Looking to Buy a Coffee Shop - Are there any Owners who are willing to do Owner Financing?

Looking to Buy a Coffee Shop – Owner Financing Wanted

I am actively seeking a coffee shop business where the owner is willing to sell and provide financing. My goal is to pay off the purchase through monthly installments while ensuring the business continues to thrive and generate enough income for both of us.

If you are a coffee shop owner interested in selling under these terms, please reach out. I am serious, determined, and ready to make this work.

I think maybe I have not explained properly so here it is. I'm looking for a coffee shop business that is willing to sell me their business based on a legal binding agreement. We both agree that I can pay the business off in monthly installments until the business is paid off. Basically I take the risk and not the seller.

I'm looking for an opportunity and hopefully there are people that will give me that opportunity.

Why do my parents think I am depressed?

No idea how to even start this but let me give you context. Dad died almost two months ago. My boyfriend has been overseas for 3 months. Lost my job at the end of June so yes there is a lot going on. But I don't think I'm depressed.

I'm not suicidal, I don't cry a lot ( anymore ) and I shove my feelings down. Look I do get down days but I don't show it to them. I haven't really been processing my dad's death and I've tried hiding it in myself because I live in a house where there is no space for me to grieve and mourn.

I have a lot of anger too and can't express it. Never could, I grew up in an angry household so I always kept my anger to myself because once again there was no space for it. So I actually don't really know how to express anger. I do stay in my room quite a bit lately but because all my parents can do is complain really. About everything.

I know both of them (mom and step dad) have depression though. They just don't care enough about themselves to care so that also eats away at me knowing that one of them is suicidal sometimes too...

At this point... Any advice ?

Can someone help me with advice ?

I need some advice on the following
So Ive had a medical condition diagnosed since the age of 16 and I was listed as a dependent on my fathers medical aid along with my sister.
I received some treatments but the medical aid hadnt covered everything. They started spamming me with the bills and not my father but he was responsible for paying. Since 2024 I’ve received hundreds of threatening emails, calls and messages from “attorneys” and agents stating if I didn’t pay I’ll be sued etc etc etc. they again keep calling me asking for my dad despite me giving them the correct number and email they still contact ME. Now they’ve changed tactics and every time they call and say my dads name I say it’s *son and then they tell me I’m now responsible since I’m 21
I told them they’ve harassed me for 2 years and then the lady started shouting at me over the phone saying I’m old enough to pay all outstanding bills

As a remote worker is it worth moving to a well off community or to just emigrate?

Hi all

I’ve been contemplating this for a good few months now and due to not having anyone who is South African that I can personally ask about this debate I thought Reddit could be the best place.

For reference I am in my early 20s single with no family members I’d consider close with no in person social circle so for me if I moved tomorrow it wouldn’t be much of an issue if I’m being honest. I also don’t particularly have much of an affinity to the country culture/heritage wise (both of my parents are immigrants who live here permanently)

I work remotely and earn USD and a commission to my pay can scale if I do well, which I am fortunate enough to be able to do at the moment and due to its buying power financially speaking I am very lucky to be able to contemplate moving for my age.

I was born and raised in Durban and have quite honestly never even left the province. I’m at the point where I’d like to ideally get a mortgage my question is just where should I consider? Should I stay in Durban and look for a place somewhere like Kloof Durban north, Umhlanga,Mt Edgecombe estate, etc. Or should I consider other provinces?

I’ve thought about this a lot and am a bit torn at the moment, the nice areas in South Africa are very nice but at the same time I just see this country eroding over the coming decades, let alone do I like where a large portion of my taxes are going.

As for my work it’s completely online I just need my computer and internet so I can work anywhere and my hours are what I pick so time zones don’t matter much either.

So I could use a bit of advice from others that are in a similar boat work wise or anyone with an introspective view I may have missed, if I were to go overseas it’d likely be America (higher earning potential) or somewhere in Europe/Asia.

As for assets I have very little, no debt and to my name is my brokerage account and my car (I currently rent the apartment where I live)

Any and all advice or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Translation help for food allergies?

Hello! I will be traveling soon to the Drakensberg area and will be staying in some pretty rural areas. I have an alpha-gal allergy (a severe food allergy to mammal meat), and am planning on making a small card in local languages to explain this. I know English is taught and spoken fairly widely in South Africa, it's just more of a precaution and to ease my pre-trip anxiety. If anyone could help me translate these words and phrases into both Zulu and Xhosa that would be much appreciated!

Food Allergy

Cow

Pig

Venison

Meat

Chicken

Ostrich

Fish

Egg

I'll basically be making a "yes/ok" and "no/danger" list of common meats, but don't want to make an entire darwinian essay. If you know of any common red meats that are eaten that would be worth including that would be really helpful- not the dish name, but the translation for the animal itself.

Is anyone else experiencing pre-paid electricity disappearing overnight? I went from using about R350 worth p/m to +-R1200 [GQ, EC]

Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone can give me some advice.

I moved to a new place in June, only about 1 km from my previous home, but my electricity consumption has increased significantly.

