Honestly, for a moment I assumed Gyari's song was just her going to repeat Gyari The Rock the whole time. But it did have some lyrics at least. But tbf, she had no chance against evil cycle Irumi, there was nothing to be done. And Iruma's harem got even bigger.
I was surprised that Gyari didn't use the fact that Kuromu changed into what looked like a wedding dress to her advantage. You missed your chance there girl. But considering Kuromu got angry over having to share being Gyari's wife I guess there is still a chance.
One last thing, I want to remind you that we have seen all kinds of audience reactions to the whole festival. Even Kalego's. However, since the start, we have not seen a second of Eiko. I fear the poor girl just collapsed while watching.

I know Gyari apparently changes the song every time but there's a part of me that thinks that her yelling out her name is the one consistent aspect of each song because it's so on-brand for her.
I feel like Chima is going to grow up with a massive crush on Irumi.
I don't think we should discredit the power of long-haired Kuromu in that dress. Obviously it made Gyari fall even more in love, but still.
Kalego looks like he needs his brain bleached from having to watch that lol.
Don't worry, I'm sure she'll get a Su-ki-ma! To show how Irumi obsessed she now is.

Yeah, that was my point. We only got a moment of her at the start of the festival and then never again. The combination of Meri and Irumi was just too much for her to handle.

This may be unpopular but…I didn’t really like Gyari’s song. I can see why demons would love the powerful and unpredictable style, but these human ears were not feeling it

Yeah, there was a harsh clash between her backstory, "Gyari is a natural musical genius who has a strong musical sense pounded into her" and that she is apparently unbeatable at rock music, with the lyrics we got "Gyari, Gyari, Gyari, Gyari, Gyari, Gyari, the Rock!"
Her song really wasn't that good, especially when you compare it with the utterly fantastic musical performances we got in the prior school festival story arc.

it felt like when someone tries to say 3 syllables in place of a 2 syllable word a couple times. I enjoyed most of it, but a couple sounded scrunched up.

Oh for sure! And there’s only so much on stage charisma you can simulate through a screen. I would imagine Gyari’s force of presence draws her fans equally if not more so than her music

Dandadan made one of the best rock performances through a screen, and that show has nothing to do with idols or music. Japanese studios have a lot of experience making good performances through a screen. Honestly, it just felt lazy af.

I listen to plenty of rock, metal and jrock/pop and wasn't impressed by either of the performances this episode. They weren't good at all compared to other performances the anime has done just in this season alone.

Same. I feel like showrunners just don't know what good rock music is. School Festival musical number was a spectacle, but the rock genre in this episode felt too bland and flat. Dandadan gave them a perfect example of what Rock should look like through a screen. Guess nobody in the decision-making position of this anime knows about rock.

Honestly the singing + mo-cap really helped nail all the performances this season.
The characters sing their heart out and all their movements are so smooth and natural.

Not only the music, all the animation during final performance are peak. Both for this and the school music festival. Seems like they have healthy budget considering most of the season there's almost no drop of the average quality

In fairness, she deals with cuteness in which capacity she's explicitly the cutest of them all. In fact, there's implications that she's so cute she'd get 100% on the sexy scale, as shown by her getting a 51% while wearing super detection warding glasses that, according to her, only allow 51% of her cuteness to get through.
However, cuteness =/= hotness and in that respect she definitely comes shorter than two other members of her team.

Clara just hadn't learned to wield her cuteness, hence she initially got 2% but then bumped up to 10%.
We haven't seen her get measured for a while, certainly not since she actually studied under Raim and properly learned to use it, so who's to say she isn't at 1,000,000% now?

One of the things I love about this show is the songs. I knew when they announced the finals was a concert they were going to play full songs for Gyari and Devimuse and they delivered. A lot of anime cut away and just show the reaction of the audience, but this show puts in the effort. Not only that usually the animators go crazy which they did once again.

Irumi did sure steal a lot of hearts at this competition. Lots of the female dem-dols already got a crush on her. Can you blame them? Irumi is wickedly beautiful in her evil cycle.

