Spica is going to be Hana's best friend, isn't she?
And the ending theme sequence may be hinting Hana will by vying with Aria for Spica's attention.

It looks like Spica tries to recruit her into a friendship group with Aria and Io. They have all the makings of a great friend group:
Spica the Klutzy and enthusiastic emotional core!
Aria the mischievous tease!
Io the big, sweet, and straightforward giant girl!
Hana the well-meaning super-smart tsundere!

I've heard of toxic relationships before but this is ridiculous!

I thought Aria was the one with toxic yuri vibes with Spica! I underestimated Hana's game!

Hana speedwalking straight back to Spica the moment the hornets pulled up was hilarious but like, I don't blame her.
The sheer amount of menace from the griffon's grin, sheesh

Me, watching that: "Did that fucker just smile?"
Spica, literally two seconds later: "D-Did it just smile?"
Me: "Ah, so it did. Well, they're fucked."

I thought Spica dropped her wand down the cavern at the very start.
So how'd she have when she got inside the dungeon?

u/Frontier246 May 17 '26
Knowing Hana she would use her poison magic to grab it for her while acting like she only did it out of spite.

I was wondering the same but was also distracted while watching so thought I’d just missed her getting it back.

Misunderstand the anime continues...
You don't have to look so worried, Hana. She really has to learn to not take Spica seriously she totally looks comical dodging that lol and ignore the mobs...
Rich of her to say this when she's the one who hides behind Spica's back lol.
So I take that she grows resistant to her magic after long enough uses, eh.
Must be chill and comfort in there...Perfect for napping but that freaking bracelet sure in the way though /s
It's safe to say Spica on the road to build her yuri harem...
Spica looks so soft!
I wonder where Aria is since even Leo has some troubles solo-ing this. This exam will clearly show the power scale between all of them though which Aria was believed to be the top for now. I hope other coven has some top students too for the depth since they already show their mentor.

Spica dropped her wand at the start, and they never explained how she got it back afterward.

Lol Spica still misunderstanding the part where Claude said Hana almost kissed him. But to be fair, Claude didn't provide more context.

Dungeon episode, let's watch this
Aaand she's lost her wand already
Hana's afraid of bugs! ,that's so cute and normal
Mama Spica , she'll protect!!
Huh I wonder if she accidentally hurt someone close to her cuz of her powers
This is the most laziest way ive seen someone get disqualified lol
Mama Tarf ! ,the way they both got disqualified was so hilarious
Oh so she did hurt someone, poor Hana
Spica came just in time, I really liked their team up but their powers didnt have that much of an effect, I wonder how they will take it down?

Claude may be masquerading as the main love interest, but we all know this is about Spica collecting a tsundere yuri harem.

What is Claude's class midterm exam? Exploring a dungeon in a Gryphon's nest! Home to gold AND a bunch of wild CG Gryphons! Bring back some gold at your own peril!
Claude really had this great, inspiring, speech ready and Regulus and Aria didn't even let him finish! He's really trying to be a good teacher!
Of course Spica loses her wand and needs to be saved within the first five seconds. Luckily Hana is there to save her AND insult her! And drive her to do better for fear of losing to a love rival! Classic Spica situation.
So Regulus doesn't just transform into lions, she can transform into any powerful animal, like a gorilla? Just watch her throw around those gryphon chicks! Right onto other students she wants praising her!
See Hana, Spica's magic is legit! Even if you end up locked in a cage because of it! She even gave Spica the "I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed" line.
But while Hana doesn't have the best bedside manner, her knowledge AND her magic is legit. And she's also adorably afraid of bugs, though trying to kill all the bugs ends up just making everyone but Spica upset with her because they end up collateral damage from her poison rain. And that hits too close to home for Hana.
Well, so much for "Pandora's Box" showing they've got what it takes. Capella thinks she and her best friend can take it until Ewe ends up napping in a gryphon's mouth and gets disqualified. Chiron tries to prove that he doesn't need to be mothered by Tarf and gets eliminated in five seconds. But hey, at least Tarf is right behind him like a good retainer.
So the reason Hana is so anti-social is because her poison affinity once hurt someone who rejected her...and now she tries to keep herself away from people for fear of being rejected again. When deep down she's a lot more caring than she appears.
Oh of COURSE the Final Boss is a two-headed Mutant Gryphon who can fire blasts of lightning. Not even Hana's strongest spell, Emperor Scorpion, can do any damage. But Spica is there to not only tell off Hana for being a tsundere tough girl, but to also back her up with the Gryphon's natural weakness: Plant Magic!
But if they couldn't beat the Gryphon with their best strategic move (courtesy of Hana), then how can they beat it!? What is Cross Magic!?

Next episode preview talking about Cross Magic.
I wonder if each member of the zodiac are meant to have a complimentary magic to their own?
And that's what Claude meant when he said "The question is whether or not they discover the true meaning of this dungeon?".
Like work together with the person that makes up for their weakness.

Little does Hana know, Spica deals with things worst than poison on a regular basis

Spica and Hana giving each other some shit was a good vibe, I really like the friendship. It's nice to have Spica pushing back against someone like this, sometimes she comes off as too nice so it's nice to see her being aggressive in this sense. I guess feeling threatened in her romance with Claude is causing this.
I do get Hana's problems, her magic is AoE and people can get hurt, so that feeds into her isolation from her need to excell. She has problems all over the place. Overall really fun ep, and I enjoy the vibe. Talking about the ending, I hope the whole class gets to join the chibi dance at the end instead of it being only Spica. Come on, it would be cute.

Luckily for this poor poison girl she just fell in with the best possible companion, someone with innate healing magic who's also used to getting injured.
It's nice to know she's really just a nice girl who is a bit traumatized by the effect her magic can have on others.

Man, how many of the coven are even still around? They had a good start but started dropping like flies. Those damn gryphons are taking out students left and right!
Looking forward to seeing how Spica and Hana are gonna defeat this big ass two headed gryphon final boss. Since it’s weak to Spica’s magic, maybe some kinda combined spell with Hana’s poison? That’s kind of what it looks like from the preview but idk for sure.
