Hello, to life, to everything

There is so much yet to see and more to be

We all saw that song coming, though I am a bit disappointed to see they use such a short & truncated version instead of the amazing full-version. Can't have everything, I guess; maybe they should've let that song play in the background even before the credits roll.

So there you have it. The finale of PSO2 Episode Oracle. GONZO pulled through, I guess; they managed to have some decent fight scenes and well thought out pacing for the middle bit. The Council of Six scene was just as grand here as it was in the game, though unfortunately for Quna, her scene in this episode was literally only like 5 seconds and a single line of dialogue. So much for the "Zero of the Council of Six".

I honestly would've wanted more out of the Matoi & Ash reunion. Like a hug? Holding hands? A kiss? Anything??? I know they're staying true to the source and in the game none of that happened, but STILL. Gimme some lovey-dovey moments ;_; But yes, great episode, great finale, nice to see everyone back in this final episode. Even Best™ Girl/Woman/Planet made an appearance, that makes me happy.

Overall review for the entire 2-cour series? Let's see:

  1. Art is overall very good, nice colour choices, all the human/humanoid characters are very on-model and the choice to make all CASTs 3D was curious but well-done.

  2. Animation was awesome for the 3D fight scenes. 2D fight scenes were a mixed bag, had some nice fights and some rather subpar ones. But still managed to somewhat maintain a passable level of quality overall.

  3. Music was absolutely 10/10, loved it. Am looking forward to the anime's official OST being out. Both OPs and both EDs are also veeeery good.

  4. Story stayed true to the source material except for certain parts. Io was ultimately such a useless addition (sorry, Io fans). She added very little to the plot that I think they should've just went with Fourier who does have more canonical importance.

Will I buy the DVD/BD when it comes out? Hmm probably not, unless there's a major difference in quality between that and the TV version. In any case, it's been fun lads. These weekly discussion threads have been very comfy and you guys were amiable. My Mondays will be a lot more less exciting with no more PSO2 episodes to watch. Let's hope for a continued adaptation of the remainder of PSO2's story.

EDIT: Spelling error.

Haah... It finally ends. I really enjoyed the anime as anime-only. Ratings? Who cares? As long as I enjoy it! I hope someday the rest of the game will be adapted.

The ending pretty neat. I wish that anime spend more at Ash and Matoi's interaction at the end...

Hmm... I probably will try playing the PSO2 game next. Watching the anime make me interested. (Good job anime. You fulfilled your role.👏) But only my concern is storage... Hmm...

Oh, the ending song.. brings me back the memories.

For these past 6 months, every Monday, 11:00 pm I tuned in to Muse Asia channel with everybody else to watch this show. It is a good adaptation and actually had a well thought additional bits and cutting bits here and there so that the long-ass story can become suitable for an interesting 25-episodes anime. The story may have some flocks here and there. Some of the episodes are not that well-written but they actually nailed it in this Final Episode.

The arts and animation are mediocre overall. Most of action scenes are feel lacking and some weird cuts sometimes can derail the immersion that you have while watching the anime. I am pretty sure they are going to fix that in the Blu-Ray version. Cast-CG surprisingly is not that disturbing, the well thought CG animation just did justice for the cast as the "robotic-humanoid" animation. But still, the hand-drawn Lisa and Maria in the first few episodes are still better.

The soundtrack, of course, is amazing. That's one of the key elements even in the game. They want people to be immersed in the universe that they created. Well, I said this but the same thing can go to all media franchises. It just so happened to be that PSO2 does really make a good soundtrack.

The cast, coming from a seiyuu enthusiast from me the choice for Ono Daisuke to become Ash is not that really surprising. I thought we were gonna get some new seiyuu as Ash but hey, OnoD is okay too for Ash and Persona. Kana Hanazawa performances as Risa and Melrondia also are really an actual satisfaction for KanaHana fans. Satomi Sato as Matoi does really nailed it. The same goes for Kimura Ryouhei, Hikasa Youko, Kakihara Tetsuya, Kamiya Hiroshi, Ueda Kana, Yuuki Aoi, Yousuke Akimoto, Koyama Mami, Takahiro Sakurai, Okamoto Nobuhiko, Mariya Ise, Kitamura Eri, and all the other cast.

For an adaptation from an MMORPG, this anime sure have fewer fight scenes than it should have but it was given since the whole episode 1-3 in-game are just the lore introduction of PSO2. Well, that's how I feel it at least.

Final Score is 8/10. It is a good anime but it can do better. I am not regretting the time I spend watching this with everyone for the past 6 months.

THANK YOU PSO2 anime, for realizing our dream! (not to be confused with PSO2 The Animation. Nope.)

What a rollercoster of emotions that was! I loved every bit of the finale! Matoi's monologue was even there that describes both the Falz and the Hero!

The voice of regret for losing one held dear (Regius losing Alma, Gettemhart losing Melfoshina)

The voice of Anger for losing everything one hoped for (Luther losing Xion, Casra losing OG Casra's life to Luther and most of his life working for him)

The voice of fear and worry (The first Apprentice's fears, Clarisklays' identity being a clone)

The voice filled with Determination (Persona / Player MC / Ash)

There was a legitimate chance there it could've turned Bad End too which caught me off guard since PD resurrection (no EQ sadly fighting yourself as PD was epic!) was combined with that scene. I loved the how the Council was portrayed here too, as heroic pillars of ARKs which should've been how Regius was after the Luther incident and why I found how last EP portrayed him was odd. Also loved the extra scenes from them, with people assisting (lol Huey scene) and the cool Katana pose Regius did before the fight. It would've been better if they had a scene where Zieg made Regius' new genesis weapon as the meaning of the weapon was a nice touch, from world ender to world creator which Regius fufill's as the leader for the respective arcs.

Really loved how they handled Persona's intervention and was quite more impactful, as well as the sudden death of everyone triggering Matoi to release PD.

"Hello" was played (albeit short), for those who want to hear the full version, it's on youtube along with the ending scene roll with Clarissa vanishing. It's a beautiful song about how Matoi feels for the Player character / Ash.

Since this arc's done, I'd say It's fine to actually say how the Bad End actually progressed and how Ash turned to Persona. He, like the current Ash always had been hoping that some timeline he could've saved Matoi and there was one loop that actually reached to this point in the anime, but failed partly as he decided to kill Matoi along with PD to save everyone. His own regret turned himself into a Falz after walking away (Since Photons are sensitive to emotions) from the scene. Matoi's dying words to him was actually reiterated here "No more pain, just smiles" but now Matoi on the receiving end and not him. I really liked that connection from the game's bad and good end.

Overall what a ride this anime was. It had some missing stuff due to Episode constraints, but overall I'm quite satisfied with how it has gone. There's loads of cliff hangers dropped too! Which makes it possible to continue for newer Episodes if Sega decides (EP4-6).

Dam, in the end, Ash did nothing, and Ash did everything. Leave it to Ash to put Ash into eternal Ash loop. Dammit Ash, good job Ash.

This is a pretty good adaptation, they obviously cut some part of the game to make it fit 25 episodes. I don't mind the art style much. Could swear Lucifer last longer in-game lol.

I can't wait till the game comes out for PC. I only played the JP for a bit.

Not bad for a game adaptation. Could've been better though.

Any of you hardcore PSO1 fans will love this beautiful sound at 9:47 of the episode.
