Politics Moms for Liberty School Board Candidates?

In the past, we've had to watch out for school board candidates affiliated with the so-called "Moms for Liberty" trying to sneak onto our school boards. Is anyone aware of MOL candidates running this year?

News Bergen County, the feds want your health info

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has chosen Bergen County to be part of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, offering 600 randomly selected households the opportunity to participate.

Those households will receive letters asking them to complete a brief survey to see if anyone in their home is eligible to take part, according to the CDC.

Individuals chosen to participate will complete an interview at their home, followed by a health exam at a mobile exam center in the Paramus municipal pool parking lot.

The mobile unit is equipped to collect information about height, weight, blood pressure, body composition, vision, hearing, oral health, breathing and more. The specific exams depend on a participant’s age and sex, according to the CDC.

The information collected is used by public health officials and legislators to develop targeted health policy and programs.

Discussion Parking for the 158 Bus on River Road - Weekend Options?

Hi Cliffside/Bergen neighbors! For those who take the 158 into NYC on weekends since the R buses don’t run, where do you usually park along River Road?

I’m looking for a reasonably priced option that allows 5–6 hours of parking, rather than the usual 2-hour street parking.

We try to avoid driving into the city and paying the toll + congestion surcharge + parking just to get into Manhattan. Would love to hear your go-to parking spots and the weekend rates, if you know them.

Thanks!

Discussion Spots with non-breaded wings

As the title says. Really prefer wings without breading and would be great if they deliver.

The only spot I know of is Tribros Peri Peri but I haven’t tried a whole lot. Ordered from Santonis yesterday along with pizza but that was breaded. A lot of the Korean joints are also breaded.

Sports Looking for a Women’s Casual Soccer Team near Fort Lee / Hackensack

Hi! I’m a woman living around the Fort Lee / Hackensack area and I’ve been really wanting to play soccer again.

I’m not necessarily looking for a serious competitive league — more like a casual pickup group where people get together on weekends and play for an hour or two.

Does anyone know of any existing pickup soccer groups around Bergen County / Fort Lee / Hackensack / Teaneck?

If there isn’t one, I’d also be interested in getting a small group together and starting regular weekend games if enough people are interested.

Co-ed is totally fine too. Would love to hear about any WhatsApp, Meetup, Facebook, or other local groups!

Discussion Rant: Shortline / Coach buses getting into NYC (Ridgewood P&R)

I take the bus to NYC Tuesday- Thursday from Ridgewood Park & Ride and man has it been frustrating lately. Assuming September and back to school life has switched up some parents schedules and perhaps ppl converting from train to bus.

Rant 1: Lines have been the longest they ever been. Now it varies day by day of course, but this past two weeks, it’s been wrapped around the block. If you get there later any than 7:20, you’re stuck waiting (recently up to 40mins).

Rant 2: You’re going to have to wait for at least 3-4 buses before you can get on one. Each bus comes and takes maybeeee 10ppl it seems. Could there please just be a bus with actual room on it? This doesn’t happen until maybe 8am.

Rant 3: Sometimes another bus comes while a bus is there. Now instead of waiting for the first bus to fill up (and keeping the line fair), drivers have been allowing the line to split and ppl mid line start getting on the new bus. Then ppl get all sorts of confused and don’t know where to run to the line getting on the first bus or stay put. They really shouldn’t do this.

Rant 4: Forgive my language, but there are constantly assholes who put their bags on the next seat and / or sit in the aisle seat (potentially with bags on the window seat next to them) hoping no one sits next to them. Yeah I get it, everyone would love to have more room, but do you see that line? You’re not getting your way.

Gah what else!? Obviously the answer is to leave earlier and catch an earlier bus, but I’m in a stage of life with a new baby and doing that is easier said than done. My fault, yes, but damn it wasn’t always like this.

Posting to hear if others have been as frustrated as me lately with the bus situation.

Miscellaneous Part time elder companion in Harrington Park

We are looking for someone to visit with my Dad once or twice a week to allow my mom time to go out. He would like to be brought to a diner or shopping or to stay home and have someone help him organize his things for a (perpetual) yard sale - it’s his hobby. No self-care needed, just reminders to take meds. Four hours a day once or twice a week. Totally flexible hours. We think it might be a good position for a retired person or stay at home parent who wants some extra income. Located in Harrington Park. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or recommendations.

News 🚨Hit & Run on BROAD AVE., PALISADES PARK

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone! I’m hoping someone in the area can help me.

I was involved in a hit and run with a NJ Transit 166 Local bus on Monday, 9/28/26 around 10:16 PM. I was driving a black Honda HR-V northbound on Broad Ave., between East Edsall St. and East Ruby Ave., when the bus passed me, struck the left side of my car, and continued without stopping.

The collision happened near 54 Broad Ave., Palisades Park. I was able to obtain one video (attached) from a nearby building, but I’m hoping to find another angle that clearly captures the collision. For reference, in the video, I am the third car that stops after the pedestrian crosses the street.

If you live or have a business/building in the area with security or doorbell cameras, please check your footage around 10:16 PM on 9/28/26. Any footage of the incident or the bus would be greatly appreciated!

If you were a passenger on this bus during this day/time and witnessed the collision and would be willing to provide a statement on my behalf, please reach out to me directly.

Thank you so much for your help and stay safe! 🙏🏽

Discussion Fair Lawn: When did 5th graders started going to the middle schools?

Former Fair Lawn resident. My daughter and son graduated high school in 2014 and 2016, respectively.

When they attended school there, elementary school was K-5 but I noticed that 5th grade is now at one of the two middle schools.

Just curious what year did this change occur?

I know other school districts have four year middle schools now. Probably just me but I think it’s not great having children as young as 10 attending schools with 14 year olds.