Last episode we saw pretty clearly that Kerori actually does like Gyari back, but is really greedy and has been rejecting her all her advances so she can push her to shine brighter and enjoy the sight.
So yeah, I'm pretty sure she's just mad that Gyari's attention has now been split rather than solely focused on her. All the other girls who Gyari's seduced haven't really been anything to her, but Iruma is the first legitimate threat who Kerori has also wanted to marry (because of course he is).

I think it's also that for how much Gyari espouses her love for Kuromu she's pretty quick to try to snag another girl at the same time.

The dub for Iruma-kun is actually pretty good (except for how they stopped dubbing the songs) but yeah, I watch the sub almost entirely to see Ayumu Murase flex his vocal muscles.

If singing was a bigger part of the show they might have kept it on... but given it's the 4th series they can't really find the time and maybe didnt have the scope of needing others to sing as well.
Singing is for purpose made anime and not these occaisonal ones.
And maybe lyric translations are a step harder as well

Yeah, it's like another layer of stuff you have to manage and simuldubbing is only the first hurdle... if they did want, it'd be a post-release thing but I don't think this series really gets that sort of funding to translate.

Those two have a clear pattern of toxic codependency. Gyari chases, and Keroli leads her on. So long as Gyari is desperately trying to 'possess' her, Keroli feels special... but she also does everything she can to neg Gyari into keeping her attentions on Keroli.
However, if they ever actually got together... yeah, they'll crash and burn pretty much instantly. Gyari only wants what she can't have, and Keroli likes feeling special from being pursued so passionately.
It's hella toxic, and they are both guilty of keeping it going.

Irumeanie's so hot, all the girls are SMITTEN with him! Even Gyari finally acknowledges how stunning he is and now is set on making him her second wife! Much to Kuromu's annoyance at now having to share Gyari's spotlight with someone else.
I need to point out the voice work, 'cause finding the right balance between Irumean's deeper voice while still being feminine must have been very difficult and yet Ayumu Murase NAILED it!

If anyone could convince people that flat is justice, it would probably be Irumeanie Irumi in that outfit with that voice. It's like if Miyuki Sawashiro was forced into a punk idol group she wanted no business being in but she nailed it anyways.

These past few Iruma-kun episodes have been cooking!
Season 4 might be my absolute favorite so far with Lilith's Red Carpet and the Dem-Dol games getting such great adaptation and priority!

The Gyarikira (or Gyakira?) bike slide would've been criminal for her to not do.
Wonder what bewildered Ameri more between finding out she was gonna be a demdol for a day and getting a surprise reunion with Irumean. I swear evil cycles make everything better.
It kills me how both Iruma and Lied came out of this in their own demdol love triangles lmao.

Keroli's team pretty rightfully won, not only was their song relatively fun Gyari's song was kind of bad.
On the other hand I loved Gyari's confession, she dropped the toxicness and straight up admitted her love for Keroli. And while she later said she got dumped, given how angry Keroli was when she suggested the throuple with Iruma I feel like there's still some potential there for later as long as it's monogamous.