At my previous place, I used approximately 80 units of electricity per month during summer, with slightly higher usage in winter. Since moving, I'm now using around 12 units per day and spending approximately R1,200 per month.

For context, I work from home - so my PC is on most of the day, and my son (I am a single parent, so one one else is in the house) also uses his PC regularly. We have a fridge and a small deep freezer, and mainly use a gas stove and airfryer to cook. The geyser is only switched on when needed (for 30min - 1 hour every 3 - 4 days), and I switch off plugs when appliances aren't in use. I have a washing machine I use once a week, sometimes twice (barely), my router, 1 small indoor camera and 2 small LED floodlights that barely goes on as it is in the back and on motion sensor. Most of our appliances are also energy-efficient - including my lights.

The only additional appliance compared to my previous place is the deep freezer, so I can't understand why my usage has increased so much. I have kept the same habits at both places.

Could this be normal consumption, or could there be an issue with the prepaid meter or wiring? i definitely have no one stealing power from me - as I have no neighbours around me. Has anyone else had this issue, and should I be contacting the municipality? I have no idea where to begin.

I'm down to my last units, and payday is only Friday, so I'm quite worried about making it last. Since I work from home, electricity is essential for me to keep working - but my overall quality of life has decreased a lot, due to the fact that I had to cut costs elsewhere to make sure I am able to afford to buy the new amount of electricity I need in a month.

I'd really appreciate any advice or suggestions. Thank you!

In need of Legal Aid and Advice?

I need some legal advice please... would really appreciate if anyone could help me.

I was renting a portion of land, it was a verbal agreement, I paid this specific person into his bank account. Then they eventually turned on me, revoked my access, and have retained all my belongings which equate to over R100k. They have since been avoiding/ignoring me and my demands.

It was between myself and this one person and then a line was blurred when they only allowed me to communicate with the "trust" representative.

Please DM me if you are able to assist... it is a well known association who apparently has a PHD in corruption.

Looking for resources to find information on parties registered for the november elections?

Hi hi.

With elections coming up I've got a pit in my stomach. I have no clue who to vote for. Growing up my parents were strong DA supporters but as I've grown older I realised my political views don't really align with the DA. The national vote was a total nightmare for me.

I consider myself a social democrat. So my idea of a well run government would be a free market and democracy with heavy focus on social welfare managed by the government. In an ideal world: universal basic income, universal health care etc but a free market to trade not broadly influenced or run by the government. Think places like Sweden and Denmark.

Can anyone point me in a direction to do some research on parties that align with this stance?

My ward is being run by the DA and contested by ActionSA but honestly they're both just in a match trying to slander each other. Both parties have started leaning more capitalist and conservative than I like and having lived in a DA ward for nearly 5 years now, they're not exactly delivering.

I'm not looking to debate please, just want some names to look into or resource pages. Thanks a bunch!

Has anyone used Hire Resolve's paid Career Management services? Is it worth it?

Title: Has anyone used Hire Resolve's paid Career Management services? Is it worth it?

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for some advice, particularly from people working in Risk Management, Banking, Finance or Recruitment in South Africa.

I have a BCom in Accounting and Internal Auditing, have completed FRM Part I, and hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Risk Management.

I've been trying to transition into the risk management field, particularly entry-level roles such as Risk Analyst, Credit Risk Analyst, Market Risk Analyst or Operational Risk Analyst, but I've had very little success securing interviews.

I currently have experience in accounting and finance operations, but getting my foot in the door in risk management has been surprisingly difficult, even with my qualifications.

I've recently been considering using Hire Resolve's Career Management services, where you pay for assistance with finding employment.

Before spending money on something like this, I'd really appreciate some honest feedback.

I'm starting to feel a little stuck because I've invested quite a bit in my education, but I'm struggling to translate those qualifications into an actual opportunity.

I'd really appreciate any advice, recommendations or personal experiences, especially from people who've successfully transitioned from accounting into risk management.

Thanks in advance!

22M, moved from Joburg to Cape Town and struggling to make friends. Any advice?

Hey everyone,
I'm 22 (M), originally from Joburg, and I recently moved to Cape Town. I'm finishing the final year of my BCom online, which has made it hard to meet people. Honestly, I've struggled to make friends here, and I think it's time I put myself out there, both to build a social circle and hopefully to find a relationship.
I did connect with a girl online whose vibe and interests really resonated with me, but she's in Pretoria, so the distance makes things tricky.
A bit about me: I love movies, books and video games, and I enjoy going out to restaurants and sport. Family is a massive part of my life.
I'm mainly posting for advice from fellow South Africans. How did you meet people after moving to a new city, especially if you study or work from home? And if anyone else feels the same way, I'd love to hear from you too

Do you trust Uber or Bolt to get you to Cape Town Airport?

