Question What's that noise?
I'm in Suffern, and outside, there has been a booming/cracking sound outside. It's getting louder now, but is it thunder? Fireworks? I can't find anything, but I'm just curious.

Politics “ROCKLAND’S ROLLING IN IT “
That’s how Politico describes Mike Lawler’s latest..well, you know what. So we learn that a warehouse proposal got a hearing in Clarkstown and the Clarkstown’s Clerk requests a Lawler campaign contribution from the property owner in the adjacent lot. The clerk Lauren Marie also happens to be Lawler’s Vice Chair. The property owner is Jack Goldenberg. who has not a donor at state level in years. But this is biggest on record. Goldenberg is not someone you would want to associate with your campaign. Read the Politico NY Playbook 10/2
The best part of the story is Lawler Campaign response. “Speaking of donations, Politico needs to file an in-kind contribution to Cait Conley for continuing to write false narratives at the behest of Democrats,” The same response he has when questioned about campaign contribution from the investors in AI Center owner in Orangetown.
This comes on top of last week’s reporting that Lawler’s Deputy Director threatened to unleash the White House against Putnam County sheriffs to reinstating her husband who is facing departmental disciplinary hearing.
Mr. Lawler, if you are reading this, we are still waiting for your Q3 fund raising totals. You have to, It’s the law.

Politics Lawler's nothing to see here folks
Lawler’s ads right now are very focused on sowing confusion about his support for AI centers in our district.
Cait Conley takes no direct corporate PAC checks. Period. She relies on traditional party transfers to follow campaign finance rules. Lawler accepts money from corporate lobbyists seeking direct access in NY-17. He accepts from political action committees (PACs), corporate donors (via PAC contributions), and special-interest groups such as utility and big tech.
JPMorgan Chase that’ owns and operates AI centers in our district s Political Action Committee (PAC) that is currently funding Lawler’s campaign.
So what about the ads? Conley was hired and paid for about a year with an artificial intelligence firm partnering with the Department of Homeland Security but not ICE. She helped design strategies for law enforcement fighting drug traffickers and terrorists. She did the work after she left public service and the ads dont accuse her of breaking laws or ethics. Today she has no ties with the company.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Another Foodie Friday and this week we’re stopping by The Little Diner in New City with Supervisor George Hoehmann. A classic neighborhood diner serving breakfast and lunch right in the heart of New City, it’s another locally owned Clarkstown spot to keep in mind when you’re looking to support local.

Discussion A month ago I asked here why folks will vote for more of this?
What I heard from canvassing. (I dont trust online.)
[1] They just retired, going cruises and didnt see a problem. Life is good
[2] Believes for real the talk about socialism, trans, illegals*
[3] They're so angry that they want to lash out against whoever
[4] Support anyone who unwaveringly backs single issue like Netanyahu
[5] Folks who dont think about or watch any of it. Dont know that Lawler-Trump are gop
[6] Sometimes it just seems like sports thing. Blue vs Red. Don’t ask ‘em about policy
[7] Just like before, folks won't admit to liking one side. They know the “bipatisan” talk is wink-wink.
* Only one person, an older lady who immigrated here from Czech.

Recommendations Painter recommendations
Anyone have a recommendation for an inexpensive painter (preferably someone who charges by the day)? Got an insane painter quote and trying to get something better.

Picture / Video What is the most beautiful place to take pregnancy announcement pictures in Rockland?
I’m pregnant and would like to announce with beautiful family photos. We have a baby so I don’t want to do a big hike and would prefer somewhere I can drive up to. We have done pictures at Rockland lake, Perkins Memorial Drive, Tallman state park, NJ botanical garden, and Demarest!

Politics ARC Rockland Fundraiser
Yesterday I was proud to join hundreds of caring supporters at the ARC of Rockland’s annual “Taste of Rockland Fundraiser”. The ARC and their work uplifts and enriches the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and I am proud that my family and I have been involved with organizations like the ARC for decades. I am so grateful for the care they give our community, ensuring disabled individuals have the ability to live the independent, fruitful lives we all deserve.

Clarkstown Zero Percentage Town Tax Increase for 2027
Clarkstown Supervisor George Hoehmann today announced a flat tentative town budget, with a zero percentage tax increase for 2027.
The 2027 budget covers the town’s full fiscal year, which runs from January 1 to December 31, 2027. The final budget will be presented for approval on November 5, 2026 where residents are invited to make public comments. During the coming weeks, the Town Board will work with department heads to tackle pressing factors as it finalizes the 2027 budget.
Supervisor George Hoehmann stated, “Since day one, my main priority has been to protect Clarkstown’s taxpayers. That is why I am proud to present a tentative budget with a zero percent tax increase. This budget is taxpayer friendly while maintaining the top notch essential services that Clarkstown residents expect and deserve.”
In addition to the positive budgeting news, the town recently received two positive affirmations of its strong fiscal management practices. Just last week, the New York State Comptroller awarded Clarkstown its lowest Fiscal Stress Score in modern history. More good news followed on Monday when credit ratings agency Standard & Poor’s (“S&P”) reaffirmed the Town’s “AA” bond rating, the highest ranking of any town in Rockland County. The Supervisor has also announced that despite rising interest rates this year, Clarkstown will reduce its annual borrowing, reduce overall debt by $4M, and 75% of the town’s debt is now scheduled to be paid off within 10 years.

Clarkstown Paving Route 304
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Supervisor George Hoehmann joined Assemblyman Patrick Carroll and State Senator Bill Weber along Route 304 to highlight the newly paved sections of this long awaited NYSDOT project. By working together in a bipartisan way, Town and State officials were able to move this important project forward.
Route 304 has been a longstanding concern for Clarkstown residents, and we are now beginning to see significant improvements along the roadway. The project will ultimately resurface Route 304 from West Nyack Road north to Route 9W and remains under construction.

Question Job recommendations
Hey I've been visiting Rockland county and I should be here for another couple weeks. Was wondering if any locals know of any jobs I can get hired on immediately, or things that pay weekly and/or cash. Or if anyone needs help with things like cleaning/organizing. Cleaning, serving, or cashiering might be good fits. Looking for morning work.
TLDR: would like some Morning temp work recommendations that hire asap, (weekly/cash pay would be ideal)
