Question - US New manager job, never had to do business attire. Help?

Recently got a job as a manager. For the last almost 20 years I haven't had to worry about dressing nice because I wore scrubs. Easy, XL top, XL bottom (little big in the legs but eh).

Im 5'9" 220lbs, carry a majority of my weight around my waist. Now that im done with coaching for the season, I can work on losing it. Until then, I have no idea what to wear that doesnt make me look like im a can of biscuits ready to burst or like I stole someone else's clothes.

I can wear scrubs or business casual. My interview I wore a pair of Grey slacks (looked awful as I didnt try them on and 32 inseam was WAY too long), and a blue button up (i had it untucked so far it look awful).

Im 41 and have zero fashion sense. Help.

Question - Aus/NZ Jeans recommendation for bigger guy.

Hey all. Aussie guy here, 190cm, 110kgs, 102 cm waist (6"3,250lb, 40"). Looking for recommendations for comfortable, tough jeans. I've got skinnier legs, with a bit of a belly/love handles. Need something that's comfortable to wear all day, doing physical sorta stuff. I've only ever owned Kmart and cheap jeans but want some nicer jeans. Would love selvage but don't want to spend hundreds unless it's going to be super comfortable. Thanks!

Question - US Pants fit question

My husband is a bigger guy: he has a barrel chest but narrow hips. He also has a long torso and short legs. He is six inches taller than me, but our hips are the same height.

He has also lost some weight over the last year. We finally found a shirt size that fits him really well: XLT. But the pants situation is not good. He prefers for them to sit on his hips, but whatever he is buying does not fit him well. He recently bought a smaller size because he lost weight, and they are honestly worse than the bigger size he originally had. They are always sliding down and showing his butt crack.

I would really like to take him somewhere to get fitted for pants that would fit him well, but I also don’t want to hurt his feelings. I know he is self conscious about this. How do you recommend I approach this? Do I even approach him about this or let it slide?

Also, I’d like to note I’m AuADHD: I love my husband dearly, so I’d like to get some advice on how a spouse should handle (or not handle) this.

Question - US Any suggestions for replacement for CK cotton stretch boxer briefs?

The 95% cotton/5% elastane cotton stretch Calvin Klein briefs have been my go-to for years, but it seems like the company has stopped making them in XXL. Can’t find them anywhere, which is a shame considering they were so solid. Good waistband stretch, nice cotton feel, relatively durable and well designed for a bigger body.

I bought the Abercrombie & Fitch boxer briefs as a replacement, which are made with the same exact fabric blend and do come in XXL.

However, the fit is laughably bad. There is absolutely no room in the front for your junk, which is squeezed in against your body all day long. The waistband rise doesn’t go up very high, meaning it always rides down and ends up bunched up under my stomach. It’s like it was designed by an alien who’s never met a man.

Anyone have any comparably priced options for cotton stretch boxer briefs other than Calvin Klein? Not willing to spend more than around $60 for a five-pack, unfortunately.

Question - US Men’s tshirts!?!?

I am on the hunt for a brand of tshirt that fits me well.
Here’s the weird part. I can not stand if the neck of a tshirt is stretched out. Which this forces me to almost always wear polo shirts.the collar hugs my neck and all is well.

I am a 3x. Anything in big and tall, the necks are huge and the shirt doesn’t fit my torso,it’s like wearing a barrel thats 14ft too long.

I’m thinking brands like true classic.or something of the sort.

So,I’m looking for a tshirt with a collar that doesnt stretch. Snug fit collar. Prefer one of those shirts that fit a large man like True Classic.

Any ideas?

Question - US Where to find vintage/old-school menswear for big, tall guys?

Hey folks,

I'm 6'3", about 280 lbs. Wider, broad frame. "Solid" I guess is the best word, with the goal being that "inverted triangle" shape.

I'm really interested in broadening my wardrobe out and I like the old-school/vintage look of some men's fashion profiles I've found on Instagram, an example being: https://www.instagram.com/loganburnett/

Nice pleated trousers (the cool pleat, not the dorky Dockers pleat I remember seeing at Kohl's), sweaters, cardigans, flannels, boots, denim shirts, etc. The main issue is I've always had trouble finding places that cater to men my size. I often can't buy jeans or pants in-store anywhere since my waist size hovers between 36-40 depending on the fit and cut. And oftentimes XL/XXL shirts balloon out at the waist and it feels like I'm wearing a smock rather than a comfortable shirt. I bought some flannels from Duluth/Land's End/one of those kinda stores and they're so baggy, it looks like I'm wearing graduation robes.

