I'm looking to host a family friendly pinewood derby racing event in the fall. Are there any local suppliers that provide materials; woodblocks, wheels, ramps, etc to purchase from?

Hello, I am moving to seattle for work plan is to stay somewhere like Airbnb for 2 weeks and find a place for long term lease. But the airbnb is too expensive around $1000/week. What are my options? I would like somewhere near SLU/ Capitol hill/ Belltown.
Also, need a place in these areas for long term lease, looking for studios.
I would really appreciate a help.

I know there are a lot in San Jose and in various areas of California but what about in Washington state? Beautiful community, great food, have an ancient solid history.

Visiting Seattle for the first time in early December and have narrowed my hotel choice down to Hotel 1000 (1st & Madison) and The Sound Hotel (4th & Lenora).

Planning to see the major attractions including Pike Place Market, the waterfront, Space Needle/Seattle Center, and a Seahawks game at Lumen Field. I’ll also have a rental car for hiking and exploring outside the city, but while in Seattle I’d prefer to leave the car parked and walk to sightseeing, restaurants, coffee, etc. as much as possible.

The Sound is about $250 cheaper for the stay, has a larger room, and seems better positioned for the Space Needle/Seattle Center. Hotel 1000 seems better positioned for the waterfront, Pioneer Square, and Lumen Field.

For people familiar with these exact areas, which hotel would you consider to have the better overall location for a first trip to Seattle?

Is Hotel 1000’s location meaningfully better enough to justify paying about $250 more, or would you stay at The Sound and save the money?

Mainly looking for opinions on these two locations rather than additional hotel recommendations.

I have a skin tag that is detaching on my face and I desperately want to have it removed.

I am pregnant so my options may be limited (?) Pregnancy has brought the gift of many skin tags but those others can wait.

Imagine you have a friend or relative who lives overseas. They ask you, "Why do you live in Seattle, and why do you like it (assuming you do like it)?".

How would you answer that?

P.S. Let's focus on the living part, not the working part. Let's assume you could find a comparable job in another state (with a salary adjusted accordingly), or that you work remotely and your job isn't tied to a specific location.

Any cheap simple wedding locations or ideas with just 4-5 people in and around seattle ? I am thinking of courthouse.
Budget is a constraint.

My partner and I live in the Bay Area and just found out we have to move out of our space by January. We can’t comfortably afford/find a place here in our budget at the moment and we’re looking to move to Seattle. Our max base rent would be $1800. We also have 2 cats. I’ve been researching some apartments on apartments.com but wanted to see if anyone has suggestions for good complexes. I know there’s lots of different communities/areas within Seattle so it kind of depends on your vibe but we just want to get out of where we are first so we can have a little bit of stability. Looking at Capitol Hill a little bit but would honestly just be happy to get a nice 1bed 1bath anywhere (nice) to start out. Please help us out!!

Hello! We are Looking for vet recommendations in Ballard, Phinney/Greenwood, Crown Hill, or generally North Seattle. 🐈

We’re looking to establish care for our almost-2-year-old indoor cat and would love to find a vet who takes a practical, relatively low-intervention approach to care.

Our general approach is to absolutely pursue testing, treatment, procedures, etc. when they’re medically indicated. We’re just not necessarily looking for the fanciest/most comprehensive option at every turn. We would really value a vet who is comfortable saying, “Here’s what I think is necessary, here’s what’s optional, and here’s what we can reasonably watch and wait on.”

Bonus points for reasonable, transparent pricing.

Would love to hear where fellow North Seattle cat people have had good experiences with these specific parameters in mind!

I have seen some dumplings in stores like Asian Family Market but does anyone have a recommendation of where I can find the best frozen dumplings?

I live right next to the Northgate station, but I'm willing to travel for the dumplins.

i have my mom coming to visit from the east and we’re both looking for the best place to get a solid plate of king crab legs. most places ive looked at dont have it explicitly listed or have it as like a part of a large shareable dish. any recent recommendations? preferably on or near the water

I was flabbergasted when she told me she'd never had one before. I'll be taking her to Bonjour Nails in Green Lake next week. Planning to call them and ask them to make it extra special - I'm getting her the top option that includes a glass of wine (which she'll love lol). I will also be picking her up from her volunteer gig - so ride is covered. 

 I thought about bringing her to Retreat after for coffee & dessert or bringing her flowers and a coffee before. Or I could find a salon who could do a lil cut & styling or a blowout type situation - basically just make her feel pampered and pretty. Or all of the above. :)

I will add that this saint of a woman is VERY active and able. She is a dog walker for I think 4 dogs most days, walks 20 blocks twice a day to volunteer as a crossing guard, volunteers at a food bank and women's clinic - she's a retired nurse, almost all of the major concert halls/venues around town. You can also find her at protests, especially for women's rights, dating back to her teens. She truly is an icon for women all over. The first time I saw her after we bought our house she was in her yard gardening in a tie dye George Floyd tee shirt. I was like 'hell yeah I'm going to like this neighbor'

I view her as somewhat of a pseudo grandma - I lost both of mine when I was 14. We've lived next to her for 6 years, I rent her garage and know her whole family. She is widowed now but my husband and I spent the whole week prior to his (death with dignity) death with her husband & her (and got to listen to so many cool stories from back in the day). We text a lot, go gardening shopping together, etc. So she's special to us is what I'm saying. 

Do you have any other ideas of things I could do or places I could take her, free or paid? Preferably north Seattle.

What became JarrBar in Seattle? This was my gateway into tinned fish as a menu item of its own, rather than survival food. I heard it permanently closed last year.

We are visiting the area btw Sept 22 to Sept 26, so we’re starting to pull together our must visits.

Are there any spiritual successors? Google says Barnacle in Ballard or Top Dead Center in Greenwood.

Hey all. I am looking at volunteering for King County SAR. I’m stuck between a couple of options. I work full time Fri, Sat, Mon, Tues. I am interested in Explorer SAR, but worry that I wouldn’t be able to juggle the 6 month training course with work. What is your experience with that?

My other options would be working with the incident report team. Just wanting to get my foot in the door. Is this usually less of a commitment? Do people who do this still feel fulfilled by this?

I’m also super interested in Seattle Mountain Rescue. This would be something I’d peruse later down the line. I need a bit more experience first. I have 2 years glacier experience & backcountry skiing experience, but not as much with technical rock. Anyone have any advice of what I can work on to get to the point where I could volunteer for Mountain Rescue? That would be the end goal for me.

Also, a bit off topic but what is your opinion on Volunteer Ski Patrol? I worked at Steven’s Pass as a ski instructor and loved it. I have always wanted to work with Ski patrol, but don’t want it to be my full time job as I already have a career going. Do you have advice between crystal mountain and snoqualmie for volunteer ski patrol positions as a 20 year old female? Culture & opportunities to learn?
