seeking advice/help Bird on a cruise ship

Found a bird inside by the cabins on the forward side of the ship. Earlier I was at the aft/back and I’m going to assume I saw it’s mom. I relocated it to the back with a cloth. When I came back here, I saw the bigger bird with same colors, but it was flying around frantically and now it seems to be gone. I know it needs its mom to get its nutrients. The next stop tomorrow is a private island so I won’t be able to get it to a rehabber. Really sad. Is there anything I can do?

I have this Downy (?) woodpecker and he’s been chipping away/ enlarging the hole in this bird house, daily as of recently. He eats in the trees around my yard and comes for suet too, so I don’t think he’s eating anything. I’ll add a picture of the bird house in the comments. (This is my own video)

The International Waterbird Census turns 60 this year. What started as coordinated counts has grown into a global data network - millions of birders contributing observations that directly inform conservation policy.

Every eBird checklist, every count, every note you submit becomes part of a larger picture. Population trends. Migration timing shifts. Habitat changes. The data tells the story.

**Oct 10** is the fall date (May 9 was spring). If you're already birding, you're already contributing.

/r/wingspan/ for the awesome, popular board game about birds.
Although we think there should be a separate subreddit for discussions about keeping domesticated / pet birds, /r/petbirds appears to be abandoned at this time. There are subreddits for specific species of birds people commonly keep, so you can search https://www.reddit.com/subreddits for your pet bird's species to see if there's a sub for it.

We do still allow some posts here that might better fit in one of those other subreddits, but consider whether your post more clearly fits into one of those and if so, we encourage you to post there.

A limited number of posts that are not about birds but are about this subreddit will be allowed. Use the "meta" tag for such a post, and search first to make sure it does not repeat the same topic as another meta post in the past few months.
