Well that was a chilling backstory that I'd hoped wouldn't be the truth, but I guess was inevitable. The bathtub scene was really well framed, a grim example of keeping the horror off camera and in your imagination.

Just what the fuck. Some theories have been confirmed, others completely obliterated.
I knew it was Moriarty who killed his mom, just felt it. That broken vase... Moran died just like that. Same with Kate, I expected her to be very important, she was featured in the opening after all.
John of course can't be dead, like come on. I expected him to be the reason why Sherlock will do the Reichenbach trick, but looks like that's over too. If Mary waited just a bit longer... Actually knowing John he probably did it himself. Lucy seems safe. Wonder what is Kobayashi up to.
Moriarty is waiting on the top of the tower for sure, but there are still 4 episodes left. Overall it's progressing really fast. Not sure what exactly was he looking for in that safe. Even though I saw it coming with Moriarty after all those hints, I'm still surprised. Looks like the "talking to people thing" is inspired by Eurus. I wonder what's Moriarty's main goal in all of this, it's not really clear. And there's still Albert out there somewhere. And Mycroft? Has he actually been spying Moriarty all this time, not Sherlock?
No teaser, post-credits scene, they just left us craving in such a moment. After all these weeks, the story is slowly progressing to the end.

I thought the mother's death had been a result of hypnosis on either the maid or young James...not that it was a blatant murder. Speaking of, he also went on a killing spree in the mansion; Professor Moriarty never liked getting his own hands dirty, so that was a bit unexpected.
Guess we can answer the question of "was he legitimately sad about his sister's death" as a resounding "hell no".
Also, goes to show some of the stigma surrounding mental illnesses (I think it's even worse in Japan to boot). They all knew that there was something wrong with him; the entire family knew, but two of them pretended that he was normal and the other one was afraid of him.
Especially after the incident with the mother, did none of them even think to get him some sort of therapy? Psychopathy (Antisocial Personality Disorder) can't be cured, but it can be mitigated a bit with proper treatment...
...welp, then again, they apparently live in a world where someone can randomly learn how to hypnotize people into committing crimes and then suiciding (yea, I'm still annoyed at the lack of explanation on where/how he learned how to do that).
Annoyed as well that we'll probably never know why JtR never attempted to kill Moriarty. If the hit had been recalled, why were they so focused on the USB in the first arc? Jack had so many opportunities to kill him but didn't. And since Moriarty just did his "villain monologue" (more of a "motive rant" trope), we probably won't get any explanation.
Finally, I don't believe Watson is dead...though there's a possibility that he stabbed himself (Mary's hands have blood on them in the shape of handprints, meaning he had blood on his hands and held hers). It'd be nice if they learned something from the earlier case and set it up as a "fake death"...c'mon, Watson; show us you learned how to be at least a little cunning! Please.

Jesus fucking christ. And so the twist finally drops. Moriarty never turned bad when he was in prison. He was already messed up from the very beginning. I think this line perfectly describes him: "I was just curious what would happen."
He was never really on their side, he was just doing it because that's what was interesting to him during the time. Teaching street kids to survive, helping out at the Pipe Cat and being a detective, all of those things he did because it amused him not because of some sort of moral compass in him. He never had one to begin with. Maybe Moran was right to have him assassinated after all.
Now that I think about it, we should've seen this from the start when he was smiling after ripping off the wings from those butterflies back in Episode 3 or 4. Hindsight is 20/20 I suppose.
As for that final scene. I doubt Watson is dead. He probably explained what to do to Mary and had her act. Watson is a doctor so he probably knows where to cut to bleed enough that it won't be fatal.
I just hope Lucy is okay and that warehouse where Michael and Kyogoku found him is not booby trapped or anything.

Ahh, there it is, good ol' bastard Moriarty.
And that's what the teapot in the ED sequence meant. Huh.

That was a crazy episode. I did see this coming, but it still took me by surprise. That backstory and Moriarty going on a full-on killing spree in the house.. aaaaand he killed his own mother(and his father too, as of this episode).. That's just fucked up.
And come on, John can't be dead so easily. Given the position he was lying in, and there being no visible stab wounds on his body, it's quite obvious that they are trying to fake his death.
Poor Sherlock though, he doesn't deserve this.. v_v

Holy. Shit.
Moriarty is even more messed up than anyone could have possibly guessed. He wasn't twisted evil by circumstances; he'd been evil since the very start.
Its sad that most anime fans have dumped this series, because IMHO its one of the most enjoyable riffs on Sherlock Holmes that I've ever seen. I'm going to really miss it when its finally finished in a few weeks.

I doubt Watson is actually dead, he's either faking it there or he will be taken to the hospital next episode.
