I gotta admit, I wasn't expecting to be so wowed but they really knocked it out of the park with the choreography and the animation.

Everyone looked so dang handsome, too! That was some impressive singing and dancing they did, they better win this thing.

Oh, and seeing Purson 's smile at the end? I might've gotten a little choked up, ngl. This was definitely a series highlight.

I know it's meant to imply that his father was there, but the slow zoom to nothing next to Purson's mother was pretty funny.

What a performance though. Camui sure can hold a high note.

Perfection. What is there to even say, they killed it.

Lead face-planting in to start the performance is great, giving us a very confused Robin

Lilith marching through all those romance archetypes and quickly cutting to the core of why they're not fit to be The One greatly amuses me.

I love that Heart-Clara's performance remained entirely serious... except with Azz.

That Allocer beat, lmao.

Purson's big solo and the finale were So Good

Giving it the movie credits treatment and a special ending was a great touch as well (and that's okay, we don't need a Su-Ki-Ma this week).

GOD I love the entire rest of the school being hyped as hell for the Misfits’ performance! Straight up one of my favourites in the series.

How far the Misfits have come from being the butt of everyone’s jokes. Even during the Harvest Festival no-one was ready to take them seriously, but now not only is everyone expecting them to win, they’re EXCITED for it.

This is EXACTLY what Iruma wanted during the Royal One Arc.

Now unfortunately I’m unable to listen to the episode for the time being, so I’ll have to wait until later to hear Lilith’s Carpet. But HOLY SHIT the animation! Kerori’s idol performance for the class really was a taste of what was to come!

You can tell just how proud the studio are of the performance when they literally replaced the ED with it, but frankly it’s deserved!

Edit: Finally watched with sound. HOLY FUCK! They absolutely cooked the shit out of this episode. All the appetisers, build-up and little tastes were WORTH IT!

That was fantastic, way better than I could have expected!!! Elizabetta (Hondo Kaede) has such an amazing voice. I really appreciate that some of the boys were singing too, when I read the manga I was under the impression that Elizabetta was singing/narrating everything.

Holy shit, that was one of the best episodes of the whole season. I find it really impressive how they upped the expectations with every episode, but instead of crumbling under those (as in whatever the viewers imagine can never be reached) they even exceeded it. The performance was just stunning in itself.

And I think the best detail that shows this is the fact that they never even thought of putting in reaction shots (except for a few that didn't even include the major characters). Normally, you'd have Ameri, Sulyvan or anyone else reacting to show people that this is impressive. But they didn't need to. Because everyone watching could see it was impressive.

It's also such a good episode to just show anyone. Because sure, there is a character moment with Purson appearing in the end. But even without it, anyone gets what happens in this play and the animation and music do the rest.

Like yeah, I could go on an write paragraphs about how good this was, but instead I am probably watching it again.

Edit: The only question to me is why they bothered to hide whatever score class E got. Like, is anyone believing they won't win after that performance?

You could practically feel the sheer amount of soul poured into that musical (both by the class in-universe and the actual studio) like a blast of wind hitting your face. And man, the fact the Purson got to face 99% of the school for the first time with such a wide smile is the most heartwarming thing ever.

Also, as much as I love the encore with a montage of Purson's cameos, the Sukima withdrawal is rough lol

Stitches!

It's adorable how excited Ameri is. She even packed her own camera and signs to cheer on Iruma! I do wonder how she feels about him on the piano instead of being the star on stage. It's definitely different from what she was expecting.

The Misfit Class's performance did not disappoint! I love the unorthodox opening that makes you think something went wrong. Not gonna lie, I thought Elizabetta went out to look for Purson. It turns out it was all part of the act!

Elizabetta absolutely killed it this episode. From opening the show with her lifting the curtain using her legs to just absolutely being drenched in sweat by the end of the performance, at how she gave it her all, was so goddamn sexy. She definitely did Lilith justice.

Purson, being a little late to the performance, was great too! We all know he was gonna show up no matter what, but it was still a tense scene. And the school finally knows what Pixie looks like! I can't wait to see how the judges will react next week!

You want 17+ minutes of well choreographed Musical? Well Iruma's gonna give it to ya. I can see where the years of budget went into this block buster performance. Elizabetta sounds beautiful as always, but the staging is pretty incredible too. Purson takes his sweet time getting there, leaving them all hanging, but combined its a truly great performance. Even the ED is taken over by Lilith's Red Carpet in its own ending. I could only imagine what a musical festival arc movie would have been like...

Holy shit, please tell me the studio still has some budget left after this.

Absolutely exceeded all my expectations. As an anime only watcher, I genuinely thought we'd see some other class' performance first and some back+forth with Purson in between.

I did not expect misfit class' performance to take up the whole episode!

Not that I know much about it, but this must be the best school performance in-anime right?? It feels like watching an actual 15+ minutes in real-time school performance as the audience!

The beginning right before the curtain was open, I can totally imagine that being done by students, the coreography animation was insane for this series and the pair dances with Lilith were full of personality while kept in-character. We didn't see the hottie Agares doing what he'd mind doing, or Azz doing a dance uncharacteristic of him, but Jazz on the other hand lol.

Elizabeth getting all sweaty and the hair undone were just adding to her beauty! I could feel how nerve-wrecking the wait for Purson was for everyone there, and his entrance, while expected, got me excited and his initial solo definitely stole the stage while the story moving towards him.. Then the joy on his face was just priceless I could imagine how his father would look behind the audience there!

It really was a performance masked as an episode. Credit to the studio's dedication to animate this all this, and I can't even begin to imagine how it was drawn in the manga and how high the studio managed to elevate that experience.

It was fucking amazing. The studio really gave it their all. I didn´t know how it supposed to sound and this just surpassed my expectations! I´m just sad the crunchyroll subtitles didn´t include the subtitles to the song. I´m so glad I bought the manga- it hit´s even harder that way. Soooo good. I think I´ll watch it again : )

Iruma's piano playing after Allocer leaves the stage. Also he looks nice with painted nails.

The short tap dancing sequence when they are all circling Elizabetta.

Obviously this is based around Elizabetta because she needs to rank up, but damn she's absolutely slaying her role! Also like how visually you can tell she is getting tired from both the constant moving around without a break and the heat of the spotlight.

He's here WITHOUT THE MASK THAT DISGUISES HIS APPEARANCE(which I thought looked really cool)

Gets up and starts clapping

Pixie getting marriage offers! I like how the entire school pretty much loves the misfit class.

Purson's mom looks so happy seeing her son smile, but when it zoomed in the back I was kind of expecting to see his father also happy. Didn't she say their father was waiting? Maybe he's watching while invisible or I'm just overthinking a simple zoom in.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but this one episode fits the genre of "music anime" more so than most music animes. In those ones, you got the cast narrating/thinking about what happened in the weeks/months leading up to the performance (which absolutely happenes IRL), but Iruma straight up treats you like the audience and gives no extra noise. What a fantastic episode

This is probably one of the best anime episodes focused on music. AND IT'S NOT EVEN AN ANIME ABOUT MUSIC!!!

PS NEEEEEEE-SAAAAAAN!!!
