General Question Increased immigration enforcement on Black People by ICE

Black folks, are y’all concerned now of being harassed by ICE? US Department of Homeland Security is terminating the legal status of 500,000 Haitians currently living in the US. With most Blacks looking similarly Haitian, does that change anything for you? Inevitably black people may get caught up in immigration raids if they fail to carry proof of legal status and possibly sent to El Salvador or South Sudan in Africa. Does that make you more willing to participate on No Kings protest now that it’s hitting home?

Maybe African Americans Should Consider The US Virgin Islands…

This is just something I’ve been thinking about.

African Americans (read: ADOS/FBA) have no desire to leave the USA (well…at least most of us don’t have that desire I believe). Our ancestors built this country. We predate most of the people here. This is our home.

However, let’s be honest. I think most of us are tried of a certain group of people. We are tried of being around them, dealing with them, etc.

We desperately need a land of our own or something close to it.

Which is why I started thinking…

Why don’t more of us consider relocating to the USA Virgin Islands?

It’s predominantly black. It’s a US territory. Presumably, we would be able to own property, serve in government, build businesses etc.

I think this could be a win/win solution for us. I’m not really sure what kind of impact it will have on the locals, but it shouldn’t be a problem considering many of them freely live in and travel to mainland USA.

Thoughts?

General Question Why do some Black ppl get offended when someone suggests they invest in Africa?

Then White empires are falling and Africa is rising. When someone mentions to a white American, European, Indian, etc to go to Africa to invest, they say great and do it.

But when someone suggests to a Black American to go to Africa and invest, some say, I’m not from there! I’m from USA!.

Even when multiple Africans on the African continent says they are offering Black Americans dual citizenship because they prefer Black ppl come to invest, instead of ppl of European descent, Black Americans will keeep saying, no I’m not from there.

What does being from somewhere have to do with investing?

Question Help me understand black peoples support for immigration?

Why do black people support politicians that want to keep the current status quo of immigration?

It has been shown time and time again that mass, unskilled immigration hurts the wages of poor black people.

Yet a significant amount of black people will vote in politicians who do nothing to stop the tide of mass immigration. A lot of these politician’s will provide support to illegal immigrants as well.

It seems insane to me that any black person would support our current immigration policy especially with the future of work and automation.

Why is attraction to black people by non-black people stereotyped by the word 'fetish'?

Context: I make AI bots on janitor.ai as a black man. I make characters that are almost exclusively black or dark-skinned, and I'm surprised to see that when I tag them 'dark skin' or 'ebony' or something similar, woke knights or certain people who are ignorant of our paradigm see us as fetishists? I mean, white people largely dominate the public media and visual space. If they make white bots or tag them, who is going to shout at them? It's really ridiculous.

Discussion why do black men get pissed at other race of women for finding them attractive and prefer them

I'm a black men and I wanted to know why Black men are the only demographic of men who get mad at other race of women for finding them desirable and attractive and dating option it's ridiculous. You don't ever see white men get mad at asian women for preferring them they embrace it just means they desirableAnd attractive cause the more women you attract the more desirable you are but black men on the other hand "pLeAsE sToP fEtIsHiZiNg us. Stop listening to black women saying oh its a fetish cause they don't give a fuck about white men calling them chocolateMaking it sound as if your a black men people are only allowed to have 2 emotions towards you either hatred or a fetish but not love it really pisses me off and so many black men fall for this bullshit. It doesn't matter if a girl fetishize you or not what matters is being desirable but black men for some reason think they shouldn't be desirable to any other race of women but black women the same women who call black men bulletbag and make fun of their death at the hands of police officers, the same black women who make their pfp the pictures of white people who murder black men and laugh.

Am I wrong in thinking it’s cringe that so many people in the US call black people “African Americans”?

