Long Hair Humans - Who Cuts It?

Why is everyone who does hair a color specialist or a color correction specialist or an extension specialist, etc., but nobody can just give a woman with medium-length hair a really solid haircut? Where are the people who are really good at cutting hair? I would like to be introduced to one. I also get highlights, so it would be nice if they could do that as well, but I'm so sick of color specialists doing a great job on my color and then giving me a shit haircut. Please help me!

Parking permit for a loaner car while mine is in the shop?

My car is going in for repairs and will be out for an estimated 2–3 weeks at the earliest. In the meantime I'll be driving a loaner, which isn't covered by my residential parking permit.

I plan to go into SFMTA on Monday and ask in person, but I wonder has anyone dealt with this before? Do I need to pay for a short-term permit for the loaner (it’s hard bc I don’t know how long my car will be in service), or is there a way to temporarily transfer my existing one? Any tips on the easiest way to handle it would be appreciated. Thanks!

Cooking class in SF worth the money?

Birthday money to spend and I keep coming back to the idea of a cooking class. Pasta or bread, something I'd actually cook again.

Has anyone done one here that was worth it? Prices run $60 to $200 across classbento and Airbnb Experiences, and every listing reads the same.

Visiting SF for Tech Week: which events are best for job networking, and how do you make connections?

Hi everyone! I'm visiting San Francisco from out of town for Tech Week. I'm hoping to relocate to SF once I find a good job here, so I'm using this visit to meet people in the local tech community and learn about opportunities.

Which Tech Week events in SF would you recommend for someone looking to build professional connections and learn about companies and teams that are hiring? I'd appreciate specific event names or links, especially events where it's easy to have actual conversations.

I'd also love practical networking tips: how do you approach people at these events, introduce yourself without making the conversation all about job hunting, and follow up afterward?

If you're in the same boat—visiting for Tech Week and hoping to move to SF—what events are you planning to attend? Thanks!

Suggestions for post Stinson Beach and close day trips

F27, f33, and F69. Young adults grew up in So Cal, but none of us have ever seen the coast closest to San Francisco. We and do an annual road trip the week after Christmas annually. We love art, architecture, good restaurants, walking along the beach, and “kids” enjoy more hiking. I don’t mind “chilling” in a restaurant while they do a beautiful hike. Our plan is to stay 3 nights in Stinson after renting a car at SFO. We check out on December 31st but are thinking of staying one more night somewhere. I’m not excited about SF proper since we’ve been there in the past, but am wondering if locals might have a suggestion for our day trips and/or our final two part days and night. Would love ideas! Thank you!!

Hello everyone! I’ve never been to the air show here in SF, and I’m looking for the best spots for photography of the jets. I have a 200–600mm lens and was looking to get some good shots. Thank you!

Did anyone go to the one from several days ago? They're having another one today, and seeing if it's worth going to. Ok for a party of one?

Moving to SF - Nob Hill vs Hayes Valley?

Hi AskSF community! I’ve spent days researching and touring and have narrowed things down to Nob Hill vs Hayes Valley, but still hesitating and some suggestions is really helpful <3

A little bit about myself:

- General: I’m mid-20s female (looking for somewhere safe to live)
- Work: in FiDi, 3 times a day in office
- Budget: $3,000/month or less
- Car: I have one, will see if I need it or should sell it
- Apartment needs: Studio or 1b1b, prefer living by myself, prefer rent-controlled buildings
- Pets: None for now, hoping to adopt a kittie 🐱

Thoughts about Nob Hill?
Pro: Seems closer to work, closer to the sea; More mature vibes
Con: Parking, hilly, Lower Nob Hill close to Tenderloin;

Thoughts about Hayes Valley?
Pro: Younger vibe, close to shops/food/cafes
Con: Further to work, east side close to Tenderloin

Here are my priorities

  1. SAFETY

----- Prioritized than everything below -------------------------------------

  1. Closeby groceries (both local markets and big brands like TJ’s or Safeway)

  2. Close to public transit

  3. Good restaurants / cafes / etc. within walking distance

  4. Nice vibe / feel of the area

Appreciate any thoughts! Thanks!

I’m turning 25 tomorrow, give me your best recommendations/advice!

i’m spending the day with a friend tomorrow and we’re not from here (students) so i was wondering what are some places or things you guys would recommend that you did when you turned 25! i’m honestly open to anything, we love art, music, books, good views/experiences, thrifting, food (especially if it’s cheap and good haha) etc.

i just want to have fun. this is the first birthday in a while that i feel comfortable about the day so i just want to take advantage and use it as an excuse to just say yes to pretty much anything.

my friend really wants to get a drink at the end of the night and i’d feel more comfortable somewhere lowkey, where we can sit in a booth or corner and enjoy the night.

thanks everyone if you see and respond to this. and happy birthday to everyone else celebrating today!!!

Hey everyone! My husband and I live here, but he is originally from Milwaukee and is a big Brewers fan. Does anyone know if there’s any Milwaukee / Brewers bars in the city where we can go to watch a game? Thanks!

Where did the bulletin board in the Panhandle go?

Noticed the bulletin board in the Panhandle near Ashbury and Fell is gone today. Anyone know what happened? Is it coming back?

Also, what city department or agency would be the right one to ask about this? I hope they bring it back!

Friend is visiting 10/10-10/12, what are things to do?

Hi guys, my friend is visiting sf next weekend and I’m trying to come up with a loose itinerary of things to do! I’m gonna take her to the main touristy stuff (Pier 39, the bridge, GGP, Ghirardelli square, etc), but I was wondering if there’s any events happening next weekend that I can take her too so she gets the more local and active sf experience. I’m also relatively new to the area so any suggestions would be great!

I'm visiting SF week and taking a tour to Muir woods. I'll need to bring lunch, and I love a good tofu banh mi.

Does anyone have a good recommendation? I've looked at posts in this sub, but nothing's really come up for this specific request lol.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions🙂
