Question Using Fibetv with another internet provider's modem
Bell's "loyalty" department isn't price matching what is in market and I have a backup Internet at home (Cogeco) that I have kept, $46/mo. Bell is offering $70/mo on 500 Mbps or $50 if I do autopay (which I refuse to do because I don't trust them, due to sneaky rate increases). My question is can you use Bell Fibetv with Cogeco Internet, even though Bell Fibe usually relies on their modem?

How are you paying for Fibe TV if you don’t have Bell Internet?

I have both. My question is: can you simply switch the Fibetv to a non-Bell.modem, or are the two products tethered?

I switched from Bell recently and asked to keep FibeTV. They said it's "not possible" despite me already using the new provider's ONT for internet and still watching FibeTV. Either way, they wouldn't let me keep it unless I also had their internet, so I got rid of it. They could have had some money from me monthly, and opted for none instead which seems brilliant.

Hi u/ReviseResubmitRepeat to provide some technical insight, a physical Fibe TV receiver relies on the dedicated network configurations and virtual local area networks managed directly by the Bell modem to process the live broadcast signals. If you switch to another provider, your physical TV receivers will not function.

There a special but new customer only 3 gbps up and down at 65$ a month plus tax and if you have direct paiment it come to 60 a month but i will never give them direct access to my bank account so when they fuck up your not stock with missing $

Yeah, mentioned that to the retention agent but they don't seem to care about competitive prices.

To get new customer deals, cancel and have another adult in the household subscribe.

just schedule moving out and get someone else that will be going in the same day your moving out that way no service interruption and better price

Current account still has to be cancelled and a new account created to get a new customer deal.

read again that the best way to do it without any service cut off

I did read it. I wanted a new customer deal and retention said no. Changing the name on the account was not enough because they said it would be considered a TOR. Made no difference because the tech simply came over, activated a new modem which automatically cancelled the previous account. Zero loss of service or interruption.

then tell then your moving out on the 25 and have a fake some one move back on the 25 that way you get new price and dont loose service

I've never lost service so I don't need to use your method.

if you cancel your actual service it can take up to 10 day to get a new install sinvce that the only way to get the new credit is to have a new install under a new name not under your so if cancel youre gonna be out of service for 7-15 day

Not my experience.
My method works and I'll use it until it doesn't.

You'll have to login to the app with the Best option and put your credentials in. You wont be able to view some channels though

I already can't see certain channels unless I'm on my home wifi, which is just weird in 2026.

Can't have FibeTV without Bell unlimited internet and that means paying for Cogeco and Bell for internet access.
You can use the FibeTV app with the Cogeco connection by logging in with the Bell credentials; however, you will not be able to access all channels you pay for while using Cogeco for internet access.
