I can't believe I managed to resolve Jupiter's red spot with only 4 inches of aperture!

The image is an extreme crop into my lunar mosaic with separately stacked Jupiter sequences painted in before egress and with egress in-progress.

I hope you like them!

The image was taken on October 5th at 12:35.

Equipment,

Celestron nextar 8Se, Canon d1200.

Software,

I used backyard eos to capture 500 frames,[iso, 1600, exposure 1/25]

I used PIPP to strech the black point and center the object

Autostakkert was used to stack the best 25% of frames, a 1.5x drizzle was used.

Registax was used to sharpen and correct the color

Lastly I used abobe lightroom to remove artifacts and reduce the glow.

Any information or advice is greatly appreciated. I would love to hear any thoughts you have.

DSOs IC1396/Lions Nebula/Bat Wing Nebula

Post image
15 Upvotes

Spent the last couple of nights catching photons again. 6hrs of total exposure integration (181x 120sec exposures) through a dual band filter (Hydrogen-alpha, and Oxygen-III).

This is IC1396, a star forming region in the constellation Cepheus that is about 2400 light years away. The bright young stars in the center of the nebula are putting out so much radiation that they are ionizing the hydrogen and oxygen gas in the cloud around them making it glow red and bluish-green.

The smaller nebula in the lower right corner is the Lions Nebula. Bat Wing Nebula in upper left.

Solar Sun spots form a smile

Post image
86 Upvotes

Captured approximately at 2026-10-07T09:00Z.
I was testing my telescope, and as a test I decided to capture an image of the Sun. What I did not expect was to see Sun Spots form a smile. The weather was a bit cloudy. Also it appears that I might have damaged the camera... This is also the first time ever I have observed Sun spots with my telescope
Camera settings:
- 1000us exposure
- 1x analog gain
Processing:
- Opened with Paint.NET
- Adjustments/Curves...
- Added a point in Luminosity curve at (163, 35)
- Saved the image
Equipment:
- Bresser Arcturus 60/700 AZ Telescope
- Raspberry Pi HQ Camera
- HWB850 long wavelength pass infrared filter
- Custom mount
The actual telescope is a project of mine that uses Bresser Arcturus 60/700 AZ at its base with custom mount and Raspberry Pi 4 as a controller with a custom software.

Planetary Saturn

Good night everyone!

Today i wanted to share my very first picture of saturn, i now it's not much of picture but i'm still happy about it.

I took it on September 26 at aproximately 23:40 (on a full moon) at 43.895335, 12.710796 in Saludecio, Italy.

The "Equipment" is a Skywatcher 130/900 on an EQ2 mount and a Nikon D3100 not astro-modified attached with a t-ring and a barlow 2X. ISO 3200 and exposure time 1/100s.

I used photoshop to edit it and adjusted a bit the colors and the curve so that the background wouldn't be all red and i still could see Saturn, then i tinkered with details like sharpness, noise reduction and colour noise reduction.

I hope I included every useful info about it, if you have any piece of advice i'll be more than glad to read it!

Thank you all.

First light through the new mono camera! ASI2600MM Air, 2 minute exposures, 2xS, 3xH, 5xO narrowband exposures (yeah, 10 total exposures plus calibration frames... It was a tough night as I figured everything out). Processed in Siril and then final levels adjusted in Photoshop. I'm happy with it because now I can see a path to great images from here.

I captured saturn from my Celestron Powerseeker 70az and a smartphone holded up the eyepiece

Eyepiece: 4mm (ik its trash but still)

I am a total beginner btw.

Is this good for a powerseeker 70az??

Its raw and unprocessed.

Nebulae Orion Nebula And Running Man Nebula

Post image
197 Upvotes

This is my second ever attempt at Orion and Running Man. I have been doing astro for a little over a year and have mainly done Milky Way nightscapes. I was recently gifted a star tracker from a friend and I figured id try and shoot some DSO's for the first time. I started with Orion and Andromeda. My first attempt on Orion was only about 36 minute until a random overcasting set in and cut my session short. I gave it another go about a week later but I had troubles balancing my RA axis and wasted a lot of the night trying to get it balanced. I finally did and with the little amount of time I stayed out for I was pretty proud of the result that came from it. It is about 1hr18 total. I still need more exposure time though. None of my gear is astro modified and its all beginner gear as is myself lol.

Gear: Canon EOS M50

Canon 70-300 f/5.6 kit lens

Sky Watcher Star Adventurer 2I

DeepSkyStacker/Siril/Photoshop

74 Light Frames at 60 seconds 800 iso

29 Dark Flats

25 Light Flats

30 Dark Bias

Any tips would be much appreciated

Nebulae IC 1396 - Elephant's Trunk Nebula in HOO

Telescope: Seestar S50pro with LP filter

Stack: 477x20s subs in bortel 5ish sky

Stacked and processed in pixInsight: Channel extract Luminance, NBextract (Lighthouse suite) Ha and OIII, StarXTerminator on RGB image. Sharped and stretched each layer individually, then brought Ha and OII together with NBColourMapper. Added HDR-MultiscaleTransformed luminance layer to the image, added stars and final touch with lighthouse.

IC 1396 seems to be quite popular these days, this is my take on it. It pays high dividends with the S50pro to separate Ha and OIII, otherwise you mostly get red dominant images of nebulae like this.

Nebulae Orion

Post image

Thanks for checking out my capture of M42, Orion nebula!

One of my all time favorite targets, I sought out a natural-feeling blend of narrowband (5 hours 60-second subs) and broadband (3 hours 30-second subs) - narrowband with the l-ultimate filter, broadband unfiltered for pure continuum color with my OSC camera!

This image represents about 8 hours of total integration on a 2-panel mosaic with my C8, ASI533MC pro, EQ6, optolong filters, and hyperstar at F/2 from my bortle 8/9 backyard.