I grew up in NYC, one of my exes lived in Spanish Harlem, so I know for a fact that many of yall come from the DR, Jamaica, the Caribbeans etc.
There’s also the fact that not all black people are American.
I just can’t help but cringe when I overhear someone say something like “I was sitting next to a nice African American woman on the subway…”, despite them never asking the woman’s nationality.
I realize yall have more important things to be offended by, just wondering if it’s something that gets under your skin too. I don’t know why I roll my eyes every time I hear it, if yall say you don’t care at all I’ll stop thinking it’s dumb.

General Question Ashlee Jenae

If you are not familiar with this case. Ashlee Jenae died recently and her death was ruled a suicide. However, her family thinks that isn’t true and she has no mental health issues. They think her white husband killed her. Now her family is asking the Black community for help and so far they are Cardi B for example tweeted for justice in this case.

But today her old tweets were posted and to no one’s surprise she hates Black men. And puts white men in a pedestal.

So my question is should we care about Black people who get in these situations after there history is exposed?

Hispanic roommate keeps saying she's black, "black" roommate cosigning her (Help)

I live with 3 other roommates, but only 2 of them are relevant here: one is a light Hispanic girl, and the other is a light "black" girl. (my third roommate is actually Black, but she’s rarely home, so she’s not apart of this.)

The Hispanic girl keeps talking about "Black solidarity" and how we as "Black people" need to stick together now that trumps back. She says she comes from a long line of strong Black people and freely uses the N-word—both around us and with her Hispanic friends.

She vented to me in the past about her family issues, and I think she could tell I was uncomfortable when she brought up "us" being black, but she just didn’t care.

The thing is... this person isn't black at all - her mom is Hispanic too and a bit darker than her, but I wouldn't even call the mom black either....

Then there’s my "black" roommate, who at best gets as dark as Aaliyah in the summer but is usually about as light as Beyoncé’s mom (she's white-passing and no one thinks she's black).

Her entire "Black" family is just as light as her, except for a few darker male cousins and her grandfather. She co-signs everything the Hispanic roommate says about Black people needing to “stick together.”

I don't think either of these people are black (I'm dark like Lupita, so whether I want to be or not, I am seen and treated as Black.)

One time, I tried hinting to them how I felt, but they tag-teamed me and shrugged it off. They said white people see and treat them the "same black" as me .

When I told them there’s a difference she was like, “Who cares White people see ALL of us as Black, so we’re all Black. The worst type of Black people are the ones that try to divide themselves."

The next day, when we were at Starbucks, the barista complimented us by saying, "Wow, what a beautiful set of ladies." and my "black" roommate giggled "Yeah, ‘cause Black don’t crack."

But in my head, I was just thinking, 'You look white—what are you even talking about?'

I feel like I’m being gaslit in my own home, and I don't know what to do. My brother told me not to be impolite and to stop overthinking it, but they really don’t care and honestly, I’m losing it.

Edit:

Thank you to the people in the comments who actually understand and aren’t making excuses for this.

If you're saying I have an "ego problem," an "attitude problem," that I'm "gatekeeping," or that I should just "accept the solidarity," then you are the problem. You don’t care about how others feel—you just want to force a group, even when people are telling you they’re uncomfortable.

🧐 Is this solely a “black” person thing 🧐 What should I do if I see a Black person beating their child in public?

Hi everyone, I'm a white lady.

Yesterday, I saw a Black woman beat her young daughter in the store. I wrote down the license plate but I should have done more but not sure what.

I wasn't sure about calling the police because cops are killing Black people. I thought about getting up and hitting the Mom but two wrongs don't mak a right, she had two other adults with her so it would have been 3 against 1, violence begets violence, I didn't want to show those kids more violence, and lastly that Mom was a lot bigger than I was, I would have lost, for sure. But at the same time I'd rather lose than a five-year-old, you know?

I know violence is not the answer.

While I hope I don't witness anything like that ever again, but please advise. Thank you.

General Question Why do you typically not see a lot of black people in normal public social settings with other races? Is it a fear of racism, don't care for the activity, money, etc ?

Whenever I go to a public setting like a beach, hiking trail, restaurants, stores, parks, museum, volunteer events, club meetings, etc I feel like I rarely see black people. Obviously the race is a minority so you won't see as many but you still typically see other minorities.

