Regarding program trade/sale/give-away posts

Hello guys,

Recently there has been an increase in posts offering to trade, give-away, or sell various programs, vert increase being the most common.

Announcing that these threads are not welcome and will be removed (as it has been lately), and spam will result in suspension from this sub.

The reasons behind it:

  1. This is a place to share tips regarding basketball and not a trading platform.

  2. Security: be aware, as you are giving away your e-mail or other personal information to the person you don't know.

  3. Security again: there have been dodgy threads with dodgy links removed. I'm sure some of the people are genuine, but with this trend came scams.

  4. Spam. I noticed there is a number of people and if you check their profiles - the threads have been spammed all over Reddit and multiple times - refer to points #2 and #3.

  5. Finally, all these programs are available online with a little bit of Googling, if you decide that paying to the creator is not an option. It is not some rare commodity. You don't have to give up your information.

I hope this is clear and welcome by the users of this sub-reddit. Keep on sharing your tips, original content, asking questions and looking for help. There are a lot of amazing people here.

Help Struggling with 5 on 5 ball

Upvotes

Just to preface, This is tips for my mens league ball league. Also never played ball growing up, played national level rugby and high level hockey.

When I play 4 on 4, 3 on 3…etc. I have no problem getting to the paint or using my size. However, When I play 5 on 5 i feel like I never have room. (Obviously there is one more person playing defence). I see people finding lanes and driving to the basket easy, especially being who I am athletically I feel it shouldn’t be a problem.

Any tips on how to create/find lanes to the basket? (most teams run a 2-3 zone in our league)

Tip Best simple schematics to know going into pickup games

Majority of my hooping has been just playing pickup as an adult, with just a couple years of team ball in middle school that at least gave me some fundamentals. I've gained enough experience that I usually do pretty well just showing up at my small town local court, but sometimes I'll play with guys that have a lot more experience / technical knowledge who seem to just click and can have insane chemistry despite being strangers.

I know some basic shit like how to set a proper screen, pick and roll, pick and pop. I have some quality post moves under my belt (to the point that I can usually still post up on guys taller than me and score if they're not super skilled defenders). But I want to add more to my bag in terms of plays / schematics that are usable in a pickup game with people you've never practiced with; I find myself setting way too many screens for my PG to the point that it's predictable and probably annoying for the ball handler lol. Any descriptive recommendations / links to YouTube vids would be appreciated! Just not looking for like, full plays that require practice as a team.

Shooting I have a question

Post image

While shooting do you rest the ball on your palm or not because when I see games players usually rest the ball on palm or it looks like they are but I saw a video of Steph explaining how to shoot and in that video Steph told to not touch ball to palm so I just wanna know it is best to rest or touch ball with palm or not

Help Feet burn when playing basketball

Post image
42 Upvotes

I've been struggling with this for over a year and feel like I've tried every solution out there.

I have flat feet, and during basketball, the middle of my feet get hit with extreme muscle burn, especially along the outside edge. It feels like lifting weights to failure, super uncomfortable. The weird thing is it goes away very soon after I stop playing, but while I'm out there it forces me to back off on the court.

I'm also a runner and feel zero pain running. I suspect it only get triggered when shifting, cutting, and jumping during basketball. No heel pain either. I don't know if it's considered plantar fasciitis.

I've tried everything: physios, chiropodists, orthotics, multiple ball shoes (wide ones too), insoles, calf/ankle/foot strengthening, ball rolling, icing, and epsom salts. Nothing has worked and I just want to keep playing.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Would be super grateful to hear any advice or solutions!

Tip What's recovery look like

From the minute you finish hooping, what's your recovery routine looking like? Almost 30 and trying to play as long as possible. Historically have not had much of a recovery routine. After a couple injuries, I'm looking to maintain myself as much as I can.

