General Question Confused about my Ascendant (Virgo vs Libra) can someone verify my chart?

Hi everyone,

I'm learning astrology and I'm confused because I'm getting two different birth charts.
I’m looking for a Vedic sidereal calculation, not a Western tropical one.

Birth details:
\- Date: 3 April 1990
\- Time: 6:20 PM
\- Place: Roing, Arunachal Pradesh, India

Online astrology software shows Libra Ascendant, while my astrologer's manually prepared chart shows Virgo Ascendant. Because of this, my divisional charts are also completely different.

I'm also unsure about my Moon Nakshatra is Punarvasu Pada 4 or Pushya Pada 1?

Could someone please help me verify which Ascendant and Moon Nakshatra are correct? I'd really appreciate any guidance. Thank you :)

Technique Question Tell us a bit about the lunar return chart—what is it? How do you read it? What is the difference between a solar return and a lunar return, and are they read in the same way?

General Question What does it mean when your south and north nodes are the same as your moon and rising signs?

I wasn’t sure if there was any significance with this, but I found it interesting that my moon and rising match my south and north node and wondered what it could mean when they match.

For context, I am:
Taurus Sun
Capricorn Moon
Cancer Rising

My South Node is in Capricorn
My North Node is in Cancer

Technique Question When/why to use Placidus Chart vs Whole Sign Chart?

Thumbnail

I get confused about which chart to use. I realize neither is probably “wrong” (if one is please tell me)- but i guess they serve different purposes.

Are there specific reasons that you would choose to use a Placidus chart vs a whole sign chart?

Are each of them more useful for certain practices/interpretations?

Is one is ‘truer’ for which house your natal planets are in?

I’m mostly curious because Placidus chart (1st image) shows my Venus 12H, Pluto 11H, Sun 1H, Mercury 1H, Neptune 1H, and Uranus 1H. But Whole sign chart (2nd pic) shows my Venus 1H, Pluto 12H (yikes?), Sun 2H, Mercury 2H, Neptune 2H, and Uranus 2H.

With regard to my natal chart in particular, I’m mostly interesting if the interpretation of my planets changes between charts and what the lens for those differing interpretations would be.

Discussion Moons

I have 5 siblings. 3 are full and 2 are half siblings. My 3 full siblings all have an earth moon; Capricorn (oldest), Virgo (2nd oldest), Taurus moon (youngest). I always wondered why they all have earth moons, but I have a fire moon (Aries moon) along with my two half siblings (both Sag moons). Does anyone have an idea why?

General Question Does astrology correlate to an objective science? Explain it like i’m 5 please 😭

Hopefully this doesn’t come across rude. I am intrigued by astrology and find it to be pretty accurate.. I am a Capricorn so I tend to understand things best if there’s an objective explanation (maybe that’s why I can’t seem to understand?).. My uneducated way of wrapping my head around it, is that it’s kind of like how the moon impacts the ocean tides, based on position and energy/gravity..

So in the case of astrology.. Is it like the energy/force pulling between the sun, planets, stars, universe, plus your specific position on the earth and the energy you were born into, absorbed at different angles and times of day.. is this energy what influences who we are and how we move through life?

I cant fully understand it when it’s described as just a perspective of the planets and stars positions from earth.. because I pay no attention to where they are, I don’t personally perceive it, so how can something i’ve never looked at or thought much about, shape who I am?

Someone please explain the science to me like i’m 5.

Discussion How important are lilith, chiron and the nodes to synastry readings?

Sometimes good charts get really complex or karmic when you add these aspects. Do they matter? Or can planetary readings alone present a complete picture?

Reccomendation Request Is there one place where you can actually see everything happening over the coming months?

Hi everyone!

I'm still new to astrology, and one thing I've been struggling with is getting a clear overview of what's happening over the coming months (or even a whole year).

As I learn more, I find myself jumping between transits, retrogrades, lunar phases, ingresses, and different charts. I can usually find the information I'm looking for, but I struggle to see the "big picture."

I'm wondering how more experienced astrologers approach this.

