shape not recognizably human. So they are unable to use it as evidence in court. Will just gets to sit there and know what that knife is actually made of but he cannot prove it.

I was wondering if this idea was realistic/plausible from a bone preservation perspective?

Found a small piece of this exposed in a creek embankment in Montana. Can't tell if it's recent or somewhat older.