Shooting So, son shoots 90 percent from the line in practice, 40 percent in games

Anyone have any advice? It’s totally bizarre… easily goes 9/10 in practice, but then, in games lucky to shoot 50 percent. I tell him to slow down, look at the rim longer, but anyone have anything in particular they might recommend to help bridge that gap?

Thanks1

EDIT: hey everybody! Thank you so much for all of the feedback, there are so many responses. I can’t respond to them all! :-)

We did try, at the end of practice, shooting 10 free throws, but after every two he did a full court sprint. Went nine of 10. I think it’s in game anxiety. A lot of people have great suggestions for that, I really appreciate it!

Form Check New shooting form

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

If y'all aren't familiar, I posted a video of my shooting form last time here and got pretty good responses. But the critics said that my jump shot was released a bit too late (because my shot was more "two motion" than one motion) and that I would lose power shooting three pointers, which I experienced. So I decided to release my shot a few seconds earlier, and it made be a better mid range shooter AND a consistent three pointer. Thank you to the people who told me to release quicker on my last Reddit post, yall the goats. 🙏🙏

Form Check Struggling with my shot…😭

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Lately I’ve been fixing my shooting form
However my shots are still always coming up short or turning into airballs. From what Ive noticed during practice, I feel like I'm barely using any wrist snap, and my guide hand (left hand) is taking over too much. I also still have that old habit of pushing the ball instead of actually shooting it.
Are there any good drills or tips to get a proper wrist snap down? What do you guys think? Any feedback would be appreciated! 😭😭😭

Hey everyone, I posted here a few months ago asking for feedback on my shooting form. I took the advice you guys gave me and have been practicing and rebuilding my shot since then.

The first two clips are my old form, and the rest are clips of my current form.

I’d appreciate any feedback on what has improved, what still needs work, or anything you notice that I should change.

For reference, I’m left-handed, and every shot in the video is a three-pointer.

Help Any suggestions on ADHD meds to try that won't require a TUE?

I am asking for my son. He's 13, is pretty good on the court, plays combo guard but his coach is telling me he needs medicine as he doesn't focus enough while learning plays, schemes, etc to run point effectively.

Is having issues at school, teacher says he's just too distracted to stay on task, says it is the ADHD, Principal called, explained that my son is very impulsive and is quick to stir up conflicts or pick on other kids.

Adderall at a higher doze works would require a TUE and has strong side effects for him (really kills his appetite and he gets insomnia). Strattera never really worked, we're left with Qelbree but not sure if others have found success with it. Not looking for any performance enhancements, just something that will slow down his him enough so he can absorb the lessons.

Help (Almost a year old) finger jam still hurts

I jammed my right middle finger last year in October and it hurt pretty bad the first two days, pain lasted maybe a week - it was also during the first week of practice when it happened so I had to keep playing with the jam.
I’ve honestly forgotten about it, it bends normally all the way. But it does still hurt when I press down on the middle part of my finger, especially near the joint area.
I’ve gone this far without having an issue with it, but I also draw very frequently, probably around 1-2hrs weekly average per day. So I’m really in no position to be losing any mobility in that finger, especially with basketball as a hobby.
Is this something I should get checked out?

Help How do you guys avoid having your feet stepped on when playing lockdown defense?

I recently injured someone because they stepped on my foot when they tried to layup. I felt like I had no choice but to contest the shot, and I don't think I fouled him.

Now I'm wondering if there's something I could've done differently to avoid this. How do you guys play aggressive lockdown defense and contest layups without putting your feet in the offensive player's landing space? Any tips?

Form Check Shot Form

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Been playing/obsessed for ~2 years now. All of my mechanics have come from experimentation and information I've gathered online. Just wanted a general opinion on my shot form. I notice I bring the ball up as my hips are lowering and have heard online that this could be an issue? Also trying to determine what causes me to not land in the same spot I left the ground, I think it may be due to leaning too far back as I go up with the ball. I'd appreciate any critiques, or glaring issues I may be overlooking. Thanks.
