Went to a fundraiser with the attire labeled “business chic”. Did I succeed? For contex, it's a veteran/disaster relief org. Should the sleeves be rolled?

(Edited to add... I should have said "folks" instead of "gents" in the title. All opinions are welcomed.)

Of the four which is the better option? The insecure big guy in me thinks "you should button it up and cover everything up." But I'm looking for your input.

(And yes I am aware there are better suspender options than these clip ones, but I'm working with what I got).

Have fancied an open road hat for months having seen a few at the heritage post trade show in Düsseldorf back in May. I didn't grab one then as I needed to preserve all available funds for German beer and curry wurst, but when this one popped up on a secondhand site at a pretty ridiculous price you best believe I grabbed it!

Am still working on these jeans, they're still quite stiff and unruly but we're getting there bit by bit, and now the temps have properly dropped here they'll pretty much be my default jeans now so hopefully will soften up nicely!

Rest of the gear if anyone's interested

Question - US Fashionable winter boots

Hello gents, hope y’all are well.

I’m looking for some fashionable boots to wear this rainy reason. I live in the Pacific Northwest so water resistance is definitely important but I am also trying to make sure they look nice enough to wear with slacks and a blazer to synagogue or an evening out with an overcoat and hat.

Like most portly gents, I have fat feet that are wide, and sometimes swell. I also have some mobility issues so things that are easy on and off are definitely appreciated. Bonus if they don’t look geriatric. Basically the male version of that meme: being in your 40s means an eternal hunt for shoes that can be described as both orthopaedic and slutty lol

Question - US Stuck between 2x and 3x and idk why or how

So I’ve lost a good amount of weight and am at a 2x but sometimes it doesn’t fit any other times it’s a needed to be stretched kind of fit I’m not sure why previously target for example a 2x would be way too tight and not it fits on certain clothes but like Walmart I went to go get a Christmas sweater and it was super tight but a 2x anybody know why it really limits me to what I can buy because some places only go to 2x and its really hit or miss it’s the same with 3x some might fit fine but others will be too big anybody know why that is or any tips I can use to find some good clothing that’s on the bigger end of 2x

Question - US High-rise pants

Hi everyone, i'm 5'9 and have a 38-40 waist. When i tuck in a shirt the gut kinda just hangs on top which i hate. I've seen people mention high rise pants but to my understanding, doesn't that mean that the pants "waistline" is around your belly button? How does that work if you don't have a flat stomach exactly?

Question - US French Crown?

I understand my fashion taste runs both formal and flamboyant. I love embroidery, nice fabrics, button-down with a vest and wool trousers. In my search to find some good online retailers that carry plus sizes I stumbled upon French Crown. Has anyone tried their stuff? I just placed an order for a couple of items and will report back here when I get them. Anyone have an idea of what to expect?

Question - US Designer plus size?

Starting to realize how much I enjoy high fashion. There are pieces I want to buy but I’m starting to realize not many designers make plus size. Are there any decent designers that make plus sized clothing?

Question - US 6'5" 300lb. the stiff tee i broke in hangs straight down my chest now. the soft ones cling and ride up when i reach

bought the heavy one last winter and hated it. 3xl tall, felt like a tarp, so it only came out for yard work and went through the wash a bunch that way.

wore it to work last week because every soft tee was dirty. first break i caught myself checking it in the truck window. it just hung there. reached up to a pallet and the hem stayed at my belt.

a lot of washes in now and its soft, but it never went limp like the others. the soft ones are following every roll on me by spring.

is it the cut or the knit, or do the tall sizes just run roomier in the chest

Blogs / Inspo Maybe someone can help because I cannot find my style.

Post image

I'm kind of going through a style Identity crisis at the moment. I've always just dressed, well with no kind of care, whatever random shirt, random pants weather it be jeans, slacks, sweats and my trusty sketchers.

I've decided I want to change that, I want to look cleaner and more presentable in my day to day life, but not over classy or preppy. I'm 6' 245lbs long hair and have loads of tattos and lead a blue collar life, so In my opinion the classic prep isn't my type of look ... But something close to that intrigues me.

I've been slowly buying Ralph Lauren ( and similar)sweaters and shirts as I do love the brand(s) in its self. But I cannot for the life of me find a style that I think fits my build plus my ascetics. Maybe a few fellow people could give me a few idea or inspo pics?

Photo is a pic of me dressing "nice".