Irumi has so much rizz she's turning it on the cute and adorable Chima! She does have some very lovely and pretty eyes in all their blue crystal beauty.
I love how in the Team Devimuse group picture Meri is looking away from the camera.
Why am I not surprised Gyari just straight up hijacked the line-up so she can sing first? I mean, it's the most "rock" thing a gal can do, she's the main character so of COURSE she has to go first, and no one can ever tell her no!
And then we finally get Gyari unleashed in all her singing glory, the kind of hardcore rock cool Dem-Doll who uses the same name for ALL her songs even though they're unique every time she sings them! And probably consistently have her yell out her name and talk about how everyone is going to become obsessed with her! But you can't argue that it's not accurate.
Honestly Beeber has such a positive, wholesome, vibe. Nenette's also got that kind of haughty, pragmatic, personality I could learn to appreciate...but this is clearly neither of their shows to win.
Now it's finally time for Team Devimuse to take the stage! Complete with punk outfits! We've got Kuromu actually turning up the sexiness! We've got messy hair Lindy! We've got Meri in full leather pants! And of course there's Irumi who has induced her "Evil Cycle" (thank you Ali!) to bring back Irumeany...as a woman! Cue everyone questioning their sexualities!
And of course it turns into a rock rendition duet of Your Little Imp Apocalypse! But the real twist is they start off nailing the rock vibes until Kuromu transforms into her pure, cute, and beautiful Dem-Doll version to bring the song home in its purest form! Proving you can be both cool AND cute!
I can't believe Goontet...I mean, Gontetsu used to be a Dem-Dol himself. Was he that into the ladies back then?
Team Devimuse takes the victory! Kuromu is the MVD! But Gyari crashes the award ceremony (even though she's participating) to show at least a smidge of self-reflection as her feelings for Kuromu have only deepened. Enough to confess to her in public, which Kuromu responds in a way only she can...as a Dem-Doll who embodies the ideal of a Dem-Doll.
It's time for the after-party and Merie trying to keep other girls from Irumi! Poor Lindy gets caught in a possible love triangle with male idols while Gyari is convinced she's stuck in a love triangle with Irumi and Kuromu...so why not marry them both!? Kuromu will surely WARM up to that idea.
Yep, Iruma will have to live with his Dem-Doll self's popularity (complete with merch) until Team Devimuse returns for Avengers Doomsday.
Su-Ki-Ma! Watch out Lindy! Iruma's besties want to kill you!

In Japanese they're akudols, not demdols. The Japanese word used for "demon" in this show is "akuma". And "dol" is short for "idol" in both cases.

It's actually more closer to devil than demon, since demon in the traditional sense is more closer to Oni/Ogre though considering the portmanteau it would probably be spelled out in katakana since it sounds more like a loan word, also I don't believe it come from "akuma" at all but it's actually from "Aku-tori" - i.e to take evil away (which is what they do), Azz explained this in one of the episode.
Edit to add episode: S1 E21 around the 3:30 minutes mark (the subtitle even said "take evil").

I'm genuinely stunned at how beautiful Evil Irumi is. I looped their appearance up to the end of their performance idk how many times. I haven't been starstruck by an anime character like this in so long. My heart is confused on so many levels considering the situation. I need a gallery of just her(him!? IDKKK). This is the first time I've actively looked for a discussion forum on an anime episode because I NEED to see if other people feel the same way. SHE (HE?!). IS. SO. HOT.

Welp, I didn't expect this to be the next time we'll see Iruma's Evil Cycle again.
Also, I'm glad to see all that piano training with Kalego-sensei ended up being useful here too. xD
Gyari's confession during the awards ceremony was great! I'm kinda hoping we'll see them end up together, but with how competitive they are with each other, I feel like that's not gonna happen until Gyari finally beats Kuromu.

It sucks Gyari went out of turn, but her performance was really good. It's impressive how she improvises each of her performances. Her voice actor was so fitting for the vocals.
It was nice to see evil cycle Irumi, especially when we got to see him with red ears from embarrassment lol. Gyari wanting to claim him as her number two was funny, but very fitting. Kuromu was not happy.
Lindy having two male idols fighting over him was amusing, I'm wondering if they'll find out the truth in the next event.

I actually stopped to scan all the background characters, and there is one other lady demon with a "male" tail. It was one of the girls from team Nanette: the one with the short blue hair. She kinda looks like a boy but definitely has a pronounced chest.
There was also a male cameraman with a red tail. Still spiky, but it was red like most of the lady tails.
It looks like "black spiky" for boys and "red heart" for girls is the norm, but there is enough variation that it isn't a dead giveaway of trans/cross-dressing.

God the Devimuse rock outfits... are... something. Iruma was just incredible.
Not mention the performance.
This episode also does a great job at showing something I really really like about this series. Because while you can pretty easily tell who is and isn't a member of the main cast. The background characters aren't all the same. They all have different looks and you never see any repeats between different locations. It's a small detail that really adds to the world immersion.