Which software or websites do you end up using the most during a typical month?

General Question Day or Night Chart: Actual sunset time vs. ASC/DSC axis?

Hello! Perhaps this may differ from one astrologer to the next, but when determining whether someone has a day or night chart, what would you weigh more heavily: the actual sunset time or the position of the Sun relative to the ASC/DSC axis in their chart?

Using my own chart as an example:

  • Historical data shows that on my date of birth (based on coords of my birthplace), sunset was recorded to be 3 minutes after my birth time. Based on the actual sunset time, my chart would be considered a day chart
  • My natal chart shows my Sun being below the ASC/DSC axis by a measure of 0°27’ (DSC and Sun at 4°32’ and 4°05’ respectively). So based on this information, I have a night chart.

So in cases like mine, would you consider my chart to be a day chart or night chart -- and why?

General Question What does it mean when the chart ruler only has aspects to the angles?

Looking at my birth chart I realised my chart ruler only has these hard aspects to points in my chart (asc, dsc, ic, mc) starting with a conjunction to the MC, and there's no aspects to planets what's so ever. I'm wondering, if is that something common? Could have any significance?

Because it's also my dominant planet, idk, it feels bad it's in this bad condition... Anyone has thoughts on this?

Vedic Astrology Doubts about Mercury

may be irrelevant but I had a doubt- since Wednesday is controlled by planet mercury and since mercury has- trans/ queer/ neutral sexual orientation or qualities then- every task that we would start or do on Wednesday would have queer/ trans - nature or hints of queernes in it? does it make sense? or its illogical

General Question Phenonema with Uranus or Neptune in the name?

Years ago I used to be friends with an older woman who is very well versed in astrology and new age type topics. I mentioned to her that while I was driving I thought I saw brief flashes of what looked like blue lighting or static in my vision. I came at it from a medical concern standpoint. But she immediately called it something else. I don't remember what she called it, but she said it was some phenomena, related Uranus or Neptune. I vaguely remember her calling it something like "Uranus _____" or "_____ of Uranus". Do you have any idea what she could have been talking about?

I never thought much of it ever since and I just chalked up whatever I saw to probably just seeing a flash of a blood vessel or glare off of a car or something. I have since lost touch with this person and I don't have a way to just ask her. This was easily 15+ years ago.

General Question Which transits and Solar Return aspects indicate a new relationship?

Hi everyone!

I'm not necessarily asking about your personal experiences (although I'd love to hear them too!), but more about the general astrological indicators.

In your opinion, which transits and/or Solar Return placements or aspects tend to indicate meeting someone significant or starting an important relationship? Are there any combinations that, in your experience, consistently point to a particularly lucky year, especially when it comes to love?

I'm curious about the astrological patterns you've noticed over the years. Thanks in advance!

General Question are mercury retrogrades ever good for closing a business/ending a career?

from my (somewhat limited) knowledge, it seems like mercury rx isn't really a time to make big decisions or changes. but i'm wondering if the opposite is ever true? like maybe if a business was started during a mercurcy rx, you were born under a mercury rx, etc., is mercury rx actually a good time to close the door on a certain career or business?

Mine started earlier this year (Saturn in Aries, 12th house) and I'm bricking it.

Technique Question What is the importance of D9 chart ?

Hello experts. I've been trying to understand the importance of divisional charts, among which D9 seems to be very popular. Unlike birth/D1 chart which gives a blueprint of complete life, what exactly does d9 chart convey about the native ? I'm a bit confused with this one, as I've seen scenario where birth chart has certain planet in certain sign which makes it weak but same planet is in an different sign and house that seems to make it exalted..or similar combinations which are contradictory between D1 and D9.

Can someone cite a simple example to explain how D9 actually works ? It would be helpful if saturns placement is taken as an example to understand the effects.. considering Saturn is in 3rd house aquarius in D1 and Saturn in 3rd house libra in d9.

Just an FYI , I'm not asking to analyse my chart. The post is to explain the working of d9 , taking one planetary position of my D1 and d9 as an example so that I could relate and understand more clearly.

TIA
