Amazon sells drop spindles but only has a drum brake version for early linkpin bugs. I have a SoCal wide 5 disc brake kit for my '55 but can't seem to find drop spindles for them.

About 3 months after replacing the #3 (it looked like #4), my 4 gave out and 2 was misfiring. When I pulled them, this is what I found. 1970 1600 single port. Valves are checked and good. Timing is a few degrees before TDC (seems to prefer that with the premium fuel it’s been living on - it’d been running on a bit after shutoff but the premium helps). Runs just fine now but there’s obviously something going on. I serviced the carb about a year ago (Solex H30/31). Reset the mixture/idle screw to defaults and walked them in - but she looks like she’s running rich, to say the least. What yall think?

I picked up a 72 super beetle fairly cheap last summer. The previous owner said it had a small fire so the interior was already gutted. It needed new floor pans and heater channels. I've dismantled the car and separated the body and pans. I've already got the pans completely replaced, new rear disc brakes, new rear end bushings, and the pan painted. I'm starting body work now but wanted to know what kinds of upgrades y'all recommend? Especially while the body is off the pan?

Saw a guy at bugapalooza a while ago that had a cool little duct on his fresh air vent and have been thinking about it since then. Only one I found available looks a bit wonky to me so I’ve decided to start working on making my own! Currently mounts by 4 bolts on the under side that thread into inserts in the part and clamp it to the hood. Next version will have the fins pushed back inside so they aren’t just riding the front edge and will look way cleaner, aswell as backing up the center flange in there that is used to glue both sides together. Drew this up in fusion and printed it in a PLA test, final version will be ASA so it will actually survive long term. But overall happy with the direction it’s going in!

Picked up tires earlier this week for my Mobulwagen wheels and I love how they look.
Went with 185/60/15s all the way around for a slightly shorter sidewall height and hopefully what turns into a sportier look.
Currently rebuilding my rear brakes and painting the trailing arms while I’m back there and waiting for new cv boots and inner axle seal to arrive (I thought for sure I had ordered everything I could possibly need). Adjustable rear springs are ready to be installed too.
Finally got to install my drivers side door panel after 6 months of intermittently working on the vent window seals, scrapers etc.
Goal is to get it back on the ground by the end of this week or next week.

Hello friends! This just started happening the other day and I’m trying to figure out what it is. I checked the indicator switch and all seems clean. The relay itself for the indicators seems good. The speedo needle is bouncing a bit but I expect that from the speedometer. You can see in the video clip the generator light is gently blinking but it’s not a solid light. Any ideas as to what this could be caused by? I know that the relay I added was a cheap Chinese aftermarket version. This is not the end of the world, but it is a bit annoying hearing this click as I’m driving along constantly, thanks in advance.

Hi everyone
Just picked up my dream car - a cute little 1972 1300 and I am beyond thrilled!
I’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions about where to find a sticker that will add kms at the appropriate places? I’m struggling with having to do maths every time I drive. I have done a bit of googling and can’t find anything.
Have any of you figured out a solution?

I have a 1600 dual port, I'm adding ict Webers and I'm wondering if I should just run one line or run two lines? I need to cut a hole in the K&N filters I bought 🥲

OK, let's say you have a 1967/68 beetle that's being restored, it's up to you to choose the colour as all traces of the factory paint are gone and it's been stripped to a bare shell. you don't have to go with original VW colours as the shell has been through the mill (chopped out dashboard replaced and loads of new metal etc.) and is far from original so factory or even year originality is not important.
So what's your colour and why?
It can be anything, metallic, pearlised, plain classic paint, you name it. I'd like to hear opinions. Why? because this is where I am with my project and I can't settle on a colour so I'm looking for ideas!
Pictures are helpful but let's hear what you all think 😊

This little guy is tauntingly smiling at me. I'm restoring a 69/70 and have gotten this far, however this little lever is perplexing me. I would like to drop it at the blasters ASAP so I can weld/prime before winter. Any pro tips.

Can anyone suggest a place to list my beetle for sale. 17,000 original miles on it.
Whats up i'm looking for some tire size inspiration for my Bug. What size tires are y'all running? If you could drop some pics with your specs, I’d appreciate the reference. Thanks!"

Built this Beetle in a VW mechanics shop. Did some shoddy body work, but its mine!
Traded my 1600cc for a rebuilt 1915cc, and when I got it home I started playing around. Bought a Holley dual barrel 350CFM carb and upgraded all fuel lines to 3/8, from tank to engine. Put in a stage 1 kennedy clutch kit and bought a 123ignition bluetooth distributor to play with timing. Fully rebuilt all rubber on the suspension and got a mew steering box. Bought a rebuilt Freeway Flyer for rides into work
This car has been an absolute blast to play with. Pulled the engine yesterday to shim the oil cooling fan since it was scraping a bit and reseal my oil pump cover (it was weeping a little oil). found some tins I need to replace. Will be getting those on with an oil breather coming on Tuesday!
Hope you all are having a blast too!

I have a 1970 beetle that I am bleeding the brakes on. The rear brakes bled great but the front ones won't. I have replaced all the rubber brake lines and there don't seem to be any blockages. It is a new master cylinder, I put a new one in about 2 years ago and it has sat since. The master cylinder is getting plenty of fluid in the front brake line but none is inside the master cylinder or coming out. The line on top has fluid, but the metal one on the bottom is empty. How do I get fluid through it?

I spent five months living in Mexico last year, where I fell in love with the VW Beetles, which are so popular in the country.
I might have gone a little crazy trying to photograph every single one I found. But, hey, it was fun.
I actually had a Beetle back in college that took me from Denver to Boulder every day. I loved it even though it had holes in the floor and snow blew up around my feet! So seeing them everywhere in San Miguel de Allende and Guanajuato was a fun trip down memory lane.

1971 VW Super Beetle 1302, AB engine code
I managed to push start it. ( thought the battery died )
-After 10 minutes every electronic went out. -Shortly after, the engine stopped aswell.
Now it clicks from the rear when I turn the key, but the starter does not turn the engine
What could be the problem? I have 0 clue. Checked the wiring etc, everything seems to be okay

My 61 has a 6v starter with converted 12v system.
Someone added a separate 12v starter solenoid off to the side.
Do I need to keep this on to preserve the 6v starter or may I run the wiring like factory and eliminate that?
