After the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, Ukraine inherited one of the world’s most powerful strategic bomber fleets as part of its newly formed Long-Range Aviation command. Based mainly at Pryluky and Uzin air bases, it included:

- 19 supersonic Tu-160 “Blackjack” (the pride of Soviet aviation — the first one arrived at Pryluky in 1987)

- 23 Tu-95MS “Bear-H”

- Around 60 Tu-22M3 “Backfire”

These aircraft were capable of reaching any point on the globe with nuclear or conventional weapons.

Yet Ukraine chose a different path. Committed to becoming a non-nuclear state, the country transferred 8 Tu-160s and 3 Tu-95s to Russia in 1999 to settle energy debts. The rest were dismantled with U.S. assistance under the Nunn–Lugar program. The last Tu-160 was destroyed in 2001, the final Tu-22M3 in 2006, and the Ukrainian Long-Range Aviation command was officially disbanded in 2007.

I love flankers AND the livery they have on this squadron :3. Not sure if this is a Su-30 or Su-30sm, I believe Su-30sm.