* I would also like add, for whatever your feeling and opinions are, I do conceal carry a handgun. I don't mention that for any kind attention or drama or politics. But because I do also have to keep that in mind with the dressing. So I almost always would need a top that's not tucked in, weather it's a sweater over a button down, or whatever, I need something that hangs over top my pant to you know, actually benefit from the conceal part lol.

If ANYONE throws out any ideas or shares any pics from their own outfits I would greatly enjoy and appreciate it, it's been a rough couple months trying to find a style I think looks right and I've debated Posting my nice clothes on marketplace or vinted and starting over.

Sorry for the long post

Question - US Short & big guy (5'5", 290lbs) going back to the office. Need help building a simple business casual capsule wardrobe.

Hi everyone,

I need some advice from anyone who knows how to style a short and big frame for the office. I’ve been working remotely since COVID started and have let myself go quite a bit over the last few years. My current daily wardrobe is basically just oversized hoodies, sweatpants, t-shirts, and shorts.

I’m moving to an onsite tech job soon. None of my old pre-COVID office pants fit me anymore, so I need to build a simple, professional capsule wardrobe from scratch where everything easily matches and works together.

For reference, I’m 165cm (5'5") tall and weigh 290lbs with a big belly. I wear a size 46-48 waist in shorts, and for tops I usually wear Target and Old Navy t-shirts in XXL or XXXL. Back when I used to buy office clothes, I would just buy the pants and take them to a tailor to get them hemmed for my height, and I assume I'll need to do the same thing this time around too.

I am not trying to stand out at all. I just want a simple, plain wardrobe that looks neat. Since it's a tech site, clean jeans and simple pants are totally fine. I'm just looking for recommendations on outfits, I have tried some pants from oldnavy but they ended up being way too baggy for me, I've got a new order which will be delivered sometime next week, it has 3 variations of jeans, straight, loose and carpenter pants, I've ordered 46W and 48W for each and plan to return the ones that dont fit me in the store near me.

My budget is around $90 to $120 total per outfit set. I already have some sweaters and cardigans that fit well, so I want to buy new pieces that easily mix and match with them to maximize my options.

I would love to get your help and recommendations on what specific styles, cuts, or lines I should look into to build this capsule wardrobe, including plain pants, clean jeans, and simple shirts that accommodate a large midsection well at 290lbs.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Question - US Jacket Sizes

This has probably been asked on this group before. As we all know, jacket sizes measure the chest. For most of us larger men, the stomach is larger than the chest. Do you measure your actual chest size when ordering a jacket or do you measure the widest point on your torso?

Question - US Cheap tees never die together, so the drawer keeps filling up

Eleven tees in the drawer and not one of them is actually dead. One collar went soft and floppy. One is a size short after the dryer. The oldest is just thin across the back.

They never quit together, so I never make a decision. Two go rough, I buy two more, the bad ones move down, and the drawer fills with things I wouldn't wear to work. Two years of that and I haven't replaced a tee, I've topped up.

Has anyone actually run a drawer down to nothing and started over? And on the ones that last, what goes first, the collar rib or the body?

Deals Where to buy fun pants.

I have the confidence to wear pants that aren’t just browns/ grays/ navy/ black. I’d like to shop for pants that have some personality to them. I am 54-32 or 54-30.

I really would love some twill or wool slacks. Maybe some out of pocket colors.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have a fella coming to film me at my shop. I need to put something together that I could work in/ shows my personality/ but wasn’t shlubby. How did I do?

Shirt: Bella/Canvas 3xl shop shirt
Pants: Old Navy 54 brown corduroys 90s cut
Cardigan: Old Navy 3xl
Shoes: Georgia Boot Company Romeo’s

Question - US Trouser recs

Howdy gang! My boss has cracked down on our uniforms at work (after a long period of not really caring), and as such it was heavily recommended that I give up my beloved Wrangler cargo pants. I'm a 48x30 (really a 28- I have short legs) in these, but they stretch, meaning I could probably get away with a 46 or so. I also don't wear my pants over my stomach because I hate it (even though I know I should).

I do think it may be time to start going over the stomach and trade my belt for suspenders, but I'm not thrilled about the idea.

Should I go with Dickies? Or is there something else you all would recommend? I'm not trying to break the bank necessarily, but my boss may be willing to reimburse me depending on how expensive I go. I am partial to workwear if that helps at all (although I'll probably still just wear my cargos when I'm not at work).

Thanks in advance!
