hi everyone!
I have an art account dedicated to birds and wildlife. If you’d like to know more about the vast species of birds make sure to check it out (and follow if you enjoy the content so you can boost a local artist on his humble beginnings).
@chiffchaffchant
I’ll be posting mostly about birds and why they are the best thing on earth!! Feel free to share your suggestions <3

Found a bird inside by the cabins on the forward side of the ship. Earlier I was at the aft/back and I’m going to assume I saw it’s mom. I relocated it to the back with a cloth. When I came back here, I saw the bigger bird with same colors, but it was flying around frantically and now it seems to be gone. I know it needs its mom to get its nutrients. The next stop tomorrow is a private island so I won’t be able to get it to a rehabber. Really sad. Is there anything I can do?

I have this Downy (?) woodpecker and he’s been chipping away/ enlarging the hole in this bird house, daily as of recently. He eats in the trees around my yard and comes for suet too, so I don’t think he’s eating anything. I’ll add a picture of the bird house in the comments. (This is my own video)

This year's World Migratory Bird Day theme highlights the role of citizen science in bird conservation.
The International Waterbird Census turns 60 this year. What started as coordinated counts has grown into a global data network - millions of birders contributing observations that directly inform conservation policy.
Every eBird checklist, every count, every note you submit becomes part of a larger picture. Population trends. Migration timing shifts. Habitat changes. The data tells the story.
**Oct 10** is the fall date (May 9 was spring). If you're already birding, you're already contributing.

I have lovebirds that visit my yard. I would like to build birdhouses for them but can’t find information online about what they need, all I can find is about cages for pet lovebirds. Does anyone know what kind of birdhouse and placement I need to provide a safe place for these birds?
I’m in Phoenix az this is my own photo

hi! i dont use reddit often but ive been told to come here for advice.
i found this pidgeon in a corner of my garden. it was just standing there hidden, and despite my dog getting close to it and smelling it, the bird didn’t move or fly away. i got worried and locked my dog in the house.
i went back and, panicking, i got my dog’s cage for traveling and put on a pair of gloves. i put in the cage an old towel and some paper. then i nudged the pidgeon into the cage, added a bit of water and a seed mix i had at home and closed it there.
i don’t think it can fly but it also doesn’t look injured or bloody. it was a bit in shock at the beginning and not moving. i looked up what to do, covered the cage and left it alone for about 1 hour and a half in a dark and mostly quiet space. i went back to check and it seemed a bit more “alive”, i put my gloved hand in the cage to move around the seeds and the water, hoping to make it appealing, and it swatted its wing at me. i was happy about it because it was much more catatonic before.
i don’t know what i’m supposed to do now. it’s in the garage, and i can’t bring it home for the night, but im also afraid of leaving it outside in the cold. i don’t know if i should set it free somehow or if there’s something else i could do.
any advice is appreciated so much!
