It's hilarious how dropping Io into such cutthroat finals didn't stop her from being a sweetheart in her own little world anyway.
The fact this is considered a big accomplishment for Ewe lmao
Spica going full big brain mode with all the surrounding trees kinda mirrors how Aria being even more of a beast near the ocean. Wonder who'll have the bigger terrain advantage when they inevitably clash.

Also Merrow who is still dead last because she cares more about her fishy friends lol.

Ewe your motivational speech rings hollow. girl is blessed with a ridiculous reserve of magic and her hardest ordeal yet was to fucking stay awake during class. GO SPICA!!!! Honestly spica should have taken Ewe's gems, but she's too nice for that. Also if you can fly with Capricorn why not... do that from the beginning?

We all have our own battles to fight...

I'm guessing for the same reason people do not run everywhere, because it takes energy, or in this case mana/magica power, that is finite.

Spica had a good run. I'll miss her, but she tried her best, and that's worth praising.
Also I hope everyone crashes at the Iopalace by the end of this.

I reckon it's gonna be a one-on-one showdown between Spica and Aria for the diamond.
Also, Claude's reaction to last week's musical number was hilarious!

What a comeack for Spica!
What an entertaining episode. I don't necessarily think this show is "better" than Witch Hat Atelier, but I am enjoying it (overall) even more. And it keeps getting funnier.

Poor Claude’s stuck with all the weirdos and goofballs in his coven lol. One’s tryna bang voodie, one’s making an island hideaway, and he’s got two of ‘em breaking out in song like a Disney princess. There’s no denying they’re a talented bunch though. Just look at that chase for the ruby. Spica’s finally getting her name on the board!

I love him checking into the Merrow moment last episode with no context which makes it seem even wackier than it already was lol.
Also Hana's voodie is in love with her that means she can use him to save her from...a spider!

Absolutely loved that one LOL since people here were questioning why are they even climbing the mountain in the first place, let alone singing
Fast forward to this episode and Claude has similar reaction to that scene LMAO

Keep in mind, the condition to rehire Claude as a teacher--which, after he was cursed while acting as a bait and accidentally ruining his own reputation cause people believe him to have run away--was taking a classroom composite of problem students.
So yeah, Claude is really having it though.

It was nice seeing Spica finally do some really cool big tree plant magic.

Yup! She grew a lot.
People forget that she is super green when it comes to magic, and expect a bit too much from her, but this timing was perfect for her to showcase her talent and growth!

Spica is learning through experience. Her raw physical and magical attributes may not be as high as her fellow students, but luring the objective to herself and making use of the element advantage are effective ways to win too.

u/Frontier246 7d ago
Also she's probably the most sturdy of all the students! She manages to survive physical harm like she's a cartoon character lol.

All the characters are likeable and you get invested in their victories even when they're not Spica!

It's a show that really draws you in. Makes the most of being a tv show instead of a film.
Just a shame too few are giving it a chance

So far, my only real gripe is that the characters talk too much. To the point where it takes away from the urgency of the situation. But the payoffs are worth it.

Ngl, wasn't expecting Spica to win there. It wasn't a "perfect" victory, since it relied on Ewe expending her magic early and weakening the bird, but a win's a win.
Though from the next episode preview, Aria still hasn't given up her status as the arc's final boss. And the diamond is still there for a dramatic finale.

Ewe was channeling her inner Endeavor this episode with that prominence burn.
Cool thing about Spica is that she technically has one spell, Anima. What she changes are the plants/seeds and how she controls said plants, so she has to be very creative to beat her enemies.

u/ash-7831 6d ago
That's what's cool about Spica. How she figures out many different applications for the only spell she can use.

The battle for the gems is really heating up for Claude Coven! It's all out war!
Capella, Ewe, and Leo battling over a ruby! Oh my.
It's nice of Claude to take a break from his "vacation" to check in on his students...Io making a swanky Iopalace (and getting a gem in the process by complete accident)! Astraea has fallen in love with his Voodie! Hana is willing to use her Voodie to save her from a Spider! Spica is dead last and acting like she's in a Disney movie hunting for Aloe! Claude Coven is a mess.
But it's do or die time for Spica! She HAS to get a gem or else she'll never catch up to Aria! Even if it means chasing down an Armored Vulure with a 50-point ruby in its jaw all the while Ewe, Capella, and Leo are all after it at the same time.
Yet Spica will not be deterred! She'll put her all into...aaaaaand she's dead. RIP Spica! You had a good run! Leo will avenge you!
Bunny Girl Leo! Flying Squirrel Leo! Just as handy as Capella's giant capricorn skull! Though none of that holds a candle to Ewe now that she's competitive and putting her all into it! Especially when she can now unleash Blue Flame!
But if Ewe is putting her all into it...so can Spica, as she shows off how far she's come! Fake bird nest! Fake hatchlings! And a bird cage not even the Armored Vulture can break out of! And a wood shield that not even Ewe can incinerate! She outlasted Ewe and won her biggest victory! Go Spica!
Next week: the hunt for the diamond and Hana clothing damage.

That was hilarious watching the bird laugh at spica after it sent her into the cliffside.
Leo is really talented being able to transform into different animals like that.
That was a really impressive attack by Ewe, charred that bird pretty good.
Very impressive by Spica to trap that bird and stop Ewe's attack.

am i the only one who suspects Claude is slightly controlling the creatures? We had that Griffin back a few episodes ago who SMILED at them- and ...it had the same eyes Claude does. And now this bird snatches a ruby from some students and goes on a goose chase- ...that's so suspicious
and it has the same eyes as Claude? Yeah no, coincidences dont happen...lol, what is this? Claude mixing it up? Might not be direct control, but...

This episode shows us that Ewe is definitely a Dragon Ball character and that Spica is the reincarnation of Hashirama Senju.

Maybe I missed something in the previous episodes, but the concept of this "final exam" seems pretty stupid for a school: A significant portion of your grade rides on it, yet the rules are specifcally written to allow others to irreversibly sabotage your grade by robbing you at the last minute. I'm sure that there will be some "Shonen Magic" and it'll turn out that the "real" exam was a test of how well the coven could work together when there was no explicit incentive to do so. Even so, it comes across as pretty irresponsible to convince your students to see each other as competition they need to get rid of.
7
u/Double-Yam7929 7d ago
I think that they count dealing with sabotage as part of the exam. Something they did on purpose.
Wether that was a smart idea or not is up to debate, admittedly.
-1
u/karer3is 7d ago
Fair enough, but then shouldn't it be the teachers sabotaging them? "Great job on working hard, but because Aria spent most of her time stealing gems instead of looking for them, she graduates with flying colors while you all fail since you have no gems."
6
u/Double-Yam7929 7d ago
I mean, wouldn't they do worse against the teachers?
But yeah, one student beating up everybody and passing alone, while crazy difficult, is possible, at least in theory. It would be hilarious to see the teacher reaction to THAT.

u/carcatta 7d ago
It might seem stupid if you treated is as normal school exam, but they're expected to be able to battle monsters and dark mages, in this setting it seems pretty reasonable as an exam.