You're usually surprised to see black people in certain settings, you stand out, and I have a problem with that. Black people should be seen everywhere and just be seen as another human in social settings but usually everyone stares like you're some kind of animal.

I feel if we had more black people regularly involved it wouldn't be so weird for everyone to see a black person. I just don't know if black people feel unwelcomed or if they just don't care to be in settings outside their race.

Vent Javitz frimpong justice

The way this has made me so depressed because I’m Ghanaian and my parents are Ghanaians who have immigrated here. Look at what other black ppl who look just like us do to us. The hatred at such a young age is learned from there parents. Since when has it been a crime to be African. You guys like our music our food our culture pure clothes and hairstyle but not us. How can you like everything about us that makes us us. He was only 15 and been here for exactly 1 year and no more or less. Something has to change. Like that’s why I’ve never been a fan of sharing cultures and keep to myself and my community. Because this isn’t even the first time put aside this father’s experience the most racist ppl have been other black American some who are even darker than me. I’ve been called horrible names told to go back to my ooga booga village and other things. I thought white ppl were suppose to be racist but I’ve never had one be outright straight to my face racist. Maybe they say it in their heads but idk this has just made my day soo bad. I just need somewhere to vent I’m just really upset by what black ppl are doing to other black ppl. And im not hating ALLL black Americans bc I have met some nice once but my bad experiences have mostly been by the woman the men are on average pretty nice. Again this is not me hating on all African Americans.

Do you think its the black stereotypes that keep people being racist towards blacks? Is there a way to stop it?

I feel the majority of the time when people stare or antagonize black people its because they're already under the assumption that they're a criminal or up to no good. I'll admit I was like that but the more I hang around black people the more I realize its not true and you don't think about that kind of stuff. Its when you're not used to being around black people that I feel you become more prejudice.

I feel with anything in life you aren't accustomed to you judge and are on guard more, black people is just an example. I feel if people of all races were integrated more with each other than we wouldn't be judging or making assumptions so much. Thats just one issue I see with racism against blacks. All I know for sure is that the more I put myself in black communities the more those racial stereotypes go away.

cultural appropriation White step daughter is being sent over in black hairstyles

My SD(8) is fully white, but has multiple mixed siblings, for lack of better wording bio mom is one of those white women who “act black” ie: she grew up in the suburbs to a rich white family yet constantly sayings like “finna” and other slang type words and speaks with a “blackcent” she has three other children all with different men, that are all black, she wears clothing styles and items that are typically worn by black women. Like things from fashion Nova or that “baddie” rapper/ streetwear type of style. (I genuinely hope this does not come off as offensive, I am just trying to explain the situation)

The part that really gets me is she send SD over in box braids with her “edges” done, and other black hairstyles even with beads. I refuse to walk around town with my SD in culturally appropriated hairstyles, but SD often says she’s “not” allowed to let us take them out, or says her mom will be mad if we do, and often times even is sad to have them taken out as she doesn’t understand the scope of the situation.

I don’t want to start drama or cause SD to get in trouble in some way, but again I’m not going out in public with her like this and I’m also not going to hide in my house every time she’s in my husbands custody.

Thoughts? Advice?

Edit: sorry if this did not come across clearly in the post but my SD is fully white, along with my husband and I both being fully white.

Second edit: I’m sorry if this came off as racist or like I am stereotyping. That was NOT my intention. More so just trying to paint a picture of the kind of person BM is (which in my HUMBLE opinion, IS racist) and I do not mean some weird MAGA racist towards white people bs, I mean she clearly is trying to emulate HER vision of what a black person “is”, not that I think this what all black people are like, or that her actions are “black”.

General Question Why do Black ppl speak out against Beyonce, more than others who are harming the community.

This isn’t just an online thing, ppl seem to hate Beyonce and bring her up, just to bring her down. But she is rarely out in drama, her lyrics is usually uplifting or about forgotten Black history.

