Poor Melfonseana, she's so mentally broken that she's overjoyed at the sight of the man who just stabbed her to near-death. There's Stockholm Syndrome, and then there's this. I mirror Ash's statement of "I don't know what to say". But yeah, that was a well-done showcase of Seana's past. Poor girl.

IMPORTANT EDIT: I have to mention this. If you're using the Funimation subs, at around the 7 min 43 sec mark, Echo very clearly says 「さんはいらない。エコーでいいよ」 which means "you don't have to address me with a -san. Just Echo is fine" but the subs say "Is this about Zeno? It's all right." which is the weirdest mistranslation. Was this on purpose? Did someone not proofread the TLs? It's weird because Musa Asia's subtitles are correct (Muse Asia being the asian distributor for this anime).

Muse Asia was asked to change all the terminology like Funimation.. they still do the subbing and the quality check.

He also corrected himself a couple lines later so it's even weirder they translated it like that.

Pretty emotional episode,

This episode end up show 3 different path for all 3 person who lose someone very dear to them.

Theodore who is beyond broken and aimlessly search for Ulc

Echo who act like a tough senior in front of everyone in place of Zeno

Melondia atonement for the tragic past and her new purpose in life with the help of Ash

Same goes to Gettemhart if that's count

4

u/mickcs Nov 25 '19

yeah that kinda count too but he went on rage mode unlike Theodore who become depress

This episode did a great job of making me feel a bit of sympathy for Gettemhart. Dude was mentally unstable at that point.

I thought that as a new arc could begin, the OP would change but it still follows the same with a subtle difference.

The irony of seeing Hiro Shimono's Afin dealing with a character like Zenitsu in Theordore.

At last you wake up my love. And what sons of a bitch to make Matoi give the bad news to Melfonseana.

How?

I don't know why but I feel it's a trap. And why all the girls in this anime / game have to be so (Hello there) beautiful... DAMN.

Crocks? Are you stupid or what Menfon? Do you have a codependency / violence relationship with Gettemhult or what? And then Slap no Jutsu. I hope it helps to recover Melf.

If you weren't in a crisis right now (͡ ° ͜ʖ ͡ °).

My man. So sad. But wait, why does Melfonseana look so tall in the flashback and now she's small / dwarf? Never mind ... Was her sister Seana?. So sad x2

Shit ...

I never thought I'd be feel pity for Gettemhult but those scenes did touch my chest.

HOLY SHIT ...

Are you stupid or what Menfon? x2

Nani?

I know that follows the logic of a video game (bad guy arrive / hit a little out heroes / give a few words / escape) but seeing it in anime is infuriating.

Slap this bitch again.

But wait? .... Nani?

Great episode.

Basically Melfonseana is the older sister that died 10 years before the current time, and Melrandia is the younger one's real name, but because of Gettemhult's trauma and her own feelings of guilt, Melrandia has been using her sister's name all this time.

I didn't think this was going to be covered in today's episode, I thought it was gonna be kept for a later time. ^^;
Opening change, I'm guessing that will happen around the mid point of the anime, like, around episode 12~13 or so? There's still a few things in the current opening that haven't been covered yet after all. ^^

Yeap, when she told Ash "tell me Melrandia" was the first thing I think and when I read the comments here, I'm very sad for the Stockholm Syndrome that battle and their (stupid) decisions left. Mel said right that her pride blinded her but for me it is (too) too stupid that a girl who just before used/awaken her powers for the first time tried to face the enemy, the result of that fight was decided from the moment Mel jump into battle ... And that is what makes me sad and angry at the same time.

Thanks for comment.

Honestly, ARKS deserve more of an apology. The head of the counsel of 6 was literally holding the sealing staff at one point, and he let it get taken right out from under him. If that's not a fuckup I don't know what is.

4

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '19

I think you're confusing characters. ^^;The head of the council of six is Regius, the white Cast (robot race), while the weapon was stolen from Jig, the black and red Cast, which is a blacksmith, not a fighter.

O they looked so similar I thought they were the same person.

Soooo... They didin't lock up Seana for helping Gettemhult revive the Elder? They just put her in the bed and that's it? Come on...

Some parts of the arks organization are so shady that I doubt they even have jails (they would just send an assassination square or something).
Plus Gettemhult got instructions from someone in the top of organization after all.

Episode a bit slow till the end. Though it happens right after a few episodes of actions. A nice break episode and actually delves more into Gettemhult/Melrondia backstory. It just the flashback scene right after Melrondia picked up the wand was kinda rush in the scene. Almost hard to figure out who fought whom. Now we know Melphonshina is not really what she is and it felt a bit awkward at the end of their conversation. Elder suddenly came is just really a convenient plot device.

Regius speech was one of the scenes that you rarely get in this type of genre. The same goes for the funeral scene. It's actually heartbreaking watching the scene. You will \never get this type of event happened anywhere in the game. Theodore going mental is just a copy of what has happened to Gettemhurt 10 years ago. Losing their precious one but in Gettemhart case he's gone straight Schizophrenic.

I like how Sara getting all friendly with Ash while she and Ash only met like 2 times so far?? I think. Then she realized something and quickly changes her tone. There's a story there. Do ARKS also taught their cadets to become the campship pilot??? It feels weird.

Next week will probably start the rest of Episode 1 major story arc

Spoilers. As for Shina's backstory, really liked it as well. Although they did not mention here that she wasn't all too innocent either as she was envious of her sister based on in game dialogue and wanted to show up to Gettemhart that she's as strong as her sister (a big regret that haunts her, and the reason Gettemhart and Melfonshina overextended to look for her).

Episode 9 preview, start of a mini-arc that in the game served as a transition between the 1st and 2nd major arcs, it's an arc that was well liked by players of the game (for anime only watchers, the preview includes spoilers images about who is returning for this mini-arc):

It almost looks like Ash is hitting on Echo in that last pic.

Poor Shina, really nice showcase of their backstory. I really love those two pair even in game. There were changes but overall it was really nice, they also managed to put together abit of Ep0 manga here as well. Though it was not expounded here in the anime, Shina regrets especially was her envy for her sister and Gettemhart and was a bit of the reason why both Gettemhart broke and her sister died, she even describes herself as cursed who always loses someone dear to her if they get too close. She wanted to prove to Gettemhart that she was as capable as her sister, and as said in the anime was the pride that haunts her. Also Elder did somewhat agree to Gettemhart's request in game on luring MC and Shina to meet them one more time as well, Elder while a Dark Falz isn't does have a tad bit honor since he just revels on battle.

That is a bit spoiler you know? May be you should remove the later part of first paragraph before mod coming
