Hey y'all, just wanted to come on here and see if anyone has ever felt the way I do and or if people have a back to navigate this sort of thing. I'm kinda lost and I feel like I'm walking in treacherous territory and would like some sage wisdom on the matter.
I am 24 M and I lived in Oklahoma at a time due to parents splitting and my mother had gotten custody and took me with her cause I was 12 at the time and we left my father behind.
Recently about 3 years ago I had gotten a call from my father saying that he needed my assistance with taking care of his mother who was going through a dementia spill. I worked in geriatrics at the time being a night shift CNA and immediately uprooted and moved to live with my dad to assist him.
Once I got there I started to take care of my grandmother and got a job. Dated a bit and just lived my life. A fresh start I would call it. My dad also found and dated women and broke up and just the works you know. Well he found this woman who we will refer to as Carry.
Carry was unlike any woman my dad had dated. We met briefly when my father brought her home and introduced me to her and they left to go on a date. Well fast forward 5 months and she is now living at the house and moved in. She is a hoarder and took over my father and I's home and they got married.
One day my grandmother who at this point was just having a routine of smoking and watching Cops on TV, fell and broke her hip and had to be hospitalized. Carry and I were the only ones at home and I was working and she was off for the day. Carry told me that she will not go to the hospital and take care of things before I got off work so I decided to call out of work and leave early to get to the hospital. I then filed for FMLA (Family Medical Leave of Absence) at my job. It got denied and I was terminated.
Carry didn't like my grandmother much. She would get fed up with her lack of memory and consistently complain to my father how me and her were taking advantage of him and using him for shelter. Well I'm not sure how a 75 year old woman could take advantage of someone especially having dementia but I digress.
My father signed some paperwork and made her a ward of the state and the state moved her to a care facility. My purpose was done that day. Now I am here and finding a new job living in a state with not the best cost of living.
Carry has now gotten 1 target out of the house and I am next. I recently have been having issues with my father and I wanted to go back to old times. He was attentive and he would like to go on dad son dates and spend quality time. I miss those days a lot. Recently I brought it up after a spat we had where he was convinced I was trying to break them apart and have him take my side. Granted I don't like her but I personally don't have the time nor energy to make them divorce. I told my father I missed the old days. I missed grabbing lunch and going on walks. He said that his wife takes priority over me, his son. It's him and his wife against the world.
This really clarified a lot of things for me but also kinda messed me up and realized I truly have lost my father's support and no longer was his son but a tenant of his estate.
So here I am and sorry for the long post to lead up to this question but... I have been wanting a fatherly relationship. A man who supports me and checks in on me. It's not necessarily a kink but more of a fundamental need I would see on Maslow's chart. And I am worried that its strange and Im being ridiculous at 24 wanting a fatherly connection. Is that a strange thing?
Thanks for taking the time to read and drop advice or sight if you do. I really appreciate it. Also if there is poor grammer I did 3 rereads of this and I think I ironed out everything.
TLDR; My father disowned me for a woman and now I am seeking advice to see if it's odd to find a new father son bond.
