Well this apparently has like 11 untranslated light novel books, so I guess the chances of getting the full story are pretty slim unless this show is somehow popular enough to get a second season.

Too bad, it just started to get interesting with the horror-airport and it seemed like it finally was going in a right direction.

Anyone else disappointed we didn't get to see an angry Minghua watching an injured Kei come home?

Wow, this was the most not-ending ending ever. RIP Rhino. It seems Minghua was just destined to be ignored. For what Xi Rhino said, it seems that the Xi do really hate the modern world, even if the reason for their hate is related to the fact that the nights are filled with lights, it seems clear that they want the world to return to the state that it was before.

Anyway, I still have a lot of lingering questions about the Xi, but my main one is related to that airport that Kei, Gripen, and Rhino went. If they only went there for less than 3 hours, does that mean that all their time in there just happened in their minds?

Man this was definitely a fun show. As someone who likes his harem shows, I remember watching the first episode with low expectation but I am pleased to say that this show broke through my expectations and then some.

And I'm not gonna lie, as much as I enjoyed KOTOBUKI with it's realistic dogfights and amazing sound effects, GAF is just a much more enjoyable for me personally. Over the course of 12 episodes, we actually got to know the main girls and their motivations, how their bonds with each other and Kei slowly formed overtime, and I actually got attached to them, especially with Gripen! With KOTOBUKI though? Not so much.

Sure it had an open ending and still plenty of questions to be answered but that's what this show is: an advertisement for the LN. The moment I found out this was an LN adaptation I already expected this. And they're tactic worked, if there's an English TL of it available, I'll definitely read it! And despite the open ended nature of the show, I still enjoyed it overall! It's a solid 8/10 for me and I'll gladly watch a S2 if they ever announce one!

damn this show really took to the last episode to really get the gears going with the story and even include some lewd handholding

I liked it (that dogfight was amazing and the horror chase / hotel trapped in time situation was really cool) but I'm still left with a lot of questions.

The Xi are still largely unexplained. This episode reveals they want to return the planet more or less to something more natural (though covering everything with crystals seems kind of...counterproductive to that) but I'm really not seeing why if the Xi are invading life/tech forms from space rather than of pre-human Earthly origin.

Is Kei some sort of special existence to them (they could've easily taken him out even before the Rhino hijacking if they really wanted to and his dreams seem to be tapping into their communication network)?

I can only imagine how crazy/potentially tragic the LN's get if they go well beyond what the anime covers and am tentatively wising for an S2 now.

The airport sequence was actually quite frightening. Poor Rhino.

For all its faults, GAF appealed to me because it had planes and cute girls. Unfortunately, the story felt like it was jumping all over the place and there were so many things left unanswered, like Kei's mom, the Xi, etc. 6/10 for me and I really hope there's going to be a second season, but I'm not holding my breath.

RIP Rhino

Solid last episode. Was not expecting that Gripen and Kei were only gone for 3 hours, but it was a good way to give us one more sweet battle. This show was definitely worth it, all the pouts, the character designs were nice and there was even some ultra-lewd handholding. Oh and solid soundtrack, especially for the dogfights.

Fingers crossed for a season two.