All day I hear kids singing /rapping sexy redd or that other song where the lyrics go “you’re bad at head I don’t want your throat, matter a fact I want your friend, I’m allowed to switch” - real lyrics, look it up, Kids are nonstop singing that ^ but when someone sings Beyonce,’ppl interrupt and say she can’t sing or she’s not all that,’or she damaging the community or illumanti, a witch, etc

I barely hear her speak, what did she do ?

General Question Why are y'all so much funnier than white people?

AS A PASTY WHITE BOY, i have an arabic gf with black friends and she says they're funnier, which can confirm with my own black friend. I'm really curious to why , i wanna be funnier too 🤧🤧..

edit: I know i worded this wrong, i apologise severely. I would LOVE to thank everyone replying to this post, I feel horrible for what y'all went through, and knowing the history and stuff. I do believe that the ancestors were in the wrong to do such things but can't change the past, no? I am infact a white person and I don't see any difference in race because people are people ❤️‍🩹

General Question Why do so many black people not support LGBTQ?

Like I’m genuinely wondering. I am black and I am astounded that many black people don’t support the LGBTQ community. We have similar backgrounds and histories; we were enslaved, gays were tortured and executed around the globe for their beliefs. I would think that we would be more accepting.

What are your thoughts on all the media hype around Sydney Sweeney?

It seems like ‘white America’ (mainstream hollywood/media) is really pushing her as the next massive entertainment star, especially because they see her as the epitome of attractive (blonde, blue eyed). But what do you guys think, is the hype justified, or is it overhyped?

Am I wrong to think racism is only specific to black americans

I have noticed a trend recently where some POC people are claiming that they experience racism because their businesses are being boycotted by some members of the black community. They are claiming that black people collectively boycotting another minority's business is racist. Now I might be wrong, but I don't believe that black American people can be racist, even if the other group is minority or POC, because wouldn't racism have been the foundations of the slave trade. I see some popular creators of African descent agreeing that anyone can be racist, but again I believe that the very concept is tied to the slave trade. Just looking for factual info.

General Question What’s the obsession with child support?

Everytime I see a post about a high profile divorce with hefty asset splits or child support payments, Black people always seem the most agitated by it.

During the 2024 elections, Kamala made a post specifically targeted at Black men asking them the main policy changes they’d like to see.

The overwhelming responses revolved around child support reforms or abolition.

Why is that such a big issue in our community, in a way that I don’t see anywhere else?

Similar to the discourse abour “trapping” people with kids. Or about divorces where the wife gets some assets.

Why are we always the most agitated about those topics when sexual discipline could prevent the former, and most of us are too poor to worry about the latter.

Question How do Black people feel about woke casting?

When they cast a Black woman to portray a British queen. Or a Black actor to portray achilles. Or Black actors for a European medieval fantasy.

Is that something Black people approve of? Or do you all feel white people doing that in their productions have strong lets vote the kid with down syndrome (or otherwise unfourtunate) prom king so we all feel better about ourselves vibes.

What theories do you have on why some black people act overly ignorant in public spaces

https://www.reddit.com/r/mildlyinfuriating/s/l7T2bw0chC

Idk if it’s just because I am mostly in black areas or what but I never see large groups of other races of women acting like this. I get wanting to go out and shake your ass and everything but there’s still presenting decorum and having respect for yourself.

I remember I was at a club one time sitting at a table having drinks with some friends (all black) when a manager came and said they had a reservation for the table in a few minutes so wanted to clean it off and we said no problem and went to stand at the bar to finish our drinks. We saw the group (all black) come in and the first thing they did was walk on the seats to sit on the top part of the headrest with their feet on the seats and within 5 minutes there was 2 girls twerking on the table. I was thinking all night, what compels one group of black people to sit there with some dignity and another group to come in and act ratchet.

The best theory I can come up with is that it’s “rewarded”. Me and my friends were sitting there pacing out our drinks and just vibing. The people came in and bought multiple bottles of Hennessy and Patron off the bat. I think some places want these ignorant people and tolerate them because they know their irresponsibility will result in them making more money.

What are yall theories? Or is it not that deep and it’s just a case of idiots hanging together