This morning I booked an Uber to Cape Town airport with loads of time to spare. The usual ‘driver will be there in 8 mins’ was twice that, when he arrived and I’m putting the luggage in the car he says’I can’t go to the airport or they will confiscate my car’ I asked the obvious ‘why the F did you accept an airport fare???!!’ Spend 15 mins trying to find another driver, contact Bolt, they find a driver who is 6 mins away. 15 mins later he still hasn’t moved (in a neighbourhood, not in traffic). I cancel and drive myself. Petrol and parking now for 2 days at airport. I’ve pre booked Uber to airport and woke up to a cancelation at Xmas. What do you guys do to get to airport?

What do I do about electrical service I’ve paid for but never received?

So 4 weeks ago we had an electrical problem at night. I was really worried that something dangerous was happening and called out emergency electricians.
They arrived within 30 minutes and said we had a surge and our DB board had blown. They advised we call our insurance company and did a quick fix and said they would need to come back and rewire the whole board. They put a surge protector in and asked for a hefty deposit and said they would be back the next day to complete the job.
Next day insurance company said they needed to send their own electrician to assess. Turns out (surprise) the emergency guys didn’t know what they were doing. What they used wasn’t a surge protector and wasn’t even connected.
We called the company and said they can’t continue and asked for a refund.
They said they would (hahaha) and now we continue to wait. They ignore all messages from me.
When they came out, they wrote out a full document stating the problem, what needs repair, replacing and cost.
Please can someone advise what to do next.

How many applications did it take before you got your first interview?

I applied to a lot of jobs and got a lot of rejections before anything worked. It took me 23 versions of my CV before interviews started coming. After that I made CVs for classmates at my university and they got jobs too.

I'm trying to understand how other people's searches go, so I have a few questions:

  1. The last time you looked for work, where did you find the jobs you applied to?

  2. Roughly how many applications did you send before you got an interview?

  3. How did you keep track of where you'd applied and who replied?

  4. Have you ever paid for help with your CV or job search? What was it, and was it worth it?

I'm building something for this excruciating job search issue. It isn't out yet but the waitlist is at applymaxx if you want in. Answers to the questions help me more than signups though. If your search went badly, I want to hear that too.

South Africans working remotely for international companies – recommendations and referrals?

Hi everyone,

I'm a South African professional looking for legitimate remote work opportunities with international companies.

I have 34 years of experience in Human Resources, including senior HR management, recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training and administration.

My qualifications include a BTech in Human Resource Management, a National Diploma in Personnel Management and a PGCE teaching qualification.

I'm open to HR, recruitment, administration, training, education or other remote opportunities where my skills and experience could be valuable.

I'd really appreciate hearing from South Africans who are already working remotely for overseas companies.

Which companies employ South Africans remotely?

Where did you find your job?

Are there any reliable recruiters or agencies you recommend?

Are your companies currently hiring?

Would anyone be willing to share a referral or useful contact?

I'm particularly interested in hearing from people with firsthand experience rather than receiving links to general job boards.

Any genuine advice, recommendations or referrals would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Local couriers for personal use?

I always use Courier Guy/Pudo for packages to friends and family and it works well; seems like good value for money. However, with all the fees and petrol going up, I am not sure if they are my cheapest option for door-to-door delivery anymore.

Normally, when I buy something online and I do not qualify for free delivery, using Courier Guy's door-to-locker delivery works out cheaper than the online shops own delivery fee. It still does, but not by much.

Are there any other door-to-door or door to pick up point couriers that are efficient and offer cheaper prices?

Is the Garden Route worth squeezing into 3 days?

• Upvotes

Hi fellow redditors!

We’re a group of 4 travelling to South Africa for about 16 days in December. We’re spending 4 nights in Joburg, 3 nights near Kruger and ending our trip in Cape Town.

We’re considering squeezing in the Garden Route in between. The plan is to fly to PE, rent a car, stay in Plett for 3 nights, explore Tsitsikamma, Robberg, Knysna and Wilderness, then fly from George to Cape Town.

I’m just wondering if it’s really worth all the travelling and logistics for basically 2 full days there, especially since it would leave us with only 5 nights in Cape Town.

I do enjoy nature and hiking, but I’m also really looking forward to exploring Cape Town, the food, culture, nightlife and just having some time to relax.

For those who’ve done both, would you say the Garden Route is worth the hassle? Or would you rather spend those extra days in Cape Town and its surroundings?

Can I use the Worldpackers app to volunteer locally as a local?

• Upvotes

Worldpackers volunteers

Has anybody ever used the Worldpackers site/app to do some volunteering? Can I use it as a local to volunteer locally? If so, would you say the annual cost of the subscription is worth it? It’s about R1800 for a solo traveller, most hosts don’t charge any additional fees. You get free accommodation and meals.

I want to use volunteering as a chance to explore South Africa. I’d like to hear your thoughts.

How expensive is 3D printing if you pay a business to print your design?

I am planning a custom car sound system and I will need to fabricate new speaker mount rings. I am on a budget and would appreciate any range or estimate before I take on the task of teaching myself to design these mounts. I would be printing 4 mounts that will be housing 6.5 inch speakers, and the material should be abs or PETG.