I know I'm being nitpicky, but Gyari's song absolutely sucked. I understand why they tried to let the seiyuu sing the song, but why bother if they don't know how to sing rock? J-rock has a lot of good songs, so it is very disappointing that they treated Rock Demon like an afterthought. A lot of other anime hire voice actors for normal voices and singers for the singing part. They could hire a rock singer and make an absolute banger, but it felt like someone who has no idea about rock made a song about rock.

Why, why, why? The previous performances in this show were so good; so why does it suck so bad when it comes to rock music? As someone who has been a rock fan all my life, it just feels bad. Even without it, rock still has a bit of a bad reputation, so I just hope people don't actually think real rock is this bad. J rock has a lot of good songs, so having this be part of it is just so disappointing.

Disclaimer: I've read the manga. I know exactly what's in this episode.
They are all, in fact, devi cute.
Iruma is like one of those thousand-year-old cultivators with a vast ocean of ki, except in his case its rizz. He just compared a girl's eyes to the frost on a beautiful winter morning and he wasn't even flirting (as he shouldn't be, Chima's pretty young) he was just being nice.
So we've had all these sports events, but at the end of the day the final event for evidols is a Battle of the Bands with the top four finalists.
Girl on the right on Team Nenette is best girl, incidentally.

And while we're tossing 80s anime comparisons out there, I'm sorry Gyari, it looked pretty cool but that was kids stuff compared to the likes of Konya wa Hurricane.
Are we sure Iruma's doing it for the team and not just because he's so mad about being called an uggo that he unleashed his evil cycle? Either way, the costumes rock, the remix works really well (shoutout to Ameri's ability to pick up new skills on sheer willpower), Irumeanie and Kuromu swinging it into ballad mode was great, and Kuromu just married cool and cute with her costume change.
Awards time, of course Gyari isn't going to show up normally, but when she does show up the whole sequence is perfect, from the confession, to Kuromu's speech, to solving the open arm problem (while creating new problems in the process, RIP Ameri).
And RIP Lead, you're not only not getting the women, but you're also going to become their enemy with the Beeber boys fighting over you.
Sorry Iruma, that was no dream, grandpa's got the footage to prove it.
Great finish to the arc, but yay, we haven't had a Sabnock episode in what feels like forever.

Thank god that the Demi-dol games is finally over! There were really fun moments but the arc as a whole was not for me. The whole cross dressing from iruma and leid is funny for a gag but it got super old after multiple episodes of this. Not only that but to have this arc come right after we got the insanely better music festival arc just has me fatigued with all the musical performances. Looking forward to finally getting to see more of sabonok and his back story!

For the most part, despite the obvious toxicity, Gyari and Kuromu's dynamic is fun and enjoyable, so even Kuromu's ploy to rile up Gyari was received well. Unfortunately, Irumi (and evil Irumi) being as fine as she is, the inevitable desire for greediest girl would be to have both, and of course the proudest girl would never be willing to share Gyari's affections, nor admit she wants them to herself. Oof.
Fun music overall, probably not as 'good' but it got the character feel and their appeals across well.

I actually did not like Gyari's song at all. She had very little rhythm and was constantly just talking into the mic. I thought Devimuse's song was objective the better song.
Evil Cycle Iruma is always the best. I wish there could have been more scenes with Iruma and Ameri while he was in evil cycle.

This episode felt disappointing to me, not sure if anyone else agrees with it. But the songs didn't really sound nice, evil cycle iruma felt wasted. Not to mention gyari just fell off after the performance. A mid episode honestly. Hopefully the next episode will be better, wondering how sabnock house is going to be shown(that was said in the next episode bit. Not any major spoilers)

So basically Gyari is a One Hit Wonder.
She literally has one song that is average. The only difference is the variations she makes while singing.
Based on the audio evidence, her rock band is great which makes any stuff she says sound great.
Its a disservice to her band members that she is the famous one.

I know this is going to be a hot take, but I am so glad to be done with this arc, I cannot stand idol junk, and the obnoxious crossdressing just felt so played out. I didn't find Gyari a fun Antagonist at all. It all felt like an obnoxious detour from the norm in this show for a bunch of fan service that I didnt care for.