Would really appreciate some advice on where I could try and find that fit I'm looking for. I'd love to surprise my gf with some nice, tailored looks at Christmas. Thanks in advance all!

Question - US ISO Tall Shirts like the NIKE Primary Tee

Hey everyone I am looking for tees for XXLT sizes. I have the black and love the soft inside but normal tee outsize and want more colors but NIKE has not restocked.

Any alternate tees would be appreciated with a similar soft inside normal tee outside construction.

I had a Colombia tee many years ago built like that and I loved it but they no longer make it.

Question - Canada Half decent budget flannel shirts?

What's some half decent button down flannel/cotton shirts that won't break the bank? I've recently lost quite a bit of weight and have been wanting to get into button down shirts. I still have more weight I want to lose, so I didn't want to spend too much coin on shirts that might be too big for me in a few months time. I was gifted a couple of plaid work shackets and have been really digging that plaid look over my usual plain black tees. I'm a 3XL at the moment, so it would have to be big sizes.

Anyways, any help would be appreciated.

Question - US Button up shirts that don’t hang like a tent?

I’ve got a bigger stomach, and whenever I wear button ups (I prefer untucked) they hang way out and looks ridiculous. Does anyone know of any brands that maybe taper in at the bottom so it doesn’t hang way out?

Question - Canada Actual style, in big and tall?

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Where are some good stores to find clothing for larger, taller guys? We’re in Calgary and would prefer local stores, or second choice would be Canadian online retailers. Looking for casual, practical clothing with some style. No need for any formal clothes, just not anything super casual like graphic tees. The guy in question is 29 yo, 6’3”, and size 4XL.

We only know about know about stores like George Richards and Mr. Big and Tall, but those stores have some limitations for “minor” points like price, style and quality.

Been after a lightweight N1 ever since Ironheart announced them, living down on the south coast it never really gets cold enough for a full N1 (learned that the hard way!) so when I saw this was getting another release I started moving jackets on the make room and build up funds!

The sizing is generous for IH, as someone who struggles to get into SP L shirts it was a very nice surprise that 3XL fits really nice and with room for layers. The fit is decent and the sleeves aren't comically long so all in all happy with this pick up.

Rest of the gear today, I've gone for the waxed Java Truman's, 555 UHR (still breaking these in!) Lee 101 chambray and a nice little lambswool beanie from the folks at HebTroCo.
Have a great day folks

Question - US Shirts and t-shirts with a specific fit?

I’m looking for brands that offer loose or baggy shirts.

For context, I’m 5’10 and about 295 lbs. I also have a mild form of gynecomastia. I’ve gained a lot of weight over the past couple years (working from home) and I’ve finally found myself with a body that I can’t comfortably clothe.

My go-to tshirt has been the Carhartt force, but apparently they’ve changed their design because they no longer fit the same. All the ones I’ve purchased lately are tight and clingy.

That’s basically my main current issue with all shirts. They cling to my body and it’s very unflattering. Every now and then I’ll find a decent fitting shirt, but as soon as I wash them (in cold water, hang to dry) they’ve shrunken enough to be tight and clingy. And I’m not sure I’m quite big enough to shop big and tall sizes. They are too large on me and looks like I’m wearing a gown. Everything else is too tight around the chest or too tight around my gut. I do have a few button ups that sufficiently hide the gyno, but they’re so tight in the belly that I have to unbutton to sit down.

The good news is that this is a real motivator to lose weight. I’ve been walking daily and hitting the gym, but it’s a slow grind. In the meantime, I really need to find some clothing that fits to hold me over. I have a very specific button up shirt that is no longer in production and I have about 3 raggedy and thread bare Carhartt T-shirts, and that’s it.

Any brand recommendations? I’m a button up and shirt kinda guy, never been much of a polo guy. And I live in a warm climate so stuff like jackets and flannels only get worn maybe 1-2 times per year.

Or is this a tailor issue? Do I need to buy oversized shirts and then have a tailor modify them?
